Your tutorials are excellent. I'm fairly new to the creative scene as the station is just getting into video. I would very much like to see your break down After Effects into segments. I just watched your keying techniques video and learned quite a bit. At the end of the video, you revealed your final product. I wanted to ask how you added in the background you had there? I want to put this Stardust in another comp, but after pre-comping the three layers, the Solid Composite effect in the 2nd adjustment layer blocks out the content under the pre-comp layer. I can see everything when I turn down the opacity of the Solid Composite (or when I just delete the effect), but then that takes away the color from the curve.

Maybe a stupid question, but I wanted to create something similar to this with Stardust - my "energy ball/wave" is just a bit smaller and with a bit different look - but, after doing the composite solid in order to add glow/stylize-effects, how do I go about compositing it into my footage? I've tried both using screen blending mode and the technique you taught in the fog-compositing video using "shift channel" and basing the alpha channel on the luminance. No matter what I try it feels like the composite looked more natural before compositing the solid, and then again that kind of feels counterproductive in the first place since I don't want to composite it to a solid bg. Is there a way to add the effects without the solid composite or am I compositing it the wrong way?

Yeah don't render as AVI. My favorite render settings are Quicktime with H264 compression. Don't be afraid of video compression, quality changes are very minimal but file size difference is substantial.

Output Module (Lossless) > (Change Format to Quicktime) Format Options > Video Codec Make sure Quicktime is installed to your computer.

Try creating an effect similar to 5:15 and then using a polar coordinates effect to generate the radial structure.

Yes, the latest versions of Particular have two Spherical Field parameters in the Builder interface which can be used to create similar wormhole type effects on the particles. Edit to say... I'm actually referring to Trapcode Form, not Particular. Try using the latest TC Form for this, it should be quite simple to do there.
