Nope, One's definitely see what's wrong. But it's very much true that one's see potential. Being that they are idealists One's are all about that. But they are often plagued by an obsession with what's wrong with everything. In a way I think they enjoy it!

Girl, you NAILED IT. It's funny you said that you identify or think you're this or that depending on what you did..making you think well "Im bad" but that's not true. Im stuck in this cycle right now and have been as years (obsessively) identifying with my old self with blonde hair as my rough, rebellious, bad person SO I dyed my hair brown..but because of that I feel like I lost my self trying to hide? You truly helped me with that one line. because I made bad decisions with blonde hair as I worked on my personal growth process I thought dying my hair would change me entirely but still until I accept what my life was like it wont actually dissolve. Running from my mistakes and past arent going to disappear and I just need to accept and be ok with what was and grow from there,

1w2 - OMG, I LOVE TRAVELING! I love the prep work where I get to "pre-vacation" by researching sites, pre-booking reservations, and considering packing. It is like a puzzle for having fun. I will "schedule days" with loose themes and create fun printable itineraries. It is like having an assistant with the whole family the entire time. Then on the day, we can decide if we want to stick to the plans or opt for an adventure day where we just enjoy where we are. It is like two vacations in one.

At such a young age, your guest was exceptionally eloquent and phenomenally self aware. As you two discussed things, I heard something I hadn’t heard before. I didn’t know we need all three subtype instincts. That all 3 instinctual subtypes can be very beneficial and useful. Who knew 🤷🏽‍♂️? I thought that the repressed instinct was either irrelevant or unnecessary. Exceptional content...Thank you!

I’ve been trying to find out if I’m a 9w1 or a 1w9 recently because I must have a really strong wing so it’s hard to find out my core. I’m leaning more towards my core being a 1 now though, since watching and hearing a 1 speak from experience. I fear failure and making mistakes on an insane level, especially because I know God expects us to improve as people and to be good doers of the word. The most ironic part is, my name is Grace, and God has let’s me live up to my namesake by the fact I often give Grace to others who do me wrong, but I very rarely give myself the same courtesy. It’s something I’ve been trying to get over pretty much my entire life, because I’ve always known God was Gracious and forgiving to me, but I keep telling myself to not even get in a position of making those mistakes that require forgiveness, and then when I do something wrong, I feel awful. I’m always second guessing and checking my intentions and actions to make sure they are pure, and am constantly asking guidance and wisdom from Yahweh in order to avoid making bad decisions. It was really helpful to see a 1, although still very different from me, have so many similarities. Not only do I feel like I’m not alone, but I was thankful to hear another 1 repeat something I’ve always told myself: To give ourselves more Grace. Sometimes you can have other people who don’t struggle with the same fear tell you that, or you tell yourself that, but I felt it was really most helpful for me to hear it come from the perspective of another who understands the fear I have. This is my very long and complicated way of saying: I thank you both for this video!

I'm a one wing two SP as well and I can relate so much with her.. so many people admire me for my "successes" in life yet I still criticize myself a lot. Insult me and it won't show that I'm affected but internally I think of what you said to me deeply. Because I always want to be good and perfect and i can be so hypocritical of myself.

Another 1w2 - It drives me crazy when my two closest friends start a project with me and 5 minutes in are talking about all the flaws we can't overcome. My response is always ... we are still building. We have to fully build to see where we need to perfect. Also, you have to believe it can be done to do it ... I get called Hermione a lot.

First of all, I love this video so much! I’m a type 1 and really enjoyed listening to this interview. I watched the end of this video for the first time last night and my mind is blown. I didn’t know my subtype before seeing this but hearing them all explained for a type 1, I resonate so much with the SX subtype! The SO as well, but I’m thinking the SX might be a bit more developed. Thank you SO much for this, I just love your teaching on the enneagram and this episode was truly so eye-opening for me!

I'm a 5w4 sx sp, but my 1 is quite strong. In my younger years I hated being wrong. I felt invalidated when I didn't get a perfect score on a test, or if I didn't have the right answer to a question. I think part of that was the 5 core fear, but it wasn't until my Jr. year of High School that I identified the irrationality of that fear, and actively crushed it. Since then I feel like I learn a lot faster from failure than I so from success. From failure you can learn what not to do, which often times shortens the list of optimal choices a LOT faster. I do make it a point to not repeat my mistakes, but as an imperfect being in an imperfect world I find it absurd to expect perfection. Perfection is the asymptote of life, you can approach it but you're never gonna get there... at least in this world.
@enneagramandcoaching
@enneagramandcoaching 4 жыл бұрын
Your right. Some of that would be the core fear. Fives hate looking foolish or not having the right answer. But you have amazing insight and wisdom. Thanks for sharing!

Is it possible for your subtypes to change when you are in stress vs growth. I really feel I am a 1 wing 9 sx. I feel in growth I am more social and in stress more self preserving.
@enneagramandcoaching
@enneagramandcoaching 4 жыл бұрын
Subtypes are each persons “instincts” that refer to our biological survival drives. So yes they can change. Usually a person has one or two instincts that are very developed (one of those are usually the dominant subtype) and then one subtype that’s underdeveloped. You can use them at any given time. Hope this helps!

Why do you think that?
@louisbilman595
@louisbilman595 3 жыл бұрын
@@norakadas9007 Upon watching more of the video the idea became borne in my mind that you might be a nine. Certainly not a one though. One's are kind of severe. Since they're introverts and also very concerned with truth and truthfulness, as is often the case with such kinds of people, they can be slightly awkward or just off putting. You seem very agreeable and sweet. This is a nine-ish quality.

@@louisbilman595 Thank you for the input, but I do still believe I'm a 1w2. A lot of 1's in film (ex. Daenerys Targaryen (sx 1w2) and Hermione Granger (so 1w2) are very intense, but Self-Preservation 1's like myself tend to turn their anger into a warmth and are primarily concerned with perfecting their own actions (think Nancy Wheeler from Stranger Things). What is your Enneagram type?

@@louisbilman595 The Enneagram revolves primarily around desire, so it makes sense that I may not strike you as a 1, because we all look very different. And there is only so much one can grasp from a KZbin comment. 4s are so interesting and unique! Do you know your wing and sub-type or MBTI?
