I'm X shell employee. The reason is to minimize the risk. We ensure few steps to maintain safety 1. Engine turned off 2. Bike stand must be mounted 3. Rider alone allowed near bike while fueling 4. We make sure no sudden movement (cell phone comes under this. The main reason is we may not react normally for emergency scenario and it may cause unstable conditions) 5. Gun nozzle should be touched for proper earthing ( all pumps facilitated with high standard earth) 6. Payments will at the end of fueling

naanum yosichen... definitely there will be spark even in AA size 1.5v remote battery if the terminals are shorted, I have seen it... but ESD also produces spark that's true...
