It was nice to see a riding video again! Cricket seems like an awesome boy and I hope he finds a great home soon. You look good in the western saddle too! Just for the record (for everyone else), you can do a posting trot in a western saddle guys. It is actually extremely common unless you are doing western pleasure. I mostly ride english but my trainer does both and posts. I also board at a barn where everyone else rides western, including reiners and they all post the trot.
@laurenrideg46296 жыл бұрын
I honestly, don't think you look bad at all! I see a lot of people that post in a western saddle and it makes everything go smoother. To be honest I post in my western saddle 99.9% of the time. The only time I don't post is when I want a really slow colected trot. It's also really nice to see English riders try western. It makes for a much more balanced rider! Keep doing what you're doing!😉

And a few months ago we found out that Circle Y saddles with a rounded back fit her only problem is can't afford a new one and can't find a used one that fits. Hey Jill! I know your big on positive reinforcement and I just want to first say thank you for introducing me to it! I first heard of it from your channel and then found other people who were doing it as well. I am getting my first horse in a few weeks (I'm so excited!) And intend to only use positive reinforcement with him. It's going to be quite the challenge considering the fact that my trainer uses negative reinforcement and lets just say it's not easy to convince her there are other ways of doing things (basically I'm probably gonna get judged because I'm the only person at my barn who is gonna be using it), but that doesn't matter to me because I want to be the best owner my horse can have, and I want him to enjoy me spending time with him as much as I do! Anyway my horse is only about 5 and he has never been ridden before, he has had ground work and has had a saddle and bridle on but no one has ever mounted him. In a way this is a good thing because I can train him to ride using positive reinforcement without trying to undo negative reinforcement (if that makes sense), but I've never trained a horse before and my trainer said she would help me. But as I said before my trainer uses negative reinforcement and I don't want that for my horse. What I'm trying to ask is, is there a way you can break in a horse using positive reinforcement? And if there is how should I do it? Also to train your horse to ride bitless (I'm thinking about doing this) how would you do that in a safe way when they haven't ever ridden with a bit either? If you have any websites or books you recommend that would be awesome, but I'm new to this so I need help! Thanks

Just wondering....why do you wear your helmet when you're not riding(like getting them from the pasture, grooming or tacking up)? Not trying to hate or anything just genuinely curious, I'm wondering that when I watch your videos😂😂😂
@iriolexisbierle66976 жыл бұрын
For me I always use to wear my helmet because it helped keep me warm and I wouldn't have to try to put it on once I had a horse to hold. That was until a tractor made a loud bang and my horse threw his head to the side with my head between his and the metal stall door. Had I not been wearing a helmet, I definitely would have had a serious injury. Even a horse that gets too excited while playing can be dangerous, so if your helmet is comfortable enough to wear all the time, why not?

Because you could still get hurt. Some one that I ride with one time had these people watch her horses (just like feed them and let them In and out of the field) but they decided to take blue, one of her horses, out for a walk. While she was bending over she slipped and fell on her back and hit her head and Blue reared and crashed down on her foot. She had to get surgery or something to help her walk again. But you never EVER want to take a big risk with such a powerful and big animal. I personally ride blue a lot and I trust her with my life, but that doesn’t mean that she will always behave. Most of the time she has a freak out that is out of her control. Like these birds decided to pop out of no where and scare the living hell out of both of us. She started bucking and idk how I stayed on but I did! So yeah hope this helped!!!
