The algorithm threw this one up, and I glad it did. As a Spurs fan: you’re really good at what you do. This was a great analysis. One thing I’d share in response to your opinion on Ange - you might end up being correct. But a couple of ripostes: 1. Ange has won trophies everywhere else he’s been. Unlike Bielsa. 2. Ange is having to manage a major squad overhaul and integrating lots of young players that have been brought in (rather than ready-made quality), while flying the plane. The youth of the team means it’s likely to take time, but also means the team likely does have the energy to match Ange’s demands. 3. At this point, it’s now the away form holding Spurs back. The team has laid the foundations at home finally. Solving away form often takes a bit longer. Like it did under Arteta, Klopp, and Guardiola. The underlying stats all point to a club that is (slowly) getting better as Ange’s demands transfer into muscle memory, even if the results are up and down. There are no guarantees in football, but the signals look good for Ange/Spurs. Also, for what it’s worth, it’s clear to see Villa are also a really well coached side who experienced a bad day at the office. Plenty more to come from your lot for sure. Very good team with a very good manager, looking to break through that glass ceiling just as we are. Good luck for the rest of the season. And James Maddison is actually a lovely guy, but he does love the #bantz 😂

here's the spurs perspective...1st half, spurs dominated possession but lacked the tempo to break down Villa. Villa wanted to counter as Emery had bought into the spurs naive defence narrative and the counter failed as Villa just didn't have the possession and couldn't handle the press. However in true spurs fashion they gave up a goal whilst seemingly in control. 2nd half....spurs upped the tempo and got the goal...Villa knowing and sensing this constantly went down, time wasted and cried to stop the momentum...in fact they did it for 25mins before their lack of football ability became untenable. What they didn't count on was Spurs picking up where they left off and smashed a Villa side who wasn't brave enough to play their own football into the bin!

Marathon not a sprint. Newcastle, Man Utd, and Spurs, did us over with 100mph football last year. But we ended up 4th, despite losing a quarter of the first team. We were never going to relentlessly maintain top 4 form (2 years of it so far)…just a bump in the road. Will still finish top 4/5.

Thanks for offering some brave words, Pete. Still gutted by the result and it was worrying to see Villa so toothless in the second half. Credit to Spurs, Solanke and Sonny for a strong showing. Still, there's pretty much a whole season ahead to go. Onward and upward!

You know you're struggling when you start mentioning other teams problems. As for Villas current position , we can all spin a positive, but that's 6 points from 15 in the last five league games. Liverpool away next and that's a possible 6 from 18. That's not a good return. Try spinning that.

You touched on it, but another reason the approach to the midweek game was a rare but undeniable blunder from Emery is winning mentality. We've now won only 2 in 6 - even if we claim the game and competition midweek didn't matter, the difference in mentality between the players was evident. Spurs were more tired but they weren't lost about their objectives and they were confident and had momentum.

Evening everyone. Look, I don’t mean to be mr negative but I actually called this result. I’ve not been impressed with us so far this season, we haven’t played many of the top sides yet and our general play doesn’t fill me with confidence. That’s the 5th time in 8 months that we’ve been beaten by 3 or more goals. That’s not acceptable. We offered nothing yesterday, and after they got the 2nd it was a matter of how many.
@CraigWrightStraygoatАй бұрын
I agree with you. We always look like conceding in the league and we don't look cohesive going forward. Yes we score goals, but the pattern of play seems like we are playing off the cuff and hoping something will happen. Ramsey and Rogers are maybe too similar, when Bailey's off it, only Digne looks to put regular balls in the box.

@mikegreen2942Ай бұрын
Thanks Pete, great show as always. Our midfield has been slightly off it IMO in the last couple of games, since Bologna when they were superb. I wonder whether it would be worth switching Bailey to the left where he could put in early crosses/pull backs for Watkins and Rogers.Tielemans, who has been our best player so far this season, just needs to recalibrate his slide rule, so many of his passes have been just off by a few centimetres. A good performance at Liverpool would reset this group.

Interesting video but made just a little too much through tinted glasses. To praise villa and imply unlucky when they came to park the bus is clutching at straws, yeah if you park the bus and every decision and chance goes your way u might nick it 😂. Villa being 1-0 up at half time was a bigger scoreline flattery than an injury ravaged Spurs being 4-1 at full time. Tottenham had gears to go up in, Villa did not.

I really don’t want to bash Pau as he is a class player, but is he a defender? I would like to see Mings & Konsa & Pau playing alongside Kamara just in front of the back 2. Kamara wins the ball back & Pau picks out the passes. Pau & Kamaracould also support Konsa & Mings. Cash & Digne (Maatsen) need to be very mobile of course. But who am I compared to Uni.,.

A terrible error by Torres. So we've had 2 in our back 4 who are prone poor clearing passes in field. Agree with Pete saying cardinal sins in football. Our right hand side is very weak. Not attended to in the summer window. Cash out AGAIN. Please can this be corrected soon. UTV.
@andrewmoseley427Ай бұрын
Will be very interesting to see if we can bounce back against Bruges and Liverpool away. My fear is that our problems are beginning to stack up now such as our defensive weaknesses, a lack of clean sheets in the PL, a lack of goals scored compared to the first 10 games of last season, a weak right side (Cash & Bailey), concerns with the form of some of our subs (Buendia & Philogene), and Watkins seems to appear prone to missing some big chances. Emery definitely made a mistake by leaving some of our best players out of the side or on the bench for the midweek Palace cup game. That was a real opportunity missed and those decisions would have been more forgivable if we had won at Spurs and if we had been more energetic on Sunday. But we didn’t and we weren’t.

EVERY team loses. Bournemouth took points from us arsenal and Man City. There are no easy games in the prem and whilst we are on a general upwards trajectory we, along with most teams hit hurdles, have off days for varying reasons. Plus I still find it hard to believe that some fans seem to forget we are also playing other top teams, well coached with top players who are out to stop us and beat us. Even the Man City’s and Liverpool’s of the league stutter and they have almost 2 first teams. We are a club in transition and every week and month is a step forward. I can see personnel changes and additions come January and again in the summer to address issues we all now exist. Marty cash needs quality competition, we need more quality wide alternatives as Bailey is struggling. Mcginn isn’t a wide player but is the proverbial utility man who just gets on with it. Philogene is a work in progress but beyond that that we have no others. Kamara coming back to full fitness will be a help too in the coming months. Onward and upwards.
