I dont kow why I'm watching this english video😂, but as Koreans, I want to explain more! I'm not good at English, but I hope people recognize that this drama was amazing at that time in Korea!! I heard Jeju Island is more conservative than peninsula such as Seoul, Busan, Incheon... , especially for elder people from my Jeju friends. If I remember correctly(I was younger), the first mega hit queer movie is 왕의 남자(it's historical movie, The Royal Jester, literally translation is the man of the king). And 2008, I watched lesbian couple on drama (The Paint of the wind, also historical drama). And then 2010 Life is beautiful was aired. It was meaningful that the gay couple was mentioned on the main airwaves(KBS, MBC, SBS). In addition, Life is beautiful was a weekend drama, so the backlash was even more severe at that time. This is because weekend evening dramas are more conservative than weekday evening dramas.(I think Korea is still conservative country even though we're changing and accept?embrace? rapidly) Anyway, this drama is so good plz watching this!

I watched life is beautiful for the first time when I was 18 and I joked around with my best friend that Tae-sub and Kyung-soo were my gay dads. I loved them as a couple and every few years I return to the series just to watch it all again. To this day it's one of my favorite K-dramas, which says a lot with the amount of them I've watched over the years. I'm 25 now, and I would like to think that this drama helped me become a better person in some way, maybe not anything big but it changed me regardless

Life Is Beautiful was my last Kdrama that I watched in full length. After that, I'm not interested anymore in other conventional Kdrama up until now. That's just how powerful this drama is and become my number one Kdrama ultimately. Fortunately we have Korean BL nowadays so no more Kdrama for me except for Life Is Beautiful. Thanks for your informative and entertaining video.

i first watched some clips of this drama back when i was still in the closet on youtube, probably in 2014. it helped me navigate through my journey of accepting my sexuality. i came out in 2015 to my friends and family. somehow it gave me courage, to tell them and the realistic depiction of the goods and the bads that might happen to me surely helped. thanks for talking about this. despite them being the main characters, the whole family is just warm and lovely.... despite the many episodes it has, it's definitely worth our time. "Life is Beautiful" is definitely beautiful❤

You can watch Life is Beautiful on the SBS website (without subs) and dramacool/kissasian (with subs)! Note: I know many of you guys expected my next video to be about IPYTM. I watched the series a few weeks ago, and uh... I didn't really like it. I was originally planning to publish a review of the series, but to be completely honest, I really don't enjoy making negative videos/talking about series I don't like. It's mentally and emotionally exhausting, and to put it plainly, I'm really not up for it right now. Maybe sometime in the future I'll get around to talking about it--buttttt anyways, I'm super sorry if you were looking forward to my review. As always, thank you for watching!

thank you!!!!! i've watched about 4 family weekend kdramas (50-55 hour episodes) now from online recommendations and they were nice and they made me feel good in parts for sure, but by the time i got to the 3rd and 4th drama, it was 'fatiguing' to have all the characters get paired up like clockwork. in all 4 dramas, families with 3-5 children and even the side character relatives all go through a mini standard kdrama arc of boy meets girl --> they get married or it's only a matter of time until they do. i was starting to wonder if there was no other life path, or no other version of a happily ever after they wanted the audience to see...enter: your video on my sub feed! :) it makes me a bit annoyed that this drama isn't recommended more often (literally the first time i've heard of it) and i'm annoyed at myself too for not looking around hard enough. but thank you for doing the lord's work! I'll start this one asap!

I watched this series years ago via clips on KZbin in the US. I was hooked immediately and went looking for comments by the actors during various interviews. I remember there was one panel where both the actors were discussing the reason for no kiss between the characters. The clip I saw was subtitled in English, but when I tried to find the interview later, I could only find the Korean version. Anyway, they both implied it was because SBS put the pressure on the writer and producers to delete kissing scenes that the writer had originally in the script. Both actors felt that there should have been a serious kiss between the characters. There was also a great photo shop of Lee Sang Woo kissing Song Chang-eui that a fan made. It was photo shopped from a different K-drama with Lee Sang Woo and an actress--who I can't remember.

14:17 'why have so few people heard of this drama?' in case you are interested: I am an older West European who discovered _Life is Beautiful_ around 2018 and watched excerpts of it on YT. if it didn't elude me (and noone would claim I'm anywhere near the intended target audience) then maybe it is more widely known than you expect. regardless, it's a shame it didn't receive more love from the network.

@@Pastellyn that's regrettable. unfortunately, even advanced western countries are in no position to gloat. for example, the US may have passed some equality laws but a constitutional amendment to secure all that has been in the works since 1972 and never passed the necessary threshold, all deadlines expired by now. in Italy, lobbying by the Catholic church has repeatedly prevented the passing of laws aimed at improving the case for victims of hate crimes (gay bashing etc); also not encouraging was a recent poll conducted in Denmark, the first country which provided a legal framework for same-sex civil partnerships back in 1989. more than 30yrs later around 30% of Danish men still consider laws like this (and subsequent updates to same-sex marriages) as unnecessary or even wrong.
