True. Or simply make them feel better. I work in a gaming arcade, and people are often stressed out from losing a lot of money. The saddest thing is when they win, but they're still not happy because they lost so much more. I can't change that, but I'd be like "Hey, that's 700€ LESS loss!" or something like that. Or I get out the special chocolates. Or whatever it takes, I mean, some people just want to be left alone, of course. Anyway, I hear quite often that they appreciate my efforts to make them feel better again just by being positive and often quite ridiculous as well. (Like when I told someone that maybe he doesn't win, because the universe only gives you what you need, not what you wish for, and obviously, he got everything he needs already, material-wise.)

ENFP-personalities are like chameleons: we adapt to what feels needed in each situation again; we love harmony. Therefore we can switch from more extravert (enthusiasm) to introvert (observing), from using our senses to using our intuition. It depends on the situation which of the 8 qualities fits best for that time /place/person.

Reading a room - dead on! My husband (my exact opposite - ISTJ) is fascinated by how I can sense mood shifts. I can tell when something is weighing on his (or anybody's) mind as soon as it happens. I'll just say to him, "what's up?" or "what's on your mind?" And he's like, "how do you DO that? How do you just KNOW?" He calls me a witch. That ENFP “power” of sensing moods and vibes, I always have sensed them. I could tell what the mood was by the atmosphere. I still need time to build upon this skill (sometimes I pick up a false vibe by tricking myself) but I can usually sense mood changes, just not realizing it. I’ll try to be more perceptive on this. There is one other “power” I noticed and I’m not sure if this is common among ENFPs or it’s just an ability of mine, but I am able to draw people out of their shells and open up to me. Lots of my friends are introverted and my brother and I (we’re both ENFP) can easily befriend them and make them relaxed despite their unwillingness to open up.

I’m an INFJ getting married to an ENFP and I can confirm that she is very good at the two things mentioned in this video. She is in school to become a teacher and is friends with everyone (this can be exhausting for me as an introvert). One thing she struggles with is: she says yes to help everyone and as a result has very little time to focus on herself. She becomes exhausted and overwhelmed. I am trying to help her learn how to kindly say no in these times, but just wanted to let you all know in case you find yourself struggling with the same thing. Keep your head up, you’re a very kind person and love to help people, but sometimes it helps to have a day to rest. Have a great day.

Totally agree! Every time I start at a new Company, I am always thrown into the deep end without training. Which I figure out the systems and processes very quickly and then within a short period of time, I end up knowing more than most people. I pick up things very quickly. Then yes, I always read rooms and people and most of the time, know how to be a chameleon in that situation to understand and communicate to each person individually. And I always look at both sides of the coin! I didn't know that most people cannot do this. It always baffled me why other people cannot understand both sides of the story. From a fellow ENFP :)

*Totally* agree with the fact we can sense a shift in the mood as around us. When it happen's, my heart drops a bit, and it's like an internal alarm; reminding me to shift the way I am acting with those people. Edit: *ALSO* the part where we see both sides of a conversation! I couldn't tell you how many times I've diffused my parents or friends arguments after pointing out both of their sides that they haven't understood, and pointing out/softening it so they can see the other perspective. I love this video because I thought these things were normal, but I feel really special because of these powers! :)

Seeing both sides of the conversation can be a blessing and a curse - I love being able to do it and don't understand how others can't (Although I somehow do, cause I also understand THEIR perspective too, but it's still strange). On the other hand I hate reading comments under controversial posts cause I understand how both sides come to their conclusions or (in other cases) they just absolutely miss each other's points... It's the same with family arguments. I feel the argument coming up before it starts and I hate seeing them completely dismiss the underlying problems. It's the worst when you understand both sides in that situation, cause it's impossible to pick a side since both are right in a way, but everyone wants you to do so. It's still a great skill tho & I wouldn't want to trade it in for something else ever

Are you going through a lot of stress at the moment? Are you depressed? Fi makes ENFPs introverted when they are depressed because they must process their emotions alone. ENFPs are very likely to see themselves as introverts. I am and an ENFP male and the most extroverted person you will ever meet, but even I was introverted in the past, especially when I was depressed. It depends on how emotionally mature you are. It takes time to fully develop your personality
@JJJJJVVVVVLLLLL7 жыл бұрын
CancerResearch yeah. That seems very accurate.
@Fa11enAngell7 жыл бұрын
Depressed or seriously stressed ENFP’s become introverted as all get out. We are the most introverted of all the extroverted E types. ENFP’s actually can overstimulate and overwhelm themselves without realizing because they want to keep extroverting all the time and socialize a lot, then we crash into home bodies who never go out or do anything if we let this go on too long. We crash.

