Wonderful looking tree! How come the leaves look bumpy though?
@mikbonsai6 жыл бұрын
These bumps are leaf Gall, bumps caused on the leaf by insects feeding on it. The insects are long gone by the time these bumps appear. It is just like if we are bitten on our skin a bump appears. The tree leaves will heal in time. Thanks you fro watching so closely and your observation of such detail not many viewers notice it. All the best. IK

Hi Rob, Min always likes to hang around with me and I knew she was sitting under the Arakawa Maple, but it was when I started editing I saw her cleaning her bottom. I thought well that's what cats do and left it in. Adds some un planned element to the video. It is a very old tree and was owned by the founder of the Wirral Bonsai society. Towards his twilight years he was very ill and the wife shoved the trees up agains their walled garden. She sold the trees after he died. On all the trees the growth was all on one side including this one. This tree was wired up very winter for a number of years to reposition the branches and finally it is looking half decent. Wish you feel better.

Looks great, what the history of this one ?
@mikbonsai5 жыл бұрын
This tree has been badly neglected after its owner fell ill and a few years after his death, the wife sold his trees. Please see part one where I started working on the tree and instead of carving it I air layered it as I was very unhappy with the trunk. The start is in Part 1 see it at this link: kzbin.info/www/bejne/j4LdaISBf7SqpJo I hope you enjoy watching the transformation. Regards Iqbal

Great video as always I have an English elm with the Same imperfections on the leaves should I be worried about it I find it irritating that the leaves do this is there any way to get rid of them ?

These bumps are leaf Gall, bumps caused on the leaf by insects feeding on it. The insects are long gone by the time these bumps appear. It is just like if we are bitten on our skin a bump appears. The tree leaves will heal in time. Not much we can do about it as by the time se spot them the incests are long gone. Thanks for watching and your support, Do leave comments on videos you watch as that is how I get to know subscribers. Cheers IK

Actually I have a few questions to ask first one is how much is the cost of your scissors and concave cutter and brand of your concave cutter as well as Scissors
@mikbonsai6 жыл бұрын
Hello Mohd Sabir, the Scissors are Japanese High Carbon Steel and when I bought them they were about GBP £ 10, now the seller has discontinued the ones with the red handles. They have a newer version with green handles and their website address on both sided of the blade for GBP £ 14. Personally I don't like the new ones. The Concave branch cutter is again High Carbon Steel and its Chinese and cost GBP £ 35. Exactly the same cutter of Japanese origin are GBP £ 89. I hope you enjoyed the video. Best wishes IK

Yeah sure enjoyed it So if I calculate in Indian currency it is near about 800 rupees
@BeTheCREATOR6 жыл бұрын
mikbonsai , in India here the online sellers are simply cheating, they charge higher price for substandard material.
@mikbonsai6 жыл бұрын
Mohd Sabir, Yes, my original ones with the red handles you are spot on with the Indian rupees.

@ Be The Creator, I am very sorry to hear that they do it with the tools. He there we have laws which are enforced so with tools we are good, but wee too have a problem with bonsai tree sellers on line and to personal shoppers. Over the last six years I have seen it all, having to sort out problems caused by the sellers lies and cheating that I made three videos to raise awareness and it not just here in the UK , its the same problem in the USA. Any way these three videos will give you an idea of what is going on in our industry. The link to the videos is: kzbin.info/www/bejne/sGipdZltaax9rLs
