As much as I can understand the frustration with the game's greed (especially back when it had Spotlight Pipes), I would rather rant about it than sue. Spotlight Pipes got ranted out of existence and suing can be incredibly risky. The game is still greedy as heck, though.

This reminds me of the LJN Major League Baseball when a 9-year-old and his dad sued Nintendo, Major League Baseball, and LJN and lost to all of them. The 9-year-old and his dad attempted to appeal but it didn’t work out.

I was also that kid back in late 2019 and Janurary 2020. I spend around £300 on the game for a character I didn't get. And that was Mario (Hakama). I also want Mario (Happi), and Mario (Musician), which I sucessfully got. I didn't get Mario (Hakama) until Mario vs Peach Tour 2021 from the Token shop. Man I feel stupid for stealing my dad's money on gambling. I didn't know any better, I was 13 that time and I was extremely addicted to the game for nearly 3 years until I got bored of it back in June 2022. Not only because I got bored of it, also because I had GCSEs. I still play the game, but not as much as I used to. I played since launch, too!

These gambling based games had a bunch of issues a few years back. I remember Google Play refunded me about $2600 for in-app purchases that weren't authorized. I got an email one day, clicked the link, and got a full refund about 6 weeks later.

Mario Kart Tour actually has a point-based system unlike most most Mario Kart games and you get more points if you use rarer characters unlocked by spending in game currency that you get very little of just by playing or through buying special packs. So the game actively encourages you to spend real money to buy rare characters which give you point boosts and bonuses. In fact, rarer characters let you pick up two or three items per item box instead of just one.

Or are you just kissing Nintendo’s butt? On iPhones you put in your credit card information ONCE and that iPhone’s iTunes/App Store Account will be billed from one push of a button. One push of a button. Kids don’t read, they just click to get what they want. How about instead of pointing fingers and dancing around this clear scam, we address it and handle it through holding these companies(even Nintendo) accountable. Apple should’ve gotten rid of this practice and Apple’s lack of action in this makes me go after the industries causing it to effectively exploit children. I don’t blame the father or mother who works a full day then comes home to find their child bought a pointless transaction due to it being so easy to do with no restrictions in place. Shame on Nintendo and Apple.

Honestly it depends on the age range and the game in question to be completely honest with you… There was this KZbinr who talked about micro transactions and there was a lame basketball game where all you do is swipe the ball in. Very basic and for 12+ yr old kids even though the music sounded like it was designed for someone younger. It had a micro transaction with a single click of a button where it charged you $7 every day. Which is definitely a scam. Mario Kart Tour is a kid’s game too however should be handled differently, perhaps just give the parent a refund and settle it out of court. Nintendo fighting this, is just defending the awful treatment than fixing it. You know? Anyways, I just want companies to be held reasonable when clearly targeting children with these stupid transactions. That is all I’m saying.
