For one week I had the pleasure to travel through one of the most amazing landscapes of China's Northwest - Qinghai. It is famous for its big salt lakes on the open high planes and amazing mountain ranges. But not only nature, also Qinghai's culinary side makes it worth visiting. Fresh lamb and yak meat are local specialties that often get served just boiled in water and some salt. Dipped in local chili pepper sauce this simple dishes prooves the high-quality ingredients. How did you get to know Xining and decide to visit? I was there two weeks ago. I agree: it's a hidden gem. If you get a visa that allows you to travel extensively in China, I'd definitely put Qinghai on my list. Beautiful nature and great culinary experience. Very different experience vis-a-vis Beijing, Shanghai. Other places also on my list: Xi'an, Yunnan, Sichuan, Guizhou. Have fun, Mr. Xiao Hu. Please keep sharing with us your journeys and insights. By the way, Austrian cuisine (especially dessert) is wonderful. Kaiserschmarrn...nom nom nom.

Thank you for your comment and interest in my videos! :) I live in China and have often heard about the beautiful mountains in Qinghai. As an Austrian that grew up in the Alps, I knew I want to see Qinghai. Therefore decided to make a big round travel trip from Xining through Qinghai to Dunhuang in Gansu province. Then back through Gansu into Qilian, Qinghai and back to Xining. :) It was a great trip and with an standard mainland travel visa all these areas are accessible. The diversity of landscapes on this route are breathtaking. Highlands, lakes, desserts, mountains. I especially liked Qilian...it's a wonderful place and I will probably go back there to spend an entire week only in this region. Also the other regions you mentioned are very much worth visiting. Yunnan is next on my list. :D I wish you many more beautiful travels in China and around the world. Hope I can bring you further travel inspirations! Kaiserschmarrn indeed is delicious. My most favourite Austrian dish. Haha.

There are some special permits needed for these regions but I will definatelty visit them in the future. I have heared a lot about the beautiful mountains.

I will definitely try to balance my recipes and also show some diet dishes. Reality though is that as of this moment most of my fans watch through Chinese social media and diet food was not that popular till now. KZbin audience seems more open to healthy food. As my KZbin channel grows I will put more focus on this topic. :)

We eat Chinese cuisine mostly going with rice，otherwise they usually taste too salty or spicy，too strong for eating them without rice or alcohol

Remove the skin and eat garlic directly with beef or lamb. A bite of meat with a sip of raw garlic tastes good. But after eating garlic, you need to chew a piece of gum.
