It makes sense though.. England playing football is more about being proud of being English than it is actually about football. Same for all countries i imagine. That’s international football. We've only just started investing in the infrastructure we have to produce coaches in recent years, Germany and Spain especially are miles ahead in that regard. Many young English coaches are stuck in non-league and lower leagues, UK based managers dominate the championship and below. We have our clueless FA and Premier League suits to thank for that.

The thing with English managers is simple. Should England have an English manager? In an ideal world, yes. When we had Bobby Robson we had someone who had won something virtually everywhere he went, he was not just English, but he had won legitimately high end trophies in several countries, he was the best man for the job at the time, so it made sense to go with him. There isn’t one English manager right now that has won anything legitimate in any way recently. Lampard - achieved nothing. Potter - Did great things in Sweden, not the same as anything high end, not good enough. Howe - I’m a Newcastle fan and I love him but he’s still not won anything. Gerrard - winning the league with Rangers in a two horse league is not the same as winning anything high end. So there aren’t any English managers that have achieved anything majorly successful, so why the hell would you pick one if you then want to achieve major success? If Eddie Howe goes on to win several Premier Leagues/FA Cup, etc then go for him, but he hasn’t done it yet and he may never will.

United fan here, I didn't want tuchel. I'm not saying that because he's signed for England. But I've done my homework on him, yes he did really well at Chelsea. But he flopped at bayern and psg, hes a short term manager and often leaves clubs in drama. Plus he has his own PR around him that too loud imo. Plus the fact we don't have money or can't afford to get a new team for a new manager. We have to hope Erik works. As for challenging for league tiles, we ain't competed for over decade. Who do people think we are right now. We ain't 1990-2000s united. On another note, I hope he wins world cup or euros for us. As no way any England manager would have a chance. We don't make good managers anymore, so it's either we try someone from abroad and hopefully reset the clock as its been 60 years. Then hopefully in future couple England managers rise up. As for fergie, I dont agree with it. It dont sit right with me. Jim is supposedly a united fan so why is he okay with it? Yes it's a ruthless decision but just because it's ruthless doesnt mean its right. Fergie is just one of those extremely special cases that you cant apply logic too. No othe club in world has a feegie part of their club right now. Wenger isnt at arsenal. And I think it's classless to do what we've done. Yes hes earned a massive amount of money over years after leaving as a manager. But come on, just continue it till end like Charlton. I can understand why from business point of view, you've just sacked hundreds of people so you can't justify it from business point of view. But just like moving from old Trafford, I dont think it should be done.
