It's funny that dancing the polonaise is easier than the mix created by the school principal

The "right leg is the one with the big toe on the left" is a reference to the "Buying Doors" skit from a different cabaret.

What is also impressive is that they presented Polish national dances in a comedic way and you can guess what kind of dance it is just by the comic poles. They presented the characteristic features of individual dances with movement. Interestingly, the character who plays the teacher is truly musically talented. I recommend you to see what individual Polish traditional dances look like. This is interesting in my opinion.

Hello, it's very nice to remember these dances. I danced in the Gdańsk song and dance group "GDAŃSK", we were dancing folk dances and I suggest seeing what these dances look like when performed by professional dancers. Dances such as "KUJAWIAK", "MAZUR", "OBEREK" and "KRAKOWIAK". They are very spectacular and technical dances, I highly recommend them.

0:30 Another genius translation. "Kotłownia" means something like "boiler room" "I tam się kotłowało" could be easily translated to "And it was boiling hot here" (you know why), but I think technical room is just genius. Chapeau bas whoever translated this

Polonaise is literally the simplest dance to learn, probably in the world. The main idea is that you walk in a moderate tempo and accentuate with a dip every third tact (that is also clearly audible, but you can as well just count all the way if you need to). As for the figures, they are just all about knowing where to turn when, and it's challenging only for the first 4 couples (2 for most of the dance). The rest just have to follow the respective preceding pair. I've been in the 3rd pair, and I assure you, I'm no dancer. Finally, in most schools teachers don't dance it, unless something has changed recently. But that's what they needed to make it a comedy.

Ech... Mazovia ppl, who settled on contemporary Masuria or Lithuania, were called Masurians in old Polish, and generally Masuria took it's name directly from them. This is another joke and allusion, with Giżycko. Such a funny nod to viewers who know Polish history. (Our grandparents and great grandparents knew such things commonly). Jak myślisz, dlaczego specyficzne zmiany głosek w gwarze mazowieckiej nazywa sxię "mazurzeniem"? Połowy aluzji i dowcipów nie wyłapaliście pewnie, ale i tak można się dobrze bawić.

3:41, 9:52, 15:18, 17:52 There are a series of jokes in this skit with the name Ogiński mentioned. Michał Kleofas Ogiński from Retów, prince (born September 25, 1765 in Guzów, died October 15, 1833 in Florence) He composed piano polonaises, romances, songs, quadrilles, minuets, waltzes and one opera titled "Zélis et Valcour ou Bonaparte au Caire ” (“Zelis and Valcour, or Napoleon in Egypt”) in one act. For many years, at proms, people danced to the rhythm of Ogiński's polonaise - the actual title of the work is "Farewell to the Fatherland" - (currently, it is being investigated who is the actual author of this polonaise). In 1999, Andrzej Wajda's film "Pan Tadeusz" premiered, an adaptation of Mickiewicz's work. Wojciech Kilar composed a Polonaise for the film, which subsequent generations of high school graduates fell in love with. Therefore, it is more often chosen to open a prom

7:20 This is how we actually learn that dance. We count up to three so 1 2 3, where 1 is accentuate. Than 2 2 3 - first 2 is accentuate again. The funny part is that counting 123 223 323 has no sens for a very logical person like mathematician. Besids they're teachers and show to the school director that they can't teach.

About Polonez dance, all pair are going one after another, holding hands. To be honest you need to do what pair before You is doing, so first pair is most important. Sometimes it would be Principal, but in some school it would be just best teenage dancers. Ther is not special moves with hands. Only thing that you need to realy lear is when to do "dyganie"😂 but You can hear it in music

There are severeal levels: 0. music deaf 1. distinguishes music from speech 2. distinguishes rythm but can't sing in tone 3. can sing in tone within the crowd 4. can sing a capella with assist. 5. absolute hearing of tones. (can distinguish and name tones without any external reference). So if anybody ask me what level I am in. I'm on 1. level🤣

@v_doll 5 ай бұрын
The actual moves of polonez are really simple (it's basically just walking, to be fair) it's the formations you have to learn by heart. No one's going to notice if you mess up a step, but everyone's gonna notice if you go in the wrong direction. The fun part is some schools will let same two male or female students be partners, so you can dance with a friend (or a SO) rather than a random student you got assigned to so that everyone would be paired up equally.

Polonez is actually quite easy, the first pair have to know it and the rest just follows (it's never that hard to find two persons who can learn these moves in the whole grade). The only thing you have to remember is to dip on "1" in "1, 2, 3" tempo. A bit offtop: It always confuses me how the dance "mazurek" somehow becomes "mazurka"(?) in English. Like... "oberek" and all others stay as they are, but not mazurek. It just looks like someone rolled a pencil on a "mazurek" inflection table and it landed on genitive/accusative, and they just randomly decided to make it an official English translation. If there is some actual reason behind it, someone please tell me (maybe there really is???). Maybe by today's standards I am a bit of what you'd call a "grammar nazi", but seeing and hearing this stupid "mazurka" is honestly kinda annoying :/

Let me add please some correction 🙂 Mazur is the dance of Mazovia (Mazowsze) and is based on Mazovian folk local dances. It was danced by noble people. It was very popular and danced also as the expression of patriotism at the time of partition (erasing Poland by Germans, Russia and Austria in 1795-1918). Mazuria (Mazury) took its name by settlers who moved from Mazovia (Mazowsze) to Prussia. Prussians (baltic nation) were in the meantime exterminated by Germans in the most cruel way as Germans always did. Descendants of Mazovian people were later cruelly germanized (at the time of partition).

Unfortunately, you do not catch all the humor, obvious to Poles, related to our 5 national dances and characteristic steps and figures, and even with the literature related to it or films - and finally the national anthem of Poland (Dąbrowski's Masurka) when everyone must of course stand still, preferably at attention :) :) The director is winding, winding but finds a solution :)