@Nowheregirl19736 жыл бұрын
Starburst so true! I’m currently in that crash phase. But it’s ok because I need to repair and strengthen my protective layer. Being empathic as well I have absorbed too much negativity from people. The older I get the better I get at recognizing people and situations I need to stay away from. It’s exhausting being able to pick up on everyone’s energy and most people don’t notice yours at all. It’s like our personality type is the truth seer and feeler for the human race.

I can hear a thousand of us ENFPs saying "wow! I'm not alone." These 'superpowers' are so true. I'm 33 years old and in the last 13 years I've been a Senior-Level Maintenance Director in Assisted Living, a National Delegate w/various other political positions, an Economics Seminar Presenter, a Missionary to South Africa, a Pastor, a Home Church Planter, a Musician with professionally recorded/produced original music, and currently a house remodeler in a new state. It's been a real struggle sometimes feeling that there is something wrong with me....also a 4w3 on the Enneagram. So, there ya go. Life, in a way, is w playground and if I could live 1,000 years and do 100s of more things I think I might go for it.

Since I was a young girl like 12 years old, I noticed how I was able to have conversations with all different types of people with different interests. When I became a teenager it became abundantly clear to me that I know a little about everything. Meanwhile, many people have only a handful of things they really know about. I feel like that was why I had a hard time being friends with girls/women in general. The majority of the time they only had a few interests such as hair, makeup, relationships, etc. and even though I’m a hairstylist I care deeply about politics, philosophy, video games, animation, motorcycles, the list goes on and on. Even though I may not be a master in anything besides hair and RPGs I love that I have all this knowledge about different things

I personally have struggled with mediocrity my whole life. I feel like there are things I'm average at, but not good enough to use them for a career. So I feel like I lead a mundane and unfulfilling life instead. I struggle to find the motivation to master anything. I think it is also a fear that if I try my best and my best isn't good enough, I'm a failure. So I don't push myself. I often look for affirmation and encouragement from others to believe I can excel at something before I decide to pursue it. The second power you talked about makes 150% sense to me. I could be talking with someone and slowly have moved 20 feet away from them and they are still talking to me. Or I won't be contributing to a conversation at all besides "mhm" and "oh yeah" and they never pick up the social cues that I'm not interested and we need to change subjects. I can instantly tell when someone isn't interested in what I'm saying. I don't get offended by it, I just maneuver the conversation until they start to participate. I can also feel the shift in a room. When tension is thick, I feel it immediately. When feel I've offended someone, I know instantly. If someone is unusually quiet, my attention is drawn towards them and I start analysing them to try and figure out what changed for them. It is a skill I didn't realize was unique to me. This is mind-blowing! Also, there are countless times I've had to mediate two people's conversations and explain each ones perspective until they understand the other's side. I have the ability to see several perspectives, even when I don't agree with one and explain it in a neutral manner.

As an ENFP I was curious about it and happened upon this video. I wanted to see what superpowers I might have. When you spoke about reading a room. That’s actually a form of clairvoyance called clairaudience. Here is a link explaining it and all of the other subsets. enhalems.com/communication/?fbclid=IwAR2jaSOFgNjLVOEQrlsBoW5s8Hrxpv2UGof2BF76hC7Lm9Whbq14efF_wtc I actually am all four but only recently. I had a dissociative fugue that “unlocked” something. I discovered I had what is called acquired savant syndrome which is the psychological term used today. The fugue was a reaction from a prescription of topomax that was giving me suicidal thoughts. I literally thought god was talking to me through the tv. When “god” told me to “just kill myself”. I literally yelled “fuck that and fuck you.” Party my French. blogs.scientificamerican.com/observations/brain-gain-a-person-can-instantly-blossom-into-a-savant-and-no-one-knows-why/ At the same time this cause what felt “rewired” my brain if that makes sense. It unlocked all four parts of my brains intuitive thinking. www.google.com/amp/s/exploringyourmind.com/the-4-types-of-intuitive-thinking/amp/?fbclid=IwAR2VfgYf_aaZER6F6eobwVJ_DzrYisumqCFBKuKPDkFoZSDsp73QRCW_odA For example when I talk to people, it’s like I am talking to them “spirit to spirit” if you will. When people use the analogy “walk in someone shoes”. That’s how I talk to people now. I talk to them like I am literally standing in their shoes with them on an emotional level. To put it simply, i now add feelings to my word with any dialogue I have with someone. These are the best examples I can share with you. The feelings I would say what happened to me would be.... Ok, in the film Matrix. Neo wakes up out of the matrix. Then goes on the gauntlet of mental training and/of self discovery. Literally dumping all of my fears and deep self esteem issues that were hard wired into our brains since birth from all of society. Parents, family, schools, religion, government, media...pretty much everything that we interact on a daily basis. I just wanted to share this with you. As an ENFP, I thought it might interest you. I can’t speak for you either or if you will even see this? Thanks if you do....🧠✌🏼❤️

