THANKS for making this video! I have bought 2 of these EMP shields and was just thinking that I need to get them installed and have been a little fearful on doing it myself and your video made me feel more comfortable. Whether it will work or not to protect from an EMP we won't know until one comes, but I would rather take any precautions I can. Better safe than sorry- This has now made it to my TODO List for today! WHOHOO!

EMP will fry the circuits immediately and having some wires to a battery will not stop that. Think of it this way, if you shuffle your feet on carpet, and then touch a light switch on the wall, you will experience the shock before the surge can get to the power panel and have it trip the main if it was that sensitive. The damage has already been done at the switch. Same with a vehicle CPU. The charge in the atmosphere will zap everything equally It would be a matter of chance that the charge in the atmosphere tickles and trips the EMP protector before the car circuitry. If it fails, how are you going to get your money back?
@aroundtown9762 жыл бұрын
You would need a protective shield around the vehicle

not to diplomatic but yeah the same thing i was thinking, you want an emp proof car, buy an old 60's junker with a points ignition, if a vehicle has a computer than nothing short of a Faraday cage will protect it, this thing is like those mileage boosters on ebay, baseless promises and LED's to make you feel good.......

Well that’s what it’s for, so my car will be running when the rest of yours are dead after an EMP, or Meteor strike,coronal mass ejection, You name it whatever would take your power back down! Do you think it won’t affect your car? It will

You know the "Carrington event" melted old fashion copper telegraph wires, can anything protect fragile modern car electronics? The modern cars have enough trouble just surviving normal use. I would not plan on having any Powered transportation in the event of a big flare. Also, as the earth's magnetic field weakens it will take a less and less powerful flare to do major damage. Be prepared to pack it on your shoulders! Practice it, benefit is staying in shape! ..
@Petersondent4 жыл бұрын
That those old copper telegraph wires weren’t insulated… And I think you’re just isolating on incident quoting the Carrington event, we have extremely large electromagnetic pulse is constantly coming from the sun, not to mention all the changes in the earths let’s not keep our head in the sand you know. Sometimes it’s better to have something and not need it than to need some thing and not have it and I don’t wanna be that for it doesn’t have a car when anybody else does not, and trust me sir these are on high demand, back order for weeks by the way and the department of defense has a personal contract of these people to strengthen our grid if you didn’t know. But also if you didn’t know they’re not very fast at it so, don’t rely on the government to save you

I would put it inside one of the lower pillars below the dashboard or behind the glovebox and run the wires through the firewall (your car has predrilled holes 'rubber grommets' where existing wires go into the engine bay) once you're through you can connect to your battery and ground. -A metal closehangar with the wires taped to it is really useful for pushing the wires through the rubber grommets and out into the engine bay.

I have to agree with the other guys who have electrical experience. When I saw the picture I thought "Uh, don't see how that could shield..." I think best bet is if there's any foreknowledge of emp coming, from the Sun lets say, is a big ground wire from true earth ground to the body, chassis and engine of the car; that may be lucky enough to keep the delicate stuff from blowing, with the steel/aluminum body acting kind of like a Faraday cage.

I've read their website and I'm not convinced. In the installation in the video, the device is protecting over voltage conditions on the main 12VDC charging system. But how are the 5VDC engine control sensors protected? These are fed from a separate power supply usually in the engine computer (PCM, ECU). The sensors and conductors to the electronic sensors are also exposed to the magnetic field from an EMP and therefore can have their own induced voltages. I don't see how the device in video provides any protection on the engine control circuits. Very misleading!!!

EMP Shield is a family of incredibly robust EMP, solar flare, and lightning defense technologies. They have been designed to exceed the US Military requirements for protection against a high-altitude nuclear detonation that results in an electromagnetic pulse. This family of products has been tested at Keystone Compliance, a DOD Certified Testing Laboratory, to verify compliance with the following Military Standards: MIL-STD-461-RS105 Transient electromagnetic pulse of up to 50 kV/m, double exponential wave with a rise time in the nanosecond range, that is applied to the equipment under test (EUT) at least 5 times. We tested at 50 kV/m and also 90 kV/m (80% above required testing voltage). MIL-STD-188-125-1 High Altitude EMP MIL-STD-461G Control of Electromagnetic Interference MIL-STD-461-CS-115 The purpose of CS115 is to test an electronic or electrical system to withstand signals coupled onto the test unit’s associated cabling. The test unit will be subjected to rise and fall times, pulse width, and amplitude as specified on Figure CS115-1 at a 30 Hz rate for one minute; MIL-STD-461-CS116 applies to 10 kHz to 100 MHz for all interconnecting cables, including power cables, and individual high side power leads; MIL-STD-461 CS117 apples to all safety-critical equipment interconnecting cables and non-safety critical equipment with interconnecting cables/electrical interfaces that are part of or connected to equipment performing safety critical functions. The goal is to test the unit’s ability to withstand lightning transients coupled onto the test unit’s associated cables and power leads; MIL-STD-464C Electromagnetic Environmental Effects Requirements for Systems. Our test results show that we begin shunting the over-voltage condition in less than 1 nanosecond, and our units are designed to shunt over 100,000 Amps per phase. Our devices are scalable to any size. Summary of capabilities: Features: Quick acting HEMP surge protection that switches in less than 500 trillionths of a second. High current shunting capability above 100kAmps. Exceeds MIL-STD-188-125-1, MIL-STD-464C, and MIL-STD-461G requirements. Units are designed to protect power, control, data, communications, and radio antenna input. Made to support: Models available for all Single & 3-Phase Power configurations Models available for all DC Voltages Models available for Data, Ethernet, RS-485, RS-422, RS-232, Etc. Models available for RF Communications, Antennas, coax, Etc
