When the robots come, empathy will be our most important work skill. In this fascinating talk, Katri Saarikivi calls for increasing empathy in the rapidly digitizing world and gives concrete examples how to do this.
Katri Saarikivi is a scientist who works at the Cognitive Brain Research Unit of the University of Helsinki and concentrates on the brain functions behind learning and interaction. Winner of the Helsinki Challenge competition for best new scientific innovations, Saarikivi develops completely new techniques for digitalising emotions and transmitting them online.
This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at ted.com/tedx

This material stimulates deep thought. A book I read with related ideas was thoroughly engaging. "A Life Unplugged: Reclaiming Reality in a Digital Age" by Theodore Blaze

there are so many reasons why some people are having hard times with sharing their feelings. For example, people struggle with sharing their feelings because they aren't comfortable enough to be vulnerable. They might think that sharing feelings is a sign of weakness. But it is not true.

@@chihaharuya It also has to do with mindset. In certain countries, including (ironically) the one the lecturer comes from, children are taught not to show their feelings. I totally agree with you, in fact I believe that never sharing or showing your feelings is a weakness and a sign of cowardice...

She's too cute. Not in a silly anime sort of way, without being over the top, she's plainly cute. Very interesting lecture.

Shepherd boy David killed a lion and a bear with his own hands, because he loved God and wanted to protect the sheep. He defeated Goliath, the giant, because he intimidated the army of Gods children and defiled the name of his God. Though he became an adulterer and a murderer when he fell from grace, God forgave his repented soul saying, "David is a man after my own heart". Take courage and follow Jesus. These are the days when the cowards will run when the hero's rise. God is love and feels our pain.
