The best way to look at missing out on the other one with the tub is that now you don’t have to give your money to the landlord every month. If they treated that interaction with you in that way, I can’t imagine they would be a joy to deal with should something come up. Glad you got what you wanted. 🎉

My husband works in kitchens and he said it might not be your cleaner it’s probably your towel. You have to use a microfiber towel. And what they use in kitchens on it is either windex or stainless cleaner. He has worked in kitchens all over Southern California from Disneyland to Airports and everything in between. They all use microfiber towels. I hope it helps.

You need to oil stainless steel slightly to keep it shiny. Just take a cotton cloth and drip some oil on it and wipe the countertop with it. It will prevent it from getting streaks and finger taps. When you clean it with fat remover etc from time to time, you have to oil it again. You can also buy oil made for stainless steel fridge fronts for example but I think just using sunflower oil or something like that is a better option for a countertop. But use really just a tiny amount of it. You will instantly see where the oil is on the surface and you will also see the difference.
@amychristine81843 ай бұрын
But if you oil it you cannot eat any food that's dropped on the counter because it's toxic. Windex works too you just have to buff a lot @@eily_b

Aw Rachel, if it makes you feel any better when we were touring apartments in my city, we found a place and applied, and got it. Paid, signed the lease! And then the landlord called my past landlords, and rescinded the offer because of a past legal dispute with her over our security deposit that she kept unlawfully. I was devastated and so hurt about the whole situation. A couple weeks later, we found the PERFECT house!! And it was a better location, bigger house, with a garage. Everything happens for a reason. Even if it hurts. So excited for this new chapter for you

Glad to see you found a place to call home. Take time to nurture yourself. Starting over from scratch can be invigorating, but it's also a lot of stress so be kind to yourself and breathe deep. Take naps. Set an alarm for meals so you don't miss any. Splurge on the occasional order in. Invite a new neighbor to catch a performance at a local theater or concert. Bake cookies to share with your new neighbors and pick one a day to chat with. Buy yourself a new plant as a housewarming gift. Step by step. Don't worry about us. Take care of you and let yourself celebrate, cry, nap, explore the area in long introspective walks, have a paint the house party with a Crock-Pot stew and beer to celebrate when you're done. Whatever you do, remember you got this. You're strong, beautiful, intelligent, creative, resilient, and resourceful. You're going to be just fine, better than ever before. - sending hugs and prayers

I know it's really disappointing to have lost the second apartment, but when I moved to Toronto and was embarking on apartment-hunting, I was advised to be ready with my references, credit statement, and other application info to apply on the spot. I don't think that man was trying to lead you on, or that he had a previous offer -- if your email and application had come in first, he would have gone with you. I actually admire his ethics where he isn't looking for a bidding war. In Manitoba, we don't even bid on apartments -- the rent is what is listed.

I've been in a situation where I looked at a place, loved it and immediately said I wanted it and the landlord told me I got it and that he'd send me the details on signing the lease in a couple of days. And then when I haven't heard back when he said I would and followed up, he ended up telling me he went with a different offer in the end. In the meantime I've cancelled showings for other places so that really sucked. So while I understand in this instance it sucked for Rachel, I can't fault the landlord for sticking to his promise to whoever made the first offer. And it is quite possible he got that offer in the few hours between Rachel seeing the place and sending her e-mail. Things can happen really fast. I did end up finding a much nicer place so it all worked out in the end, but there was a lot of unnecessary stress because the landlord didn't keep his word. And for what it's worth, of the three places Rachel looked at I do think the the loft is the nicest space!

This is how it is in Vancouver BC as well (no bidding war) but it is however FCFS. They aren’t gonna wait while you run a few errands..they are gonna hand the keys over to whoever is ready to give a deposit etc. how I got my current place. My landlord told me they have a few other viewings booked that day but if I send a deposit it’s mine.

