Another plus. Ferrets make great ESA’s (Emotional Support Animals) they are good if you have serve depression and Anxiety. This was how I got my babies. My first baby was trained as an ESA. I was surprised at just how quick these little guys sense when you’re feeling scared, sad, angry any of these things. Whenever I have a bad day my little guy would climb up to where I was and just roll up on me. He would lick my cheeks and nose and fall asleep with his little body wrapped around my neck. I actually cried the first time he did this with me cause I was so blown away at the reaction he had.

We had one ferret that was a problem-solving genius. I can't count the number of times I "escape-proofed" the enclosure in our finished basement, and my efforts kept 2/3 of of our ferrets in. But Rico would not give up. At one point I watched him relentlessly work out an increasingly improbably series of acrobatic leaps from and onto furniture items sprinkled around the room until he could attempt a sideways leap from a speaker onto the oblique edge of a 4-foot-high wall (with entrance gate) I had created. Each part of the series had a small chance of success, so this one time I watched him fail at various points over 100 times. Eventually he got himself into the position for the final, ridiculously improbably leap. Fail. Then another 100+ fails to work himself into that position again. Watching all of this, I was shaking my head in awe and horror. Finally, on that final leap he managed to hook one claw on the top rim of the wall, his body swinging back and forth from that claw due to the momentum of the leap. With a heroic move, he got his other front paw up. And that was it. Over and escape. Watching him figure out the sequence and then just RELENTLESSLY work on it was flat-out scary! I ultimately won by putting a wedge-shaped piece of rigid plastic along the top of the wall where he was trying to stick the landing. But ever-after I was never 100% sure that he couldn't figure out some other unforeseeable (by me) escape route. It's a good thing that Rico only cared about play and escape, or he would certainly have been plotting to overthrow world governments!

I use the ferret nation cages, 3 double sets hooked together. And an enclosure attached to the outside. They are spoiled rotten. My Cleo is like your Dobby she only weighs 1.5 lbs and really healthy. This explains why my first ferret and I bonded so well. Story time: when I bought my first ferret I was working at a local pet store. She was the last of the litter, and at the time she was VERY nippy and drew blood on just about anyone who handled her. I was wearing a leather jacket at the time and decided to attempt to get her to like me, and it went well. She crawled through the sleeves of my jacket and was even chewing on the wallet in my pocket. She didn't bite me at all. I did this a few times out of the week to bond with her and now she is my companion ❤ BTW if anyone knows of a high quality cat food to feed my ferrets which one should I go for??

I think there should be pet cafés where people can enjoy a variety of animals to play with to get the novelty out of their system and actually be sure if they want that kind of pet. But there's no obligation to buy them, they're just fully for show and they can direct you to respectable stores that sell the animal. Then you can see and play with ferrets, parakeets, snakes, hamsters, hedgehogs, etc without unfit owners buying them just because they're cute.

She has given us several proverbial heart attacks because she got outside and just happened to walk up and we found her but the worst and $500 US later was when I washed her full cycle in a front loader😩 We rushed her to the closest vet that would take her 25 minutes away and she wasn’t looking too good. Hypothermia. We prayed for her all night and the next morning the vet called and said she was acting like nothing ever happened. She has been normal ever since! I was panicking a couple months ago when I could not find her for 27 hours. I heard a scratch noise in the kitchen. My ferret had gotten closed in the towel drawer. Love these babies but you have to be soooooo careful with them. I give her 4- 10 hours full reign of our home most days.

They do smell but I don't think it's as bad as everyone thinks. My ferret sleeps around my room and roams around my house and the house doesn't stink (unless he poops somewhere). The bedding kind of smells but in my opinion it isn't such a bad smell (I like the smell of my baby lmao). But other people who aren't used to it might not. I used to live in a tiny apartment with two ferrets and friends never or rarely commented on the smell. Trust me, your life won't be ruined by their odour, it'll be ruined by their mischief lol !

At one point, I had 5 ferrets. 4 were adopted. They were the best pets I ever had. and while many don't suggest having ferrets around small kids, all 5 were wonderful to my two small kids who use to love watching them as the ferrets played with each other. My only female ferret was the absolutely sweetest ferret, and was NOT a Marshall ferret. the biggest cons to having ferrets is, 1. short life span 2. smell 3. medical bills. 4. missing pairs of shoes.

How to stop your ferret from pooping on that one specific spot on your room
@CAMAROG93 жыл бұрын
They make a spray called bitter apple. It's pretty safe on carpet and wood from my experience. Do NOT spray the ferret, spray the area they are going. Also - make sure their litter pan is clean or they will continue to look for another place to go.

Also a big pro: if you have the space and do proper research ferrets can live outdoors in an enclosure. Heat above 28C is dangerous however and above 32C can lead to heat stroke but they do very well in the cold just provide good nesting options (ex a small dog house with blankets) Ive even seen some people use a small cat door to allow access from the outdoor inclosure to an indoor playpen
@neovo9032 жыл бұрын
If you don't have the avaliable door, would it be possible to use one of those hvac tubes through a window to lead to an outdoor enclosure?

I’ve always wanted a ferret as a pet but what’s stopping me is that they bite quite a lot and I’m scared of the bites hurting, which is weird because I’ve had many animals like rabbits, guineapigs and hamsters 😄 But watching your adorable ferrets always make me smile, especially cute little Dobby!! They’re so sweet and melt my heart 💖💖

I have had these joyful animals for almost 20 years. Until the virus, I volunteered for a ferret shelter and fostered elderly or ill ferrets. I have 4 elderly males and a 3 year female at this time. Children have a tendency to play roughly so the ferret is more an adult's pet as they have little bones that could break. My ferrets have their own room which has an air purifier and change their bedding often. If you need ferret bedding look at Bedding By Jules, UK. They have the best cozy bedding for ferrets.

Just wanted to say something There is an account that pretty much abuses her ferret on tiktok, her @ is Fiona_carton (as i remember) The first video I've ever seen from her is her dying her ferrets fur, rainbow. She used chalk, and most people say its chalk pastels, though she claims its non-toxic and safe, and she blocks anyone who calls her out, just thought i should say something, and I'm not sure if you already know or not, but oh well

PRO: they smell really good 🤤 I always heard ferrets were smelly, which I took as a bad thing, but when I got the pleasure of meeting one I discovered that I REALLY LIKE IT! It is a strong, distinct odor, and it is rather musty, but it doesn't register to me as a dirty smell! Far better than human BO (;

Hahahahah- that took me back. I had four ferrets and they were just the chilliest ferrets you would ever see, they would rarely run around even though we gave them everything. They just were really calm, idk why but yeah. We had them for almost 7 years it was kinda funny watching other people with ferrets talk about how crazy their ferrets were.

Thank you Em and other viewers for recommending proper ferret food. It isn't a simple cut-and-dry topic at all; everyone has their own opinions. But in the end we all want what is best for our fur babies and that is to lead happy healthy lives. I don't trust Marshall's either, but for those who buy ferrets at pet stores, please don't stress. Even pet store ferrets need a good home. It's not their fault how they got here.
