I would love a storygraph video and why you prefer it! I'm looking to switch in the new year but I don't find it super user friendly 😅

Based on your love for Last Call at the Local (which is now on my TBR), I have to recommend Abby Jimenez as an author!! Specifically the “Part of Your World” series (also stand alone books but with interconnected characters). I started with the 3rd book and LOVED IT. She consults with psychologists and therapists on her characters and her portrayal of mental health issues and topics is, thus far, unmatched for me. Highly recommend.

yes!! she's been on my radar for a while and I feel like I've been saving up her books like gold. I'm soooo excited to get into her books next year💗

I didn’t like the Secret History either!!! Bought myself the Acotar set for christmas to try next year. I’ve been really into series this year: read all of the Miss Marple books from Agatha Christie, Fourth Wing and Iron Flame, The Naturals series, and somehow also managed a trip down memory lane rereading the Twilight and Harry Potter series. Loved Lessons in Chemistry, Hello Beautiful and Funny Story. I read mostly classics last year, and really enjoyed something different this year ❤️

Homegoing was my top book when I read it in 2019! Totally agree, 6 stars. For your literary fiction journey i recommend Lauren Groff - not for everyone maybe but they work for me, still need to pick up her newest. Ooh, and also Ann Patchett. Can't go wrong with her books from the last 10 years.

Loved this! I added Homegoing to my tbr, it sounds so interesting and I’m sure will be enlightening. My book rec for you in a possibly a different genre is The Salt Path by Raynor Winn. Enjoy the holidays and see you in 2025 😊

Always love hearing your thoughts 😍 my overrated book of the year has been The Will of the Many. So many people said it was their fave of 2023, but imo it was way too long and could have definitely been at least 25% shorter. T. Kingfisher is also among my fave authors discovered this year! Eventually I'd like to read her whole back list.

I also want to read more 500+ pages books. They intimidate me, but they are often worth it! Also looking forward to reading your recs in 2025 😍

Manga recs for you: Spy x Family (you don't pronounce the x), Ascendance of a Bookworm, A Sign of Affection, Kaguya-sama: Love is War

Highly recommended Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor for a dip into Fantasy. I have trouble world building with some writing, but no troubles with this. I fell in love with the characters and it got me out of a reading slump. Five stars and I also rated the other book in the series five stars.

ooo thank you for the rec!! adding to my tbr right now

I wonder if The Secret History would be better on a reread? I feel like there were so many intellectual things that I probably missed. But yeah, the unlikeable/unreliable character trope has NEVER worked for me. I need to be rooting for my main character or the book's not gonna work for me. It wasn't until about 50% in that I got even A LITTLE interested. If you ever decide to do a reread, maybe we can do a buddy read and commiserate together LOL

so down! hahha I agree a reread would probably be a better experience
