Most Hit and Miss engines that were used around the farm were mounted on a cart with steel or cast iron wheels for moving the engine from one task to another. Let's mount this little 6cc Enjomor to a cart so it looks more like it should. We will fire it back up for the first time since the last video and continue to tweak and adjust the governor speed, ignition, and valve timing in an attempt to also have it run more like its full sized counterparts. Thank you all for watching, sharing and subscribing. You guy's are GREAT!

Maybe ignition a little bit after top dead center and lowering the governor spring could help? What do you think?
@steam212
@steam212 Жыл бұрын
@@MC-MC1MC I might try to shorten the governor spring a bit more again to see if it will run slower and then retard the timing from there. If it runs too slowly it doesn't have enough momentum to carry it through the compression stroke.
@MC-MC1MC
@MC-MC1MC Жыл бұрын
@@steam212 I understand. This engine has a lot of compression. I did it with my two years old m90 and it runs with 28-30 hits per minute, only one hit. Also has very good compression. The spring is very „wobbly“. Have a nice day. Looking forward for your next video. Have a nice day.

I think watching This engine get progressively better is my favorite videos! They are coming out with upgraded version called Retrol HM-01 possibly around September. Upgrades: Slightly larger displacement Hi/low speed lever for better slow run. Much better governor design More vintage look muffler Nicer oilers Possibly better over all fit and finish Better pulley to drive implements. I am hopeful you will do a video of tuning the new model?? I may be interested in purchasing it after you work your magic....if you find you have to many engines pile up on you?😮 Thanks for making these videos on tuning!!

I have been thinking about the new model coming out. I'll most likely order one (I really don't need another engine) but I'm curious to see if they made any of the improvements on the new one that I did to this one

You still need a coil off that spring, to stop it hitting so many times.

Did you make a modification to the pawl that holds the exhaust valve rod? The brass pawl in the steel rod is very high wear (like the steel rod on the brass cam) and the pawl geometry wasn't very good on mine either. I just superglued a steel washer to the end of the pawl so I had a bit of steel to make better contact and fix the geometry and it hooks on the pushrod much better. I wish I had access to a milling machine so I could mill the crank out. The Enjomor is so much smoother with a properly shaped crank counterweight.
@steam212
@steam212 Жыл бұрын
I did not have to modify the governor latch on this one other than true it up a bit with a file. I did add a pair of bearings to the pushrod where it meets the brass cam to reduce the wear factor significantly. I agree that milling the crank and skeletonized the connecting rod to balance the crank made a massive improvement.

Hi Matt. Great progress! I am still struggling with Stirlingkit to get a replacement CDI. They are balking, saying that it is a "consumable". Hmmm. They want me to purchase a different CDI which uses 6 to 12v. Are you still planning a buzz coil video?
@Kevin_Dyke
@Kevin_Dyke Жыл бұрын
You probably could use a car coil you can get them on Amazon for like 15 bucks then just connect a 6 or 12v battery to the coil with some wires and attach it to the engine. Just like the full scale versions.

What fuel and fuel mix do you use Matt?
@steam212
@steam212 10 ай бұрын
I use VP 93 octane 40:1 ethanol free. It really seems to do a great job unless you leave fuel in the tank, the fuel evaporates but the oil stays in the fuel line. So I run them until they are empty now and I've never had an issue since. I have used Coleman fuel mixed 40:1 with Marvel mystery oil before, it does a GREAT job but it gives me a 2 day headache if I run it without the doors open.

@@steam212 So that's just plain premium gasoline (petrol down here)? I have tried to get Marvel mystery oil before and its unobtainable here, as is Coleman fuel. So I've been using Zippo lighter fuel just coloured enough with some quality 2 stroke outboard motor oil.......but the Zippo lighter fuel really starts to add up in $$$.....I'll have to give premium fuel a try. What oil do you use Matt? - Appreciated mate Jim 😀

I came across these at a flea market or a garage sale. I think they were originally off of a toy fire engine but I can't say for sure. If you're looking for a set of wheels to build a cart for your engine, I would suggest looking on the PM research website they offer many different types of flywheel castings in various sizes and materials. If I didn't already have the ones I used that's where I would have went. I hope this helps you. Thanks again for watching and commenting 👍
