Emotional Intelligence has played a huge role in my life. It makes life so much easier in so many ways. I enjoy the fact that so many people deny its existence.

I agree with the emotion being contagious because when someone is down around you it rubs off on you some times

I try to process all I feel, as I watch this video... But the pain is too great, too big, too overwhelming. smothering: I am breathless. I am drowning, suffocating. Dying of loneliness and longing. I can't bear it. I just can't. Please, please pray for me, friends. May the prayer(s) you say for me, bless you, as well...

Its actually a really good talk about EQ. I think that the ski & Baileys illustration was the mistake. A mountainous obstacle seems like it would work but it just wasn't relatable because, even if she was terrified, ultimately she was doing it for fun. It was a choice. Her point would have been more inspiring if it painted a picture of someone in a horrendous situation that the only thing they CAN control is their response. A situation they would never CHOOSE to be in! I am going to sound like I'm picking on her now but it sounds like that's the scariest situation she's ever been in, never faced homelessness or destitution where EQ can make all the difference in the world. That's the idea that needs to be shared. That working on your EQ WILL help you face and deal with devastating life experiences, navigate through emotionally volatile situations and create harmonious human relationships and on & on! That is why EQ matters!

Daniel Goleman is not the father of emotional intelligence. He just put a name on it. All major philosophers talked about EQ since ancient times from different perspectives. The first that pops into my mind is Socrates, but I'm sure he wasn't actually the first. In fact, EQ is present in all oriental philosophies (religions) and in the art(science) of rhateoric in ancient Greece and Rome. And it is also in the teachings of Jesus Christ! Alas, Machiavelli and Borgia had also a great insight into what we call now "emotional intelligence". ;)

Ted talk is in no related with anything Indigenous. Discernment advises It’s true-emotions are contagious, and it’s called emotional contagion. Learn what science and research says about how easy it is to “catch” other’s emotions, positive and negative. Sapien heard that laughter is contagious. Older Sapien may have also heard sapien say a sapien are a “sympathetic crier,” meaning if a sapien see a sapien crying a sapien unforcibly start tearing up too, even though sapien don’t have a reason to cry. It’s funny how a sapien "can take on" the emotions of another viewed, as if emotions or feelings are contagious. But it’s true-emotions can really be contagious. It’s called emotional contagion, and sharing emotions tendly happen easier than a sapien’d think. Emotional contagion is simply when a one person’s emotions or behaviors are mimicked by a another person’s. Often times, these emotions or behaviors happen subconsciously. According to “Are a Sapien Catching a Other Sapien's Emotions?” in U.S. World and News Report, upbeat emotions such as enthusiasm and joy, as well as negative ones such as sadness, fear and anger, are easily passed from a one person to a another, often without either "party" realizing it.

It wasn't out of place at all. She was stating that very few of our thoughts are in the present moment, which is where they should be. If our thoughts are more often on the past or future we aren't in the present where we should be.
