I don't know if someone's pointed it out already, but in Tokyo there's also Joe's name (ジョー) at 1:30 in a white sign, left to the "A-Team" (Aチーム) shop sign. There's also what I think could be the equivalent to "big conversation" written numerous times (すごい噂) and other song lyrics like "I wanna be your first string", "I wanna be your A-Team", "another ex-love you don't wanna see"... Nothing too relevant. But it's cute, I guess? x)

My thoughts: 1) Honestly thought that the license plate would say 1989. 2) Could the fireworks be a reference to Katy Perry's song Firework? As in, a subtle way to show that the two are cool with each other again? Sparks Fly also mentions fireworks. ("I'm captivated by you, baby, like a fireworks show"). 3) "My red lips" is a perfect reference to the Album Red. 4)I'm spilling wine in the bath tub, you kiss my face and we're both drunk" is a quote from Dress, not Delicate (sorry).

One of the interesting things about the letter A is that it was also prominently featured in the novel "The Scarlet Letter" by Nathaniel Hawthorne. Now, I know it is a huge stretch and in this video I'm quite sure it is both a reference to Alwyn and A-team (Alwyn-team?). But anyway, the Scarlet Letter was referenced by Taylor Swift in the song Love Story. In the novel Hester Prynne is required to wear a big A on her dress as a form of punishment and public humiliation. I cannot shake off the feeling that miss Swift has felt something similar during the last two years in terms of the media and the battles with other *hrrm* celebs. I am most probably way off the mark, but hey, I just toss it in here...

And it's "end up in the song," but that part is Ed Sheeran's anyway. Plus it's a love song and Taylor said all the reputation love songs are 100% about Joe

I am still amazed at how Tay's impact made us all into this sort of detectives. She never bores us. Even when she's gone for months, we can still feel her impact, like.. can any other artist do the same? She has so many positive effects on us... we make things like tryin to play guitar, sing, dance and remember not to care what they say, be investigators, make edits and fan made videos, etc.. and somehow, we are starting to find out that we are good in something. And I guess, this is what Taylor is most proud of about her being a role model..other people who hate her for being kind and generous and saying she's a fake are overlooking the fact that she's trying so hard to keep that image even if she knows she gets mad at times because she knows that there are a lot of younger fans that are looking up on her and she doesnt want any kid to get scolded just because he/she chose Taylor as his/her idol.. i hope they all see that

I'm a new swiftie, so these theories could be total wrong, but could the motorcycle scene in Tokyo also be a reference to Kill Bill Vol. 1, when Uma Thurman rides amongst her enemies in Tokyo? In Kill Bill Vol. 1, Uma also has her "list" and underlines "Bill" in red - like Taylor has a "list" from "Look What You Made Me Do." Also, there are fireworks throughout, perhaps this is a a tie-in to her Fourth of July parties... in previous years it might have been with people who weren't necessarily her "real friends," but in this video/this video, she's celebrating with her "real friends?" Or maybe it's a New Year's reference (like you said with her saying "Happy New Year") and foreshadowing "New Year's Day" at the end of the album. Also, the Polaroid pic - there is a line about "Polaroids on the hardwood floor" in "New Year's Day."

:nice , Some things I think should be addressed on the yacht- She toast alone for New Year's. that means the people on the yacht are not her friends. I totally agree with what you said about Katy. Hi Lauren, I have been watching your decoding videos and I JUST LOVE THEM but there is one thing about some of the songs in Reputation no one is talking about: Taylor Swift is repeatedly emphasising the fact that Joe is younger than her. 1. "Younger than my exes but he acts like such a man so" - Ready for it (even their birth years were written on the wall in RFI MV) 2. "I got a boyfriend he is 'older than us"- Gorgeous 3.
