Thank you for your comment! I'm also tired of Friends, haha, and to be honest, I never liked that show to begin with 😅Yes, the stop Ts are glottal Ts in this phrase, and they can be difficult to pronounce!

what is the reduced form of voiced th? and why does it sound like d?
@SanDiegoVoiceandAccent2 жыл бұрын
Hi iiAbdullah635 - Thanks for the question! It's difficult to describe the reduced TH in a comment. If you'd like me to give you a better explanation and show you what it sounds like, it would be best if you joined one of my live English classes at Julie's Conversation Club: courses.sandiegovoiceandaccent.com/courses/julies-conversation-club. I hope to see you at the next live class!

It's unclear what level of English this video is for. She mixes up here phonetics with contextually/emotionally determined emphasis and the latter can be confusing to beg-interm. levels. But all these explanations are essentially useless to the advanced speakers who understand this level of the language. In particular, if people know what terms like "glottal stop" and "unreleased d" mean, then they don't really need this. I am sure friends and family will give this video likes, but it's absolutely idiotic. Most importantly, instead of giving people general principles first, she goes into all these details, many of which are unnecessary. I don't know how people can find any of this useful.
