Yes this song was big in 1992. Everyone went crazy when this video came out. The person singing lead on this song is Dawn Robinson. The other members are Cindy Herron (the tallest one), Terry Ellis, and Maxine Jones (the shortest one). Cindy and Terry are the only two original members that are still part of the group. They still perform to this day. En Vogue was very big in the early 1990’s especially. They can all sing lead and their harmonies are unmatched.

The one singing lead is Dawn Robinson. She was the first one to leave the group.

One of my fave En Vogue songs that hardly anyone reacts to. 😊❤ El DeBarge was also in this video along with Johnny Gill & several other popular men at the time. The main singer on this song is Dawn Robinson. She was also part of a group called Lucy Pearl for like 2 seconds with members of Tony! Toni! Toné! You should check out their hit “Dance Tonight” if you haven’t already.

Written by the great Curtis Mayfield ( now, THERE's a rabbit hole), made famous, originally by Aretha Franklin . You should hear that one!

Only they could’ve done this👊🏿2:43 They’re all leads, so they’re each other’s accompaniment

This song was huge back then and the video stood out as well. By the way, the dresses they wore in the video are at African American museum in DC.

This song was sung in the movie, the original sparkle, and one of the men that is sitting in the audience was in the original movie. I forgot what his name was, and the members of en vogue are Dawn, who is singing lead, Maxine, Terry, and Cindy

They song this live on the Arsenio Hall Show and it sounds even better. They had the moves and everything. They had those same red dresses on 🔥

This version definitely stands on its own two feet- but you need to hear Queen Aretha version🔥

The lead singer for this song is Dawn Robinson. All four ladies share lead on different songs, but Dawn leads or co-leads nearly all of their hits except Hold On. She's probably the group's most dynamic vocal stylist (Terry in the center has the most powerful voice, the shortest is Maxine who sings the bottom of the melodies and the tallest is Cindy who tends to sing the high harmonies). This song is a cover of a song by Aretha Franklin that was recorded for the original Sparkle movie in the 1970s. The video is inspired by the performance of this song in the original movie. This cover peaked at #6 on the pop charts. It actually did better on the pop charts than the Aretha version, which hit #28 (both versions topped the R&B charts)

More En Vogue to react to Part of Me (a killer ballad where all four ladies sing lead) Runaway Love (Terry, Cindy and Dawn on lead) Waiting on You (Dawn on lead. my favorite of her En Vogue leads) Give It Up, Turn It Loose (Maxine on lead) Mover (Maxine on lead) Desire (Terry and Cindy on lead) Just Can't Stay Away (Terry on lead) Love Don't Love You (Terry and Cindy on lead) Strange (Dawn and Maxine on lead) It's About Love (a midtempo bonus track that features all four ladies on lead) You can also react to Dawn's solo stuff. My recommendation is a song called "Read It In My Eyes"

Took growing up to be able to say: They didn’t have to do this song like this😫😫😫😫😫😫I was in my LATE THIRTIES realizing this was inspired by that scene (and that this song doesn’t belong to them😟😟). ONLY THEY could’ve done this. This video came out when I was T E N and I could recognize most of the FACES of who’s there😄😄😄😄#KidWithCable #DawnNeedsAWhoopin #ONLYTHEM #RIPBET

Speaking of female R&B vocal groups, have you reacted to any songs from June's Diary? If not, please do. The group was put together by Kelly Rowland some years ago but they never got the push they needed to break out. They did a Jodeci cover of Stay. Would love to hear your thoughts on it. There's a video version and an accapella version that's stellar.
