Great video, simple and to the point. My Low rider arrived at the Harley dealers from U/S today all crated up, and first thing I want to do is put one of these Engine Bars on. Picking up the bike in two days. Graham, Australia.

Just put a guard on my 2019 FLHC ........ The bolt holes were just a bit out of alignment...... :-( .. Getting your fingers up under that centre frame mount is a pain in the arse!! but with a bit swearing and jiggling about finally got it all mounted right. ..

I just installed my second one this weekend and that center frame nut was just as much of a pain as the last time 😬.

Nice!! I'm actually planning on getting a engine guard for my 2015 Fatboy. But' it's only for looks because my legs are to short to put my feet up and ride. LoL

Thanks for this video, it was exactly what I was needing to see for my 2018 fxlr. I was getting concerned. I installed the forward controls and was thinking all frame mount holes were used but no. Forward controls used the very top and third from top leaving the exact mounts open to install this engine guard. Those damn Harley designers think of everything......and they want to sell all the accessories they possibly can ;)

Thanks for the video the bike looks awesome, I haven't decided if I want the standard or the mustache engine guards for my 2018 Low Rider
@KSSTUDIOS4 жыл бұрын
I originally got the mustache guard for the built-in foot rests but never really used them because they felt too high for me. I ended up switching to the regular engine guard later on. I would recommend checking your local dealer to see if they have any bikes with them installed so that you can try them out first.

Hi there, how did you hold the damn nut that goes behind the frame to hold the top screw of the guard? Do you need a crowfoot wrench? It seems Harley tapped the bottom holes, but not the top one ? (I say this because the space is too tight to hold the nut in place so you can screw the top screw.) Unless I'm missing something... :)
@KSSTUDIOS3 жыл бұрын
I was able to wedge a small wrench in there to hold the nut in place while turning the bolt from the front. It's not easy. I like the Cobra Freeway Bars much better for ease of install.
@jsprite1233 жыл бұрын
@@KSSTUDIOS I guess I gotta get me a small wrench...Thanks!
@5xironman4 жыл бұрын
I went with these too because I liked the l👀k. Your video helped but one thing I missed was that all the washers aren’t the same. The top one is different than the bottom two. Guess what, he bottom washer fits the top but the top washer doesn’t fit the bottom. Had to undo it. Also, the right bottom bolt just wouldn’t go in for me. I took it off and had to pre-thread the bolt to get it started. There must have been paint in the threads.
@KSSTUDIOS4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, the factory paint job gets in those threads sometimes. I've installed these on a few Softails now and started using a small wire brush to clean those before threading the bolts in there.

Female friend just bought a 2019 FXLR, sent her a link to your clip here, I like those bars. Did you have any luck on the mounts for the saddlebags that I can pass along to her too? Thanks for sharing, that's one of the great things about this community, everyone helping each other.
@KSSTUDIOS4 жыл бұрын
I think the Harley saddlebag mounting bolts are still widely available, I just had trouble getting them from a couple of places I called. I ended up ordering them from a Harley dealer out of state. I installed a luggage rack at first before going with saddlebags. kzbin.info/www/bejne/q6eZqHSodrp1jK8

Maybe I'm dumb but I cannot find a way to hold that nut while I tighten the top bolt. Can't get a hand, socket, or even pliers to hold it. Any advice?
@KSSTUDIOS4 жыл бұрын
I managed to get a small wrench in there to hold the nut while I used the ratchet to tighten the bolt on the front of the guard. It wasn't easy.
@SBha304 жыл бұрын
Man, that top center bolt was a pain for me too. Used a 13 mm (didn’t have a SAE) wrench and got my hand in that tiny area above the oil cooler on the left hand side. Luckily I padded the ground and fender with towels just like the guy in the video and that saved me from damaging my fenders and crash bar.

I've never seen any rear guards from Harley-Davidson for this bike, but there are others like Bung King that offer sliders that attach where the passenger pegs are.

I have floorboards, Will it fit with floorboards? Thought you had FBs as well, but ya have mid controls.
@KSSTUDIOS4 жыл бұрын
I helped someone install one of these on a 2020 Softail Deluxe with floorboards and it fit just fine. It mounted using the screw holes in between the holes that his floorboards use. Double check the install instructions on Harley' s site to make sure it is the same for your bike.

Any issues using the foot pegs your feet stay on and comfortable. I'm thinking about getting them to stretch my legs
@KSSTUDIOS4 жыл бұрын
The foot rests on this bar were OK for me at 6 ft. tall. I would prefer them a little lower personally. I'll probably go with clamp-on pegs. Try them out if you can find a bike at the dealer with these installed.

ey bro nice video! I am looking at this mod too especially I am a new rider. I just couldn't tell if the engine guard is wider than the handle bar/ regular harley engine guard? I have the stock low rider s handle bar. It's because i live in a state wear we can split lanes, it would be much harder to split lanes on a wider bike.
@KSSTUDIOS4 жыл бұрын
I just measured my engine guard at about 32" wide to give you an idea of how far they would stick out. 16 inches from the center bolt.
