If we change the direction of a component, if it lands in a negative quadrant do we also change the sign when calculating?

It depends with your direction. But with this method everything is added. But working with components you can use any suitable way. This one I explained here I avoided by all means having negatives in the calculations

Mr I have noticed that if you put the values of the horizontal components and vertical ones upside down when calculating the angle ..it gives exactly alpha (tan^-¹(HC\VC))