So spot on. And really are amazing super powers. I really believe that throughout my Air Force Service career that “drop into a mess” idea really was the catalyst for my success. As an ENFP you just seem to “know things” that others don’t always figure out as fast. Yes, a gifting. I really like the “reading the room” point too. It’s like “people watching” with a purpose. Got to be careful not to use the gifts to manipulate (even unwittingly).

Well that makes a lot of sense. Theres always times where I notice a mood change, even if it's slight, in someone. Then when I ask them what's wrong, they usually will say nothing is wrong and I will reply "No something is wrong." After that they usually tell me whats on their mind of happening. I don't know how I/we do it but it's kind of always just there. I can even tell by the way someone is messaging that something is off. It is a great skill to have.

Nailed ALL of me and a lot of my experiences. I'm happy to know there in nothing wrong with me. I've been raised around a lot of SJ's and I've been ridiculously misunderstood, wrongfully directed and judged for not choosing one thing and sticking with it until I die! I'm talented in achieving many goals and have a lot of talent in random things. Again, this confuses people who want to "guide" me into THAT thing, and I either do it and not for long or reject it. Many don't get we're not meant to be mainstream or aligned with just one career or path. I've also found that even though I'm "scattered " when i need to I'm amazingly organized, disciplined and can accomplish any goal I set for myself with grand flair and success. I've also found that when I'm creative organization and staunch discipline may not work in my favor, I need to stay fluid. At 49 years young it's been a struggle, BUT I take a look back on my life thus far and I've accomplished a lot more than most. In fact many would be afraid too. I've gotten 3 degrees, one a masters, graduated with honors on two. Had my own daycare with high national certifications, I've had two spiritual businesses one is coaching with astrology which is pretty successful and growing, I've got 4 spiritual initiations in 4 traditional practices, over 30 spiritual certifications, I've been a make up artist, face/body painter- a full time parent, and now I'm grooving back to my soul with my first choice in my late teens that I got steered away from by my ISTJ father, and ExxJ mother-creativity. I'm currently working on a memoir, short-story and erotic author! Did I mention voice acting? 😜 I love me and an ENFP! There is always room to explore and thrive!!!

I think I'm a different ENFP :P I developed a passion for Math, Physics and Science itself... Because I LOVE science, new discoveries, new ideas... for me everything is connected! I found myself in Computer Science and it went very well. I think Artificial Intelligence is really interesting too! Reading scientific articles, papers. The Science itself, for me, is completely amusing... :D I LOVE logics too, I always were good at on school, like a natural talent. And I never get bored! Because there is always something new to learn and each problem was like an Enygma to me: I Love Patterns! I can see myself reading people emotions very easily too btw :) It is crazy how we can be good at different areas. It is our Fi, the secondary cognitive function of our stack. Ne + Fi together has a tremendous power. When we like something, we go 200% for it!

I'm an ENFP who works the room as a standup comic in a swami's robe doing funny psychic readings for people -- this after having been a professional psychic astrologer for 40 years doing over 50,000 personal readings. I have to read the room as well as most of the people in it. And it's hard for me to do one thing (I also sing and play music, write, play chess, and dabble in politics). My wife of 18 years is more an ISTJ (but borderline on all the opposite values -- I make her more an ISTJ than she may want to be just to handle me!). I can tell someone's Myers-Briggs within seconds just talking with them -- and one day when I have the time want to develop a program for showing the correspondence between the whole astrology chart and the Myers-Briggs type of individual, thus proving the validity of astrology.

I've been in that situation, it's frustrating because you bring so much newness and life to life. And yet he might resent having his routine messed with, even though it seems to you such an improvement. But if you have enough common interests, it can be your advantage; he can see the roadblocks and steer things from disaster, and you can show him the sunny meadows behind the clouds, so the road you travel has meaning.
