Empire Mini GS Review: Little Shooter

So its been YEARS since I was big into paintball (high school, my last gun was an old impulse 😂). Flash forward to memorial day, I played again for the first time this decade and had a blast! That night I decided to get some new gear, and based on this review I went and bought this gun with an LT-R, HK Army pod pack, and a 68/45 tank. I love it! Played again this past Sunday and the gun performed flawlessly for me. Thank you PBRML!

I'm 5' 10", 180 lbs, medium athletic build. I really never had a problem with size of the Mini GS, but my air tank was another story. I use a round 70 ci tank, which can be a little stubby. Consequently, the shortness of my tank pushed my goggles into the velocity adjustment of my Mini GS. I added a Nummech Drop Back to my Empire Mini GS, which extends the overall length of the marker. My Mini GS now sits perfectly in the pocket of my chest and still maneuvers around corners quickly. With the Nummech Drop Back installed, it gives me some breathing room between me and my marker. This makes target acquisition faster because it improves my sight picture since my hopper is now farther away and obscures my view less. I keep reading that Mini GS is a good "entry level" marker. It is not. It is a great marker period. The Spyder Fenix and Azodin Blitz are "entry level" markers.

I just got into paintball and bought my first marker 2 months ago. I got a spider fenix (I’ve always wanted one since I was younger, kinda a nostalgia thing). A month later, I bought an Etha 3m because I wanna get into mech tournaments (I’m playing my first one May 20th). eBay is my best friend 😁 I bought a first gen mini for 200$ and a Axe redline oled board for 140$, I got a CP 14" barrel, techt bolt, violent series scythe trigger, Axe on/off asa, and a new poppet from empire. I have a mini Axe pretty much.

I've been playing paintball a year now but I've always just rented. My closest shop said I could get a mini gs, Ninja 48/3000, Spire 200, and V force grills for $499.80. Is that a good price? Those were the things I wanted and I kinda built it as a package. Me and some friends are going on the 23rd to buy a bunch of guns and stuff like that then we are going to get beat at the tournament they are having. Hope we do well! lol

It would be really cool to compare this marker to a 2k2 intimidator or equivalent just to see the change in technology from high end back in the day to mid level guns now side by side... I mean I love my intimidator don’t get me wrong but it’s not ideal for speedball today with the bps caps and parts getting a little harder to come across.... so I’m considering buying the mini gs and retiring the old Lasoya to restore it for rec play/backup gun. Great vids btw come out to Houston to play sometime!

Definitely! A 2k2 Timmy was my last gun before I stopped playing. It’s crazy how much has changed since I’ve been away, but I’m really looking forward to getting back out on the field! I’m thinking about starting off with a mini since it’s cheap, but I’m also tempted to go all out on a cs2 pro or geo iv! These new markers have come a long way!

It's funny in 07' the mini was top of the line marker now it's a beginner gun! I started playing paintball in 1985 playing with 10shot cattle markers with oil based balls. You could not wash your camos in the washing machine it would ruin your washing machines. I started competing in tourneys in the 90's with pneumatic autococker guns.

When I bought my mini in 2008 it was $325. I feel like it was a mid-range gun for the time. Spyders were really popular then still, this thing was going up against Egos and eteks, DM's, and the original Luxe

Max Powers I'd watch out for graffiti paint. I know the minis don't chop paint so much but graffiti is known to chop more in an axe them most other paints.

I just got into paintball. I’m a noob basically. And I just bought a used Empire mini gs. The shop said i have a 2 year warranty on it if anything goes wrong. But the point is idk how often to clean it. 1. Do I clean the mini gs before and after every use? Or before use? Or after use? When should I clean it? 2. How would I clean the mini gs(btw I never used it yet and I go paintball 1-2 times a month) 3. What lube should I buy to use on the mini gs?

Yep, absolutely. On most of the better electronic guns, mid/low pressure is going to work best.

See I'm 6'1" and I put my ninja 77/4500 tank on the gs and it feels pretty good for me but I just can't shoot fast with it but that's not a problem for me cause my local field only allows 6 bps but the only problem I have is the barrel on the gs sucks

Cleaning the eyes is a bit of a hassle. I owned the original Axes for about 3 years and rarely had to clean the eyes though, so why it is annoying I didn't have to do it much. The guns are so similar that, it is really going to come down to feel. If you you can get her to hold both, then just go with which ever feels the best.

Much smaller than the Ion. Length wise...I think the Etha 2 would be similar, maybe a bit longer but close.

My bolt on my invert shifts front a little after I shoot like 5 shots. When it shifts, the bolt wont let the ball fit, any tips on what it can be?

Three major things, ASA On/Off, tigger is adjustable and the mounting of the regulator is MUCH better. It is for sure worth the little bit of extra money.

it refers to how hard the bolt hits the paintball when you are shooting. High end paint is very brittle so you need a marker that is easy or soft on paint in order to shoot it

I reaaaly like the Etha 2, so I'm going Etha. If you want the upgrade to the OLED board or if you like the aluminum on the Etek 5, that go with that. Both a great guns, and you can't go wrong with either of them.

V-max Plus. Its lighter, more durable, it cant jam, and it will feed fast enough for tournament play

For the most part it is preferences, I would recommend anything from 12-16in. I like the 14in though, it is a bit easier to aim with than the 12in, and the 16in is just a bit to long for me.

In some ways the GS is better than the Axe. I just cant do the size of the Mini, so I would go with the Axe just because it feels better in my hands.
