For beginners, I think fast rubbers with a slightly softer topsheet on a slow blade is the best combination. The blade is most important for the feeling

ERT has stated in the past that only if someone uses booster should go from max thickness to 2.1 or 2.15 because of expansion, that’s why the CNT uses 2.1 because these are preboosted so these expand and would be a risk on using a booster on max thickness sponge!!! Please ERT confirm if right, thanks you are the best!!! @pingsunday

Your glue application is perfect! Could watch it all day. In general, thinner sponge means slower speed which gives you effectively more dwelltime to engage topsheet. Disadvantage: slightly flatter arc and more power needed from back off the table. And of course, thinner sponge more predictable. Am i wrong? At least for my playingstyle, 1,8mm proved to be superior. Easier to go hard without ball shooting over the table. And chops, blocks and short layups are easier too. In the end you have to find a combo that suits your "average" comfortable stroke the best, just from a feeling standpoint. In one aspect i totally approve: handing beginners cheap bats and sheets is a big mistake.

Don’t you think that it’s more comfortable to play with a thin sponge against long pips?

The recommend to max thickness from this video is so misleading. any player doesn't matter which level should only choose rubber thickness which is PROPER for them. for beginner , if thickness is max out, their power NEVER able to passthrough sponge and build the feeling of blade, it actually will slow down player to build the right muscle memory. Any video call "trust me" is not trustable, simple reason is IF YOU KNOW MORE, YOU WILL HAVE MORE DOUBTS ABOUT THINGS.

Well said! Most amateurs play too thick - they'll never make real use of their blade charasteristics.

Thickness of rubber in table tennis blades depends on the player based on what type of game play he/she want, according to physical ability. Manufacturers and designers have already dismantled the barrier of traditional false beliefs about equipments...Technology is here! Weight, speed and control. Matters a lot. Using 70 grms of blade is better, less strain on wrist, than 85 to 92 grms stupidly! High tension rubbers are here!🤓 Why settle for old stupidly?! Remember, players are hitting ping-pong ball that weighed a few grams only !
