Amazing tutorial. Recently I engraved stainless steel and For cheaper solution maybe not soo quality wise with bigger projects for sure. But spray chalk did the job. It's very cheap and for something like 40 - 70 mm it's great.

NIce video. I was wondering what the workflow would be if you had a powder-coated tumbler but wanted color rather than engraving down to stainless. Say I had a red tumbler and wanted a black logo on it. Would I do a normal engrave down to stainless, spray it with Cermark, and run the engrave again or is there an entirely different process that is more efficient? Thanks.

Seems like that's the best route. However, I think it would be difficult to get the tumbler to line back up.

@@BuildDadBuild Yeah...thinking about it some more it might not be such a good idea to keep the tumbler in place and spray on the Cermark while in the laser...maybe the brush-on would work.

I fell in love with Brilliance, you don't even have to use two coats, and if it looks like you see the stainless below it, it will still work. Dry time is about 5 minutes. Washes off with water.

I am curious if you have any ideas. I used a stainless tumbler from amazon with the same laser and same settings as you with the same spray and mine comes out barely legible. everything else I laser is fine. thanks for the video. very informative.

You need to run a speed and power test on the tumbler to determine settings.

Totally depends on the material of the mug. But high power low speed seems to strip the top layer of ceramic off and reveal the color underneath. Cheers

So I'm kinda new/late to game... Enduramark or cold galvanizing for stainless tumblers? I tried cold galvanizing and some of the mark came off while cleaning with the sponge... (100 power @15 fyi)

I have a question how would I go about wrapping a dragon around a tumbler like starting with the head at the top and ending with tail opposite side on bottom

Measure the circumference of the cup and make your design that size in order to get it to wrap all the away around.

Can anyone give some advice, I'm a newbie. I initially got an ok mark on stainless with cold galvanizing and dry moly. I've been playing with and experimenting with wood and glass with my D1 pro to include the rotary, now it wont mark at all (on metal) I"ve tried varying levels of power and speed... so I have been wanting to get into etching as a side business I love the idea of the d1 do you think it would be able to mark polymer and things such as AR magazines since the end goal is to own a gun shop and customize everything including high carbon steel.

metal is tricky with a diode. Some mark better than others. I would say the D1 would be a good jumping off point, because if that's your end goal eventually you'll want to pick up a fiber laser. But those aren't cheap! Cheers

If you are a cheap SOB like me... you can use corrugated cardboard to make those rings... I hate wasting wood for items I don't use frequently. If I did a bunch of them, I would make a more durable fixture.
