Southgate's performance last night was without question the worst managerial performance I've ever witnessed. There's a number of issues I had but one stood out beyond all others and it's this. Why when the 37 year old Slovakian right back; who was on a yellow card and the game was stretched. did he not bring Gordon on to run at him? Gordon has caused havoc all year long against the premier leagues best right backs and scored against all of the top 6 sides.... His decision to not even give him a minute is bordering on utter negligence. He is a disgraceful football tactician who is an embarrassment to out game. If England do somehow win this Championship it will be despite of Southgate and not because of him. He's a bell end.....

I noted on a number of occasions Mainoo would pass, run quickly into space in the box looking for a return pass, but then the person he’d passed to would stop, touch the ball, look around and then make a slow pass to the left or right or backwards. Mainoo’s football intelligence is different level. Others need to get up to speed.

Palmer gave the ball away over 10 times, he did not have a good game. The solution is not Cole Palmer who has the same exact problem. We literally had 4 players who want to occupy the same central space on at the same time (Kane when he drop deep, Bellingham, Foden, and Palmer), a veritable clown show of management and we still have fans saying Saka is the problem and should be played at LWB. To be fair unlike the Pain Game livestreams where you would have to pay to watch the fights, you can watch the euro matches for free on BBC or ITV so why bother going to watch someone else react to it when you have it for free.

Southgate will never drop Walker, Rice, Trippier, Kane , Saka and he would of picked Maguire would if he was fit and Phillips he could’ve got away with picking him. Rice can’t move the ball quick enough at this level, he needs too many touches and then goes sideways or back and just tries to cover up his inability with running around all over the pitch like a headless chicken. Gives 100% like but never compare him with the likes of Rodri, he’s more of a pound shop Henderson.
@Bdbtg286916 ай бұрын
Who's the alternative? Pretty sure Rodri being Spanish kind of disqualifies him 🤷♂️

We don’t have the solutions in the team to fix the issues. When Southgate said we missed Kalvin Phillips he meant “a kalvin phillips”. I guarantee if you put a fit luke shaw, and a 2020 Phillips and Henderson into this team it starts functioning a hell of a lot better, like the 4-0 Ukraine vintage, didn’t sit back on a 1-0 lead then did we? Funny how people conveniently forget all the results that counter that particular narrative. To win the tournament England will need to grind and rely on moments.

I think Joey's unwavering optimism is clouding his judgement of Southgate. He claims: 1. 'Nobody has ever won the Euros or the WC with perfect form and performances throughout the competition.' True! But has any manager ever won by playing the wrong players for the chosen tactics or the wrong tactics for his chosen players? 2. 'The players are going to click and we are going to blow Switzerland away.' Really? Assuming that Southgate will start the same team again, possibly with the exception of Saka as LB, why will Foden start to perform like a proper left winger and leave Bellingham to do his work as 10? Do we expect Southgate to suddenly realise that his defensive line is too deep and leaving to much space for Rice, Mainoo and Bellingham to cover between them? Will Southgate instruct his CBs, to play out of the back so that Mainoo and Rice can occupy the opposing team closer to their own defensive line? When we go ahead, are we going to play to our strengths and continuously apply pressure to the opposition back line so that we can limit their chances to equalise and instead work against conceding more? Has Southgate teams ever done that? I think the answer to all the above is no. There is a chance that we will fluke it again and scrape through but the only way that we will dominate and comprehensively demolish Switzerland, is if Southgate makes significant adjustments in personnel, or tactics to suit the current starting 11.
@hamonryechinaski1806 ай бұрын
Holland were ahead yet Koeman made an aggressive change. No way Southgate does that. Useless, players have stopped believing in Southgate. He's lucky. That's about it. With Kane, Jude etc we can always get something out of nothing.

If you want width! everyone seems to be forgetting Jared Barron on every media platform He arguably played, player of the match in the warmup game before the tournament set Kane up for an assist in the first game of the tournament but Kane missed, hasn’t been played since. Stays wide, has pace and gets in behind. Has 16goals this year. Don’t get it. Him and Gordon would be sick on both wings
@johndirom89996 ай бұрын
The England team: Pickford; Saka, Gomez, Guehi, Walker; Wharton, Mainoo, Bellingham; Gordon, Watkins, Bowen. You MUST play players in the positions that they play for their teams. Saka is the exception here. Idiot Southgate comes to a tournament with ONLY ONE injured LB. (THAT is enough to tell me he shouldn't be near the management of any team.) Saka is a RW so should have an idea of how a LB operates. He is left footed, so when he goes beyond Gordon, the opposition should expect a good cross. Him and Gordon would balance the side and give England the option of going up the left side or right side. If you're going to play a pivot, PLAY.A.Pivot; Rice isn't it, Wharton is. Mainoo will play the 8 and as you've ONLY got one 10 on the pitch, Bellingham will be it. Watkins WILL press, he WILL get behind the defence, and he won't come deep into the 10 area. Gordon and Bowen should hug the line to give width. Superstars aren't superstars when they aren't playing well: Foden and Kane ARE NOT playing well and should be dropped. None of this will happen; the reason: Southgate; the worst England manager almost EVER, pound-for-pound, with the squad of players he has at his disposal.

He had a few nice touches and played a few nice forward passes = OMG! Palmer is by farrrr our best player this tournament and is a crime that he doesn't start!! The bar is so low right now with England that we''re praising any little moment of positive play.
@Lekepumpyn6 ай бұрын
Saka passes and makes runs in behind but the players keep ignoring those runs and keep making side to side passes. How do you expect to break a team down if all you do is keep playing it safe. Worst part is they’re very weak to the counter attack so it’s not like they’re good defensively as a unit.
@drick24806 ай бұрын
Joey bringing up the example of Man utd to support his argument does not fly because even Ten hag made changes and adjustments after poor performances. Southgate has exhibited zero tactical literacy with no discernable style of play that brings out the best of his players.
