The kiss on Jimmy's cheek and the intimate hug/private chat with Judd... this is what real men who have real emotions (regardless if they show it during matches) and have the utmost respect for someone else, do. Incredible accomplishment, incredible career, incredible personality.

Amazing interview! Thanks to Eurosport for sharing this. I started watching snooker about seven years ago after my husband showed me Ronnie's fastest 147 and I have been a massive fan of Ronnie's since. I live in a very isolated little town in Northern Ontario where there's virtually nothing to do and I can't tell you how much I look forward to watching snooker. I hope Ronnie will continue to play for awhile, however if he doesn't his fans can't ask for anything else from him, he has given us so much. Thanks Ronnie!

Hi Donna. I too lived in a tiny little town in northern Ontario when I was a teen. My family moved from the NWT to ON. This little tiny blip of a village was like every other small Canadian town / village back in the day: there was the outdoor hockey/skating/broom-ball rink, and a curling club with 3 sheets of natural ice. What made this little place different from most others was that there was a pool room ... with 8 pool tables and 4 snooker tables. I was told by my parents to "not go in there" as pool rooms had bad reps - but being the (mostly) typical 13 year old boy that I was, I opened the door to the place, and fell in love with snooker right then. It was 30 cents/hour to play, with a 5 cent penalty for jumping any ball off the tables (which were gorgeous), and I started racking / scoring for pennies a game so I could watch and learn. I can still remember learning to "lag" for break, and looking down that long. long green. I have loved snooker ever since, and have played whenever I could. Thanks for making me remember those early snooker times in my life.

I have been supporting Ronnie since he arrived 25 years ago and never had the chance to follow Trump well but after seeing Judd supporting Ronnie during the altercation with referee and during the cue ball incident when the referee was placing the cue ball wrong, I started to love Judd's honesty and sportsmanship and now I absolutely love Judd. Lovely words from Ronnie about Jimmy. This is a special moment in the history of Snooker. Snooker dose not get the respect it deserves. It’s an incredibly hard game to master, in fact like golf you never do. Ronnie, for my money, is the most naturally talented individual sportsman ever. When he is playing at the top of his game it’s not just perfection, it’s artistry in motion. A legend is a much over used term, but in Ronnie’s case, it’s apt. A legend and a phenomenal sportsman.

So wonderful to see him so emotional, which gave a great insight into how hard it is to concentrate and sustain a physical effort for around 110 frames of snooker in the tournament. He's the ONLY player that I actually watch re runs of his previous rounds instead of live matches of other players. He's so graceful, just beautiful to watch. I loved how his emotion of achieving the 7 was released at the end, the way he threw his right arm towards Judd at the end, slumped with fatigue and embraced for ages, hiding his tears and probably bigging Judd up. A true great 👍.

He never forgets to mention Jimmy or Alex Higgins in their heyday, incredible cue actions that inspired the likes of Ronnie judd trump etc, great words about judd he is Mr entertainer right now and he will get his second World title in the near future.

I’d be amazed if he doesn’t end a 4 or 5 time winner of it. He’s so unique and his safety is getting better all the time but when he’s attacking, if on form is sensational to watch. He’s not been playing his best and has got to a final, certainly gained a bigger fan in me after that final. Ronnie loves attacking brave snooker as we all do so he’ll always have respect for players like trump, Robertson etc.

In the last 10 years higgins has won 7 tournaments Williams has won 5 with 1 of them a Major the 18 World Championship and O'Sullivan has won 31 with 10 of them Major's.So that means in the last 10 years Williams and Higgins have won 12 tournaments with 1 Major although John did win his last Major in 11.So really it's Ronnie who has won more tournaments than any other player in history over 40 years old. He's the best ever and has played this game to a level that is simply perfection. This Season he won 2 tournaments. The Gran prix where he beat player of the season up to the World Championship Neil Robertson 10-8 and then at the World Championship to beat Gilbert 10-5...Allen 13-4... Maguire 13-5... Higgins 17-10...Trump 18-13 with the pressure of equalling Hendry record at 46 years and 5 months old and become the oldest World Champion in Snooker History is sensational and for once and for all put to bed the greatest debate until maybe 25-30 years from now someone else goes on to challenge his greatness.

My hero. Started to doubt we'd ever see Ronnie reach 7. Although I am content with him sharing World Championships' parity with Hendry, I am wondering if he has one more moment of greatness in him, a Triple Crown clean sweep next season!

I had some idea that concentration was also an emotional experience, but I had no idea it was so draining, nor that you guys share such warm feelings toward each other. Much respect for the exertion! Wonderful to hear Judd's kind words to you, Ronnie. You know you can believe him. Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful!

Probably the best Ronnie interview ever, Don’t get me wrong there are classics like the cue action one but that’s just Ronnie having a laugh. This is pure raw emotion at the end of a gruelling tournament captured straight after achieving history. Brilliant coverage on Eurosport.

People seem to be surprised by Ronnie's emotional side. I'm sure that Ronnie being a competitor wants to win every frame in every match but, I learned something about him not long ago in an interview. He was pushing for Pro Snooker to reimburse the costs for the younger players on the tour. His thought was for the life of professional snooker. These younger players are struggling to place high enough in tournament play to make expenses and without sponsors to help " break even" then many would be forced to give up the game. He felt as if a portion of the tournament profits would be well spent to help these young players, the future of the sport.
