After so many years of wandering and realizing my thoughts and feelings, I think I have found my direction. Maybe this is my new beginning ...

There is no dark side of emotional intelligence. If someone is being hurtful to others, its because of an insecurity that they have, and putting people down makes them feel a little better about themselves. Emotionally intelligent people are present with their fears and insecurities by means of self-reflection and work to overcome them, which is why they are generally happier and wouldn't be hurtful to others. Perhaps the emotionally intelligent girl that was being hurtful that you gave an example of has good boundaries when it comes to people being rude to her, but does not know how to manage an inner issue and insecurity. So she is emotionally intelligent in one way, but not in the other way.

I agree. This talk is misleading about emotional intelligence. These people, she described as sinister and emotionally intelligent, lack empathy. Empathy is a primary factor in emotional intelligence. There's also social awareness. This talk is only one-sided about intrinsic self-awareness, i.e., awareness of one's emotions. It missed a lot on other facets of EI. Even the self-regulation part is skewed; a manipulator does not judge well - they do only to their own end. I heard that's called "character formation" the Dolores Umbridge personality. Seemingly in control outside, but full of rage inside.

11:30 you don't know how much I can agree to that. Yes, people indeed use their EQ for excluding others. I say this because I have experienced it, my school bully done it too me, and there were times when I did it to her

To shake hands or to punch that is the reaction that determines whether you have E.Q. or not.

Awesome 😎 I was thinking about the exact topic of this talk recently-because I am extremely emotionally aware but it is not self-serving but mainly in the service of harmony and truth-seeking.

But emotionally intelligent people are also empathetic towards others: they put themselves in their shoes so as not to hurt or offend them.E.Q. means self_awareness,self_regulation, social_awareness and social management, which is based on respect,tolerance,acceptance,open-mindedness and empathy.

Nice topic. What if in a couple one is high on EQ n average in IQ n one is equally high in IQ but lowest in EQ? Can you please elaborate such cases? Children suffer a lot whom to follow as they both have their strong opinions. Can you please tell how emotionally intelligent person should regulate this?
