Roland really needs to release their next gen line. I’m waiting to get the next flagship since the td50v2 is already outdated by dw
@PhatSimey11 ай бұрын
Agreed, but talking to a friend of mine, not sure they will release an update to the TD-50X module, as they've probably gone as far as they can with it? Next step would have to be a full set of digital pads, including toms and cymbals with a module to suit- 10 or so USB-C inputs, and some legacy analogue inputs too of course. The again, Roland owns DW, so the DWe kit would now be their flagship kit. My only real gripe with the TD-50X module is the hotspot performance is noticeably worse than the TD-27 module. Then again, the TD-50X is just a TD-50 with new graphics and a firmware update, the internal hardware is still nearly 8 years old!

Any recommendations for a kit with a double bass pedal, or is it better to just buy one separately?
@dontcareisaidit11 ай бұрын
Great video as always. I might grab the nitro mesh extension for the 358 at musiciansfriend cus i just need something to trigger the vst's and I wasted a year of my life on the simmons top of the line last year (not at your recommendation in videos no worries lol just shopping on my own and saw the huge kit size). The brain didn't work right, would be fine on it's own sounds but then cross talk was ridiculous between cymbals and pads anytime I used it as a midi trigger for any drum vst. Company couldn't help me when I finally reached out after a few months of issues so I finally just sold it to someone who wasn't going to use it for that intended use at a third of what I paid. I had better luck with an old alesis triggering vsti drums back in like 2012, but didn't know i was supposed to play lighter than a real kit.... killed the kick drum in a few months, wasn't covered lol. I figure i could use the mesh kit down the road when i upgrade to the real drum kit and mic it up and have extra special triggers like Danny Carey does (biggest inspiration)

What would be your advice about td17kvx2 VS td27kv (first version). At first i wanted to buy td17kvx2 but then I saw that if I added approx. 400€ I could buy the "old" version of the td27kv (not the td27kv2). It seems than the cymbal/hihat pads have been enhanced on the 27kv2 (the module v2 update is available also for old td27). I don't know if getting the latest td17kvx2 would be better than getting this 'old' td27kv especially for the cymbals.

I'm just getting into drumming, something I've wanted to do since middle school. I've just bought the TD-27KV2 from Guitar Center ($3k), and I'm wondering what you think about buying extended warranty? Bought the 3 year for $300. I wish the edrum site still had the Roland KD180L V-Kick option available. I'd return the set i got in an instant. I've left everything sealed in the box's just incase I came across a video like this. Thanks for any responses ahead of time.

If you have the money, I recommend extended warranty (unless it already comes with a comparable warranty from the retailer). My personal opinion is I feel much more at ease, with such a big purchase, knowing it’s covered..esp with so many different electronic components. Good luck!
@dbzcollector996310 ай бұрын
At that price point I would definitely get an extended warranty, I went cheaper since I have zero experience on drums and a more expensive kit would just be waisted on a beginner like me. I went instead with an Alesis surge mesh kit for like 400$ and it plays great no need to worry about warranty’s or anything since it’s a fairly inexpensive kit that still plays like a higher end one.
