I daily drive and autocross on my 225/45r15 RT660s, they have been great. But tire pressure is what I'm always fighting with. I've seen people suggest low in the 25-28 range like you have, but doing so causes way to much roll over for me. I'm always having to push them to 36-40 psi to really get the most out of them. I've got about 5k miles on them and 6 autocross events and they will probably hold out for another 2k at most.

Good point about pressures. Autocross will be a completely different application versus sprint racing or endurance racing. The course usually won't be rubbered in, its slower speed, and the temperature buildup and soak is very different.

I daily these year round on my Elise. I'm on my third set and get about 12k miles out of them.

Hey Roy, I went to the Firm ( a localish tight 1.6 .mile track) yesterday on some old used rt660 leftover from Road Atlanta or older. If they were from Road Atlana , they had about 13 hrs on them. I used them for practice yesterday because they had lots of rubber left, but were very blue(oils coming out?) Cold, i ran them as they were starting at 24 front and 25 rear. After about 7 laps, they were up to 30 on the passenger side and 31 on the driver side . I dropped them a couple more lb to see how they felt . The slightly lower pressure allowed me to be more consistent, although my fastest laps were the 3rd, 4th and 5th laps before lowering the pressures. Btw, my times yesterday were the fastest ever in the car and more consistent than even. So im very happy about that. I was considered about the tires getting a little greasy after about 7 laps, but its a right, short track with little time to disipate the heat and it was 90 degrees out

Yeah, I definitely felt greasiness when I got loose, but I made sure not to slip on the next two corners and they would come back. Temps were only in the 70s though and that was at Road America with the new surface.

I’ll never get another set of 660s. I went through 10 of those down to the cord at a Lemons 24 hour. The 615+ wore much less fast, even Nitto NT05 didn’t wear like that. Most of us are RS4 buyers now and in the future.

Do you mind sharing the specs on your car? Weight, drive wheel, HP, and the tire size? It seems like you got about 9.6hours our of a set. My guess is they could last about 16 hours or so, which should be the same as a V730 and double the CR-S.

@@ruggedbadgerracing 205/50/15. 1974 ford Pinto, 2000 lbs , RWD with a spool. Not sure about HP, 150-200 maybe. High spinning 2.3. We won C class that race, it was a full 24 hour. Identical setup at another race but with RS4, they wore 2x better. Even the Nitto NT05 was better

For us, 660 is minimum 3-4 seconds faster than 615k, and then slightly more faster than the RS4. RS4 lasts 2 lemons races plus practice day before heat cycling out but good for additional practices, 615K about equal, trading wear and heat cycle capacity. 660 is 1 race and next practice day. 3500lbs, maybe 300Hp, 245 to 265 wide, even tried 315, tip of spear laptime capability car for lemons. 660s grease up hot, they don't tolerate being overdriven, and takes a couple laps to cool for us. Keep that slip angle in check and alignment and they're fine for endurance. Brass tacks is running 660's doubles the tire budget, so if 3 seconds a lap is worth that to you, spend away.
@ruggedbadgerracing3 ай бұрын
3-4 seconds is pretty crazy. I would guess 1.5 seconds faster than an RS4. Was the 615K that much slower?
@suprakillavr43 ай бұрын
@@ruggedbadgerracing The 660 can't sustain that pace though, which is the important thing. You have to drop the pace back a bit from its peak speed for a race pace. During a race I've amped it up to catch someone and run purple laptimes. Rs4 or 615s never had that capability for me, their race pace was really all I got from them

Its a Titan. I purchased it from Fuelish Customs in Wisconsin and he delivered and installed it to! Great experience with them and I strongly recommend! fuelishcustoms.com/ No affiliation, just a happy customer of theirs.

in my experience Falkens last twice as long as RE71Rs, about half the RS4 (RS4's loose grip at 5-6/32s)
@ruggedbadgerracing3 ай бұрын
That sounds about right in my experience, although you can run the RS4s for eternity, they'll just be rocks, like you mentioned.
