Toad in the Hole is also delicious with mashed potatoes and gravy. Or with chips, mushy peas, and gravy. I was surprised that Tikka Masala is now our national dish. Whatever happened to the good old-fashioned roast dinner, or pie and mash? LOL! Pie and mash is my ultimate comfort food. Yummy! And another funny fact: We call our evening meal tea instead of dinner. So, if someone says, "I'm going home for my tea," they're not saying that they're going home to have a drink of tea. They're saying that they're going home to have their dinner or evening meal.

Wow, what English people call their meals is a quagmire! "Look Around You" did a hilarious sketch about it in their Series 2 episode about food. The way I understand it, "dinner" is your biggest meal of the day. So some people have their dinner at lunchtime, and some people have their dinner at suppertime.

Thank you so much Katharine, for reporting and teaching me on the Welsh road signs . I still remember the incomprehensible and funny Welsh language , haha, when I visited Wales - and the image of the Red Dragon (is their province flag ?) , which brings back good old memories. In Holland we have such a province as well , called Friesland , rather bi-lingual ( bilingual), with the ancient ,small scale , but still current and alive Frysian language , which has overlap with / is similar to the Charles Dicken's style old English .❤

Hello, I am from Malaysia. Speaking English with British accent is something beautiful. Our Malaysian English is based to British English standard for all schools and higher education institutions. But, for everyday spoken English, it is mixing little bit with local languages such as Malay, Chinese, Indian and others. Similar to Britain, tea with milk is everyday popular drinks for Malaysian. We called it "Teh Tarik", a creamy tea with a skillfull preparation.

Interestingly, the dish Americans call "toad-in-the-hole" is a thick slice of toast with a hole cut in the middle, put into a frying pan, and an egg cracked into the hole to cook. It's okay, but I prefer our version, with brown gravy & peas.

In Spain, as you have just said, there is a yearly tomato fight day. It takes place in a village called Bunyol or Buñol, Valencia. Its name is "La Tomatina". Stonehenge shares a similarity with Machu Picchu in Cuzco, Peru. Both places were built by gigantic stones in which no one has been able to provide any scientific explanation on how such stones were transported. I assume Stonehenge originated itself in the stone age whereas cavemen were roaming throughout the land, so they never knew what the wheel was. A pretty similar case occurred in Machu Picchu. Although it was built during the flourishing of inca civilization; nobody knows how such stones were carried from place to place. Each stone weighed between 7 and 10 tons; the Incas didn't know nor create the wheel either, so How were they able to move each stone?; I believe this is such a mystery we'll unravel once we overcome our own earthly nature :)
