Hi there friends!
Here is a video for daily life! These idioms will make you sound more friendly, warm and approachable - and of course more native! They are also considered "advanced" English because they demonstrate a more impressive knowledge and command of the language. These lovely idioms are for daily situations but also deeper conversations :-)
As usual I am teaching you English that is IN USE today and used by my friends, family, and people I come across in daily life. The accent is the British accent usually found in the South of England, which is called Modern Received Pronunciation. I hope you enjoy my video!

My classmates at the language school in London were multinational, diverse and lively! then I saw some works of the Impressionists in museums of Paris, and the works of Vermeer in the Mauritshuis in the Netherlands, and I was impressed. Variety is the spice of life!😄

Well, every lesson you create is a work of art! Incredibly useful idioms...Yes, speaking to a native makes me walk on eggshells, because I'm afraid to make a bad impression, to be boring and to use broken english. Just like you, I'm a people person and I love socialising. Beauty is in the eye of a beholder...not in your case, since you are the beauty in person and even a blind man could realise how stunningly beautiful you are, just by listening to your enchanting voice. Anyway, my princess, you are the most wonder moment in the weekend and your lessons are just like jazz music...unforgettable...thanks a lot and have the time of your life on your weekend! 🥰

"I am a native Korean speaker. I once met a Korean man who traveled extensively throughout the Korean Peninsula for his work over a long period of time. As a result of his constant exposure to different regional dialects and accents, his Korean speech developed a unique and somewhat peculiar quality. It was a fascinating blend of pronunciations and dialect words from all corners of the country. This got me thinking about how an Englishman's pronunciation might evolve if he were to embark on a similar journey across England, immersing himself in the diverse linguistic landscapes of the various regions."

Glory be to God.. I feel very much that your lessons are messages to me.. I am a sensitive person and I have been in a bad mood for almost a week as a result of words that were said to me, but I liked your sentence and the first example very much and I was happy with it. How should one be sensitive and ready for criticism? You are my inspiration, my teacher. I pray to God to open your heart to Islam, your mother, George, and everyone you love. I prayed for you in Ramadan. You are a lifeline and happiness for me.❤❤❤

Wow.. Amazing idioms dear.. By the way, second idiom, "variety is the spice of life" fits me like a glove right now as I am enjoying myself away from home and work and staying at my cousin's tea 🍵 estate in the upcountry and getting back this afternoon after staying almost six nights up there.. 😮 It's a long holiday for the last week and a half as we had celebrated our traditional "Sinhalese New year" a few days ago.. I could only watch two idioms as usual (lol) 😂 but will watch the rest when I get back home this afternoon... Was desperate to make a comment and that's why I did this comment despite myself being busy with my holiday plans.. 😊 God bless and do take care of yourself my dear.. 🙏 Hugs.xoxoxo Gams ❤️

I find this very interesting. I also want to say we do use idioms every now and then in official letters but tend to write the simple definition after the idiom in parentheses. Example: Our team needs to be trained in dealing with the locals. The locals have different cultural backgrounds that can cause friction within our team; our team is unaware of the locals’ social obstacles that can arise. Our teams needs to be fully aware of their culture and develop a ‘thick skin’ (an ability to keep from getting upset or offended by the things other people say and do) when criticized by the locals.

Hi Katharine I am a doctor from India planning to migrate to the UK. I frequently watch GB news on KZbin and also Talk Tv . From what I can gather after watching these is that there is a lot of illegal migration which has taken place in Britain in the years gone by leading to increase in crime and general destruction of British culture and customs. I heard the other day there were hoardings celebrating Ramadan but none for Easter. There are frequent protests and marches supporting Palestine and Hamas. My main purpose of planning to move to the UK was to experience a new culture basically British culture and not make money unlike other immigrants. What's your take on all this?

Thanks for the video! There're many videos on KZbin that offer you 100 or 50 "most common" English idioms. I usually don't watch them, because that's too many. I think a lesson with 5-10 idioms is the best format, at least for me.

I guess that has similar meaning with "There is no accounting for tastes", right? Hi Katharine!!! If my mind doesn't fail the idiom "to wear your heart on your sleeve" is an idiom from Shakespeare. I firmly believe it's a good manner of riding the life taking into account that our life is not forever. It is important to be clear about our feelings in relation to other people around us especially in matter of love, not alone in a romantic way but with our parents and friends too. Well, that's what I think. Have a nice weekend!!! Enjoy your life!!!

~~ The Crow and the Fox ~~ High, black Master Crow on a branch was sat Happy while in beak he was holding a cheese; When came Master Fox by the smell enticed Who hailed the corvid in such words like these: “What! Fair Master Crow! Good day! How be ye? My honour I am so blithesome to see ye! My Lord, how gorgeous, how handsome thou appear! And how I should like to hear of thy soft note! For if thy warbling's like thy feather coat, Thou arst the Phoenix of the forests out here!” At this Master Crow could not enough rejoice, Opened a large beak to show his wondrous voice ... Thus letting escape the so convoited prey Which Sir Reynard seized, and quickly ran away, Leaving this short adieu to the flummoxed raven: “Learn, my good fellow, that all good flatterer Lives at the expense of those they slyly please; This lesson I hope was well worth thy cheese!..." The Crow, a lil' too late, gutted and full of shame, Swore none should never trick him that way again. La Fontaine (+fab) 🧀🦊 🌹
