I just found your speech, and I would like to say " you are great!!!" I dont know if you already memorized all the script before you gave the speech or they just gave you a short time to prepare and improvise it. you still inspire me anyway. I'm an English learning student, BUT still i have alot more to improve myself to reach the expectation.. so just cheer you up and congratulations!

Great Job and Very good english!!! I am trying to learn Thai and I do that by putting together presentations Just like I see on this website (Isan life). I really like the Thai script...it's beautiful and fun to study. Of course it will be a while before I can actually converse, but I am working on it. Have a good day!

Hi Changshoua, thank you for your comment. A formal speech competition requires a somewhat formal type of speech, so it's not surprising if it doesn't sound quite "natural". But I'm glad you agree she did a good job. She did!

"A memorized speech"...there was no emotion,no connection to the audience...because this kind of speech was scripted unlike in the philippines where students are asked impromtu questions , situations or even events and what can they say about it....a question that you're not prepared with....this will test your ability to share your own thoughts, perspectives and understanding regarding to the given question/situation/event ...watch it and you will see the difference....not just "a speech that you've practiced and prepared for....

Impromptu speaking is totally different... this was not an impromptu speech competition... and this student won the competition, so obviously the judges thought she was very good. So sorry that you have been disappointed.

In my opinions... 1. It may look like the speech was scripted. But I think her was excited, so her accent and her pronunciation was like she read something. Actually, English pronunciation of Thais is similar to their native language: The Thai language. It's the same as the neighboring countries that they pronounce English on their own accents. 2. Thais don't use English as formal language or even in daily life. They have different chances only at the international school that will use English daily. And because of the old course in the past many Thai students in local school was not encouraged to learn English by their school. Although, Thai students are better now. don't judge a book by it's cover. just open your mind :) Keep fighting Thais!

Indian can speak English easily and without preparation, but their accent can be spoken only in India. I am an Indian who lives in Indonesia.
