“It could snow here and there” . Not “could” (which implies rarely) but it definitely does snow in Istanbul every year. Sometimes heavy, sometimes not so much but definitely snows. Most Americans are surprised to find out we get snow in Istanbul. Their preconceived notion they subconsciously have is that Turkey is in ”Middle East” which they associate with year-long hot weather. By the way, I am glad you showed that side of Istanbul . I hate it when the tourists come to only Topkapi, Taksim, Eminoni and that is all they see and assume that is how the rest of Istanbul looks like when it is actually much more beautiful and modern than the touristic parts of the city. So, it is good to show them the beautiful Bebek/Istinye parts.

Hugely overpriced by at least 2.5x in my view. Yes it’s got a beautiful view of the Bosporus but the architecture/interior design is all wrong. There are casting Shadows everywhere when there should be plenty of natural of light due to those huge windows. Also, for $25mil it should be polished top to bottom whereas I am seeing timbers cladding panels that need re-lacquering, huge air con units in rooms etc. People in the comments saying the same are correct it’s not worth it. $8mil tops. House prices in Turkey is getting extremely out of whack, yes there is inflation but It’s disproportionate. I am turk by the way.

@Eric_In_SF3 жыл бұрын
Spectacular. This is why I love traveling. Whenever you think America does everything great you just need to look around somewhere else to see how somebody else does it so much better. First of all the surroundings are amazing. Then to the apartment, those steps! Are you kidding me! Buckles! And then that crocodile kills me. I love it. The columns with the chipped concrete make it feel old and warm even though it’s a cold gray surface. I love that it’s low ceiling and wide and they’ve kept everything narrow so the view does not get blocked. Those thin pin lights chandelier, and that fireplace recessed into the floor. Not to mention that tree and how long and jagged the branches are. It’s like a piece of art that was placed there That helps frames the view perfectly. also to reiterate why it’s worth 25 million, It’s about the materials used as well. The flooring alone was probably $2 million. Countertops in the bathroom that are semi precious stone can cost thousands of dollars a square foot, not to mention high-end doors and appliances. Light fixtures can be thousands of dollars each. Then add the labor. You don’t use run-of-the-mill laborers to install the flooring. I’ve had a friend build one of these houses and had every bathroom tile handmade overseas and imported so that they fit perfectly into the bathrooms. There are details on top of details that people don’t even think about. Like the leather stairs. Just Imagine they hired one of the finest leatherworkers in Europe it would cost you $5000 for each step. And finally to iterate what Mikey says. There is something just super cool about Europe. They can be flashy and stylish and sophisticated without that In your face excessiveness. And I’m already watching the next video and the house is just so monolithic in Los Angeles. Not to mention we’re talking about cultures and societies that have been doing things for a gazillion years before America ever existed.
@kastallion3 жыл бұрын
I love your enthusiasm, but the house is mostly priced that much because its targeted at big pocketed western clients. As a member of born and raised in Bosphorus family, (for multiple generations) $25M price tag could sound overpriced, and it's totally understandable. For me and my close circle, Bosphorus and the beauty of Istanbul are the only things that keeps it bearable for us, for the past 10 years. In addition to this, comparing Istanbul to anywhere in the US would be like, comparing somewhere in the US to Dubai. Man can make lots of things upon will, but man can't go back in time, and make history (at least for now). Another reminder, for people who would compare Istanbul to beautiful cities with historic heritage in Europe or somewhere else, would be the color of the water that's running through it. It's usually brown in the top cities, but in Istanbul it's BLUE, what a magnificence... And about the cost of such property, there can't be any estimation of what amount you will have to pay, for legalizing such conversion, as Bosphorus coast line has a special status for reconstruction licenses. Sometimes can't be done by solely money, sometimes can be done with even negligible amount of money, depends on your relations, property's situation, other people's complaints etc. But can easily be $7figures depending on the finished property value and things may not be guaranteed forever... I know many ghost houses on the Bosphorus coast line, that are owned by people with more than enough money for reconstruction, but can't be used due to impossibility of renovating and living in them. About "brand" value of Turkey, I am aware of the bad situation. The total worth should be considered, consisting of lower brand value but higher ingredient value. I mean If Turkey was better engaged to the west and everything was more stable and finally considering the neighborhood (Bebek-means baby in English) being in top 3 of the most expensives in Istanbul, $25M tag wouldn't be discussed here, it would be a bargain 🤣

If your interested in to buy/rent a flat in istanbul with a view of bosphorus, i'd recommend you to check asian side first. You may come across some bargains there for sure. Scenic and unique view is better in the asian side especially in the sunsets. Currently, im paying $500/m rent for a 1000sqft flat with a full view of the Bosphorus. You'd never want to live the home no matter if its day or night, sunny or cloudy, winter or summer... A dreamlike mesmerizing place to be live on, take my words lads. Btw, Enes and Mikey, your doing great job guyz. Keep it up ;)

Great apartment. But 25 million is insanity considering the TV in the kitchen is 10 inches thick and looks like it’s from the late 90s. If you’re spending upwards of 25 million every electronic and appliance should be state of the art.

I think the price reflects historic location that is older than all cities in USA and most of western world. Istanbul is literaly center of the world, and city with history and culture like no other.
