Always excited for Timberborners! Btw, as you need to build levies with logs and clear away trees for the aquaduct, it would be more efficient to place lumberjack posts to cut down the trees instead of using builders to destroy them. That way you would have more logs and they would also be a lot closer to the build site already as builders can use the logs from lumberjack posts.

As an engineer you need to try the *Bridge Method* of building and mining. Timberborn actively encourages bridge engineering! Beavers can't build more than 1 block above them, but can build infinity DOWN. So if you build a bridge across a space you can have them building stacks over every square on the bridge plus 1 sideways all directions, rapidly speeding up building long walls, or placing dynamite on the same area repeatedly (cover the area you want to mine out in bridges) and many other uses. So if you build a lil tower up then build bridges out in opposite directions and keeping bridging along while filling in everything under the bridges you can build aquaducts hella fast Credit to M0ro for him teaching me this idea on his amazing extra hard mode let's play series Also please use large water tanks not lil ones, so much more efficient!!!

But there are so many positives, you'd be a sucker to not at least try it out xD good luck, timberborner, its such a great game honestly, suits your content perfectly. if you build a single block floodgate at the entrance of your downstream reservoir you can ensure the maximum amount held in that most important area. Also you may want to consider diverting both streams past that main area to the reservoir once you have water pumps, since then you can keep it at maximum water height constantly, pumped up from the reservoir.
@azazeldeath2 жыл бұрын
I love this series. Honestly a mod I dream of, and desire so bad. Well two are; * Unlimited district size, so my beavers can all remain in one monster hive city with no districts. * Actual dams where the water flood gate is at the bottom. * And finally the ability to make true aqueducts that can be built so you can have water flowing beneath in one direction, and below in another.
@ValentineC1372 жыл бұрын
the bottom floodgates and the aqua duct issue is because the game engine isn't made to support open air below water level unlimited district is already a thing you can do, I believe, and making it too big for your pc tanks performance
@azazeldeath2 жыл бұрын
@@ValentineC137 sadly ik, one can dream though regarding the floodgates and aqueducts. Thankfully my pc is pretty tanky, not trying to show off, so not worried about the performance hit. If you don't mind, can you share how to get the unlimited district size? Or where to find the mod if its one.

While I love the idea of your over the top designs the inefficiency is killing me 😂 Also try and get some windmills in they are great for power most of the time, hook them up to high up batteries and they are amazing They need at least 2 bocks between them but proximity doesn’t reduce efficiency so stack them close together if you can
@toughsun27042 жыл бұрын
The batteries in the new updates are really cool and better than sticking a bunch of shaming wheels everywhere which is way worse (I was up to 8 every drought in a recent run lol) I think inefficiency comes from RCE playing in duct-tape-will-fix-it-for-now-engineer(ed)-emergency mode. He paused the game to marvel at the water rising at the end of the drought, but he didn't pause during the Great Thirst Crisis of 2022, for example. It's part of his style and why his videos are so much fun.
@blackoak49782 жыл бұрын
I typically build my wind mill field on a platform over my largest reservoir. Lots of room to expand, out of the way of most builds, and can often be tapped into by multiple colonies

I have a tip that will help. If you put a powered mechanical water pump from your large mega damn to your upper farming area it will keep it wet all the time. And placing it on top of damn blocks any extra water will flow back down and not flood your farm land. I use that trick all the time on hard mode so I don’t have to watch water levels closely. You will only need to let water out if your lower reservoir runs dry.

*HINT...evaporation is calculated only on the top level of a tile. More surface means more evaporation, deep hole but small diameter means less evaporation. If you're spreading all that water across a one block deep area, all along that spiral "helix," then ALL that water is subject to evaporation!

@@Abion47 yeaaah I don't really get why he's got two aqueducts, the one carrying water in can easily be used to bring it out as well, and bc of how it's built you could also use it as a bypass (since it's lower in the middle).

If you blast the base of the aquaduct on the storage bowl side of the river, down to the same depth as the river floor, then you do not need a separate "return" which will save some resources. And if you put the overflow for the storage bowl on your original mega storage idea side then the overflow can fill that.

BUILD PATHS EVERYWHERE! The districts have a build and max distance space as u kinda seen. But if u add more paths everywhere u want to build it will increase thier building distance by about 7 tiles. If there's no path to the area it stops about 7 tiles from the nearest place. You can keep your beavers & carrots watered if instead of dams at the top of your reservoir you just put levies there and leave a column in the middle empty, just make sure to stick a dam further downstream to catch that water instead, stick 1 row of levies underneath those dams and a row of levies along the river edge to keep your carrots watered for longer, basically the higher the levy stack at the rivers edge the better (haven't tried higher than a single row of levies, did with land on a custom map and it worked well, never dried out once)

RCE needs to remember that he only has a few water sources in the map. I don’t think he’ll be able to fill up his new reservoir every wet season because the wet seasons are so short in hard mode. If he wants to fill up that massive reservoir, I think that the only way it’ll be possible is if he dams up the strongest shape river to prevent water from leaking off the side of the map and if he sends it all to the super uper mega giga dam (if he doesn’t I think he’ll have the choice of filing up the new reservoir or the current one in Heavymetalton, but not both).

I feel like there should be some life improvements in upcoming episodes; 1. Replace all the tiny water storage with the biggest ones. This will give more water for smaller space. 2. Replace half the carrots with the other food crops. This will make happier beavers with better work ethics. 3. Remove the very first two dams that was added in and bomb down two extra levels those dams held so the mega dam will hold all that space and more water potential in longer droughts.