When I retired I moved over 1,000 miles northward. 1st in a Motel 6, I found an apartment for myself, 2 cats, and my youngest's childhood doggo for the few months while I searched for my forever rural property. For me it was very temporary. And as a bored former homeowner: it fixed all of the flaws noted in my rental agreement. When I moved on, I was offered a job: detailing other units. Thanks, but no thanks. Your cats must either be magical beings: or really, really, love you.

Your emotions are absolutely okay…finding your home, your “safe space to fall” is incredibly important. Everything happens for a reason and that was something you shouldn’t have…who knows why, but it wasn’t meant to be. “The One” is perfect and you will make it beautiful🥰🥰🥰

Hey Rach - Def go with light minimalistic aesthetics for the bathroom! Lots of good luck for this new space :)

Moving/ looking for an apartment is honestly the most stressful thing I’ve ever done. Crying is so realistic. I’m so happy for you.

this may be too niche but as i've been taking care of my mom's cat i started making random cat furniture / window seats / scratching boards for her and it's been pretty easy and fun! maybe some cat DIYs? Edit: clearly I posted this before you mentioned wrapping the beam 😂

I’ve had stainless appliances for 30 years. My appliance dealer has always recommended using WD-40 to polish. Spray and wipe with microfiber cloth. Then buff with a separate microfiber cloth. Looks like brand new. This should work unless there are scratches or clouding from previous renter. Love your fur babies.

I agree that it wasn’t right to show you that place when the owner was already in process with another. On the positive side- finding “the one” must have been such a weight off your shoulders. I can’t wait to see future videos from you!

That's so interesting. In Germany we do apartment hunting quite differently. They usually have them listed somewhere, you contact them for a viewing, which is either separate or with other people together who are also interested in it. If you're interested, you fill out a form and so do all the others. An then you have to cross your fingers and hope the landlord chooses you amongst all the applications. There is no offer or one person after another. What upset you in this episode is pretty much the norm here. It's either luck or no luck. And you always look at as many apartments as possible, even at once and fill out many forms for the landlords. And hope one chooses you. If you then decide you don't want it, you can still back out, and the landlord chooses the next person in his applications list.

Thanks for sharing what you’ve been going through. I have been trying to read your face for some months and now it makes sense. I am so happy that you are feeling happy. You are such a wonderful one.

I really felt it when you talked about losing that space you loved. I’ve been in the same situation, and my emotions may have come into play as well. I hope nobody criticizes you for that, but I certainly won’t. That is so cute and I cannot wait to see what you do with it. Good luck in your whole new arrangement, And keep on making great content.

From one loftie in another, CONGRATS!! Stainless steel is a b**** but I use a polish 1x/week, the patina build up is the point!!! not a lot of natural products are working well for me so far, but I’ll keep you updated if I find something. But Agh! I’m so happy for you, and I can’t wait to make our lofts homes together!! ☺️☺️ this is the series I needed for my ‘07 paradise 😅

With the polish once a week, it gives it a layer protecting it from drinks and deep scratches-maybe you’ll have to wipe it down 1/3-1/4 less of the time. Again, patina is what you typically want when you buy those countertops, but if you’re trynna slow down the patina-process coasters are a *must.* I use Clorox on the monthly/weekly reset days before polish, but daily Meyers or similar just doesn’t cut it- I’m still testing what works best, I’m even mixing products 😅 so I’ll let you know hopefully before your kitchen video. Again, so excited and happy for you! Something about lofts, man 😅😅❤❤

He didn't already have an offer when you showed up or deliberately lead you on. You saw the apartment and decided NOT to put an offer in until several hours later, during which time other people put in their offers. He can't just not rent the apartment to anyone else because you "shook his hand." It was your own mistake.

I'm sorry you feel led on and had a difficult time with the one landlord, but you're wrong here and being a bit unfair. Major metro markets move quickly. If you'd seriously wanted that place, you needed to put in an offer on the spot. You can't leave and think about it. He didn't trick you or have an offer when you came and saw it, you just moved too slowly. It's happened to me, too. It sucks, but your characterization isn't fair at all.
