This scene and the one where Mei pin whips Ruyi is why I was on the fence about her. Like you didn't apologize for anything you did to Ruyi, knowing full well she had nothing to do with your misfortunes but instead brushed it off and moved on to the next person you thought had a hand in your son's death. And Ruyi, being the gracious person that she is, forgives all of that and finds you a peaceful place for you in the end when you died. Some of these wives didn't deserve Ruyi's compassion

Instead of being against Ruyi, The Empress should have befriended her. She would have gotten a better friend than Hui and Jia. Maybe she would have lived longer.

True but remember if that was the case Ruyi wouldn’t be able to have children due to the bracelet the empress gave her.

The Empress here orchestrated her own demise, funnily enough. Not only did she trust people who used her, but also went against the one person who would have treated her with transparency. The bracelets also worked against her favor as in the end her only surviving child (her daughter) was sent away to marry and she had no one. If Xiyue and Ruyi had daughters by then, they would have been sent off in marriage because the Empress could have been able to call the shots.

@nabi9802_ Actually, it still wouldn't have worked in her favor if Gao and Ruyi had daughters of their own. Because, Jingse's husband wanted a legitimate princess between both emperor and Empress. This was Jingse's karma for going on around bragging about being the legitimate princess of both the emperor and Empress.

@@midnight_blue6793empress could have played around it I think, I don’t know if adoption can work for a princess, but adding her to the legitimate bloodline means they can send her off so that would work then

@osmanthus_branch Yeah, reasoning is valid. However, you have to take into account Fucha's pride and ego. Their was no way she was going to adopt Ruyi or any other concubines kid. She didn't even accept Gao's oldest son when she failed to produce a male heir.

Jia's manipulation is so masterful, it's ridiculous. Saying those things about Consort Xian, knowing full well it isn't true just to make Empress feel uneasy about her position, then reassuring her that she comes from an influential clan, she has a son and daughter, etc. She's egging on this imaginary rivalry between Xian and Empress when all of it is just in her mind. Then she will sit back and allow them to take each other out.

and I hate that Concubine Mei never remorse about this slander. she never say sorry that she slander ruyi in this case, eventhough ruyi do a good thing to her

She was acting on orders from the Empress Dowager and except for her lost son, I don´t think she felt much sympathy or love for anyone, much less for the other concubines.
Ruyi so shrewd, quietly diplomatic because she sees into the future, right? Chess not checkers. Already has the Emperor’s expressed confidence so why risk poor strategy, throw it all away over a pawn (the minion who mixed the potion. If he commit suicide over her interrogation she would look heavy handed and petty). Aim to win the war, not just tiny battles. Current Empress said of herself she’s petty and insecure, full of intrigues and lacks discernment . Plain her time on the throne would be shorter than her imperial fingernails. 💅
