I'm definitely a 3w2 (The achiever and the caretaker). I've always been extremely driven towards things Im passionate about, albeit relationships, career, etc which leads to me over extending and getting hurt when something I put effort into doesn't work out. But when you broke down 7, who is always reaching for the next thing in fear of mediocrity, I relate heavily to that as well. I'll try really hard at something, and if I fails I try to find a "rebound" to make myself feel adequate again.

I took the enneagram test on the Enneagram Institute website years ago. 4 was most points followed by only one point different 5 and then third was 1. Tri-type right there? Very interesting. I do resonate with 4w5 and buzz with 5w4. Love your videos!!

U explained it well, I feel like I understood it from just watching this video (but will look more into it of course). It's so cool that u are type 9 and your husband type 8, same here! Makes it easy to relate. What often happens with us is: me type 9 being obviously upset (doing the upset face without meaning to). Him asking: "what's wrong?". Me: "I don't know what's wrong" (still trying to process and filtering all those feelings in my belly). Him type 8: starting to get angry and repeating "come on what's wrong". Me: getting blocked. Hehe this is our famous cycle, but getting much better at it with the years!🙂 He now finally trusts and understands that I truly not know myself why I am upset. He probably used to think I was acting stubborn and refused to tell him. Me being upset is actually me being angry, it just doesn't look like the immediate intense (explosive) anger of his type 8.

This is so good. And so true for a 9! Love that your husband understands you now and gives you the space and time you need to sort through what you might be upset about.

Ooooooh THAT is why I am tired all the time!! I had a very bad day today and was dragged to go shopping despite not wanting to do it and repressing my anger about it as usual. As soon as I came home (my parents wondering why I look like a zombie) I went to bed and slept for 2 hours 🤣🤣 Since I struggle with having no energy for a long time now I might look into that issue more. Thanks!!

I've always been confused on the 7 being in the head triad--if they're going after experiences to avoid emotions, where does the head part come in?
@maddiemae73 Жыл бұрын
I’m no expert whatsoever, but this is what I gathered from the video: Gut - anger Externally expressed: 8 Internally expressed: 1 Repressed: 9 Heart - shame Externally avoided through qualitative action: 2 Internalized: 4 Repressed/avoided through quantitative action: 3 Head - fear Safety found externally - 6 Safety found internally - 5 Repressed - 7 So from what I’ve gathered, each part of the triad has an internal, external, or repressed expression

I think I've completed my self-analysis, starting with the "stupid" MBTI test about a year and a half ago, ending as; TiNe, 5w4 (548), So/Sp. Tritype something like 5w6, 4w5, 8w9, like 548w649. ;) - I made myself this kind of record, and I think it describes it quite well. "The Scholar" and "The Seeker".

Hi there! As a type 8, I am well versed in my own anger. However, your talk of the triads have helped me potentially type my partner. I had been toying with the ideas of 5 or 6, but maybe he's actually a 9. He doesn't care enough to figure it out, but it's fun to try to guess!

This is so awesome to help me understand the tools. I am confused about my Enneagram result in a way that I have 100% one, 92% of other two types and 84% of one type and 75% of another two different numbers. Given I have a total of 6 types that's rated 75%+, besides knowing I am 100% one, how many other types should I consider to understand and include to get an inclusive understanding of my whole personality? Thanks if you can help to give your opinion.

Awesome video Hillary. I got a question related to type 5s. As a 5 myself is it normal to sometimes just suddenly not feel interested in information or learning? Or just not feeling like learning or researching
@enneagramandcoaching4 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Absolutely. The learning and researching can be because a 5 feels like they need more info to make a decision or so they won’t feel caught off guard. It’s healthy for a 5 to rest and not feel as if they need to gather more and more info all the time. Does this answer your question? Thanks for asking such a great one!

Another great video Hillary! With each Triad is there a number that experiences their center of intelligence more than others? For instance, as a 3 do I have the capacity to experience my feelings more since I'm flanked by 2 and 4? Thanks for taking the time to go over the Triads!
@enneagramandcoaching4 жыл бұрын
Absolutely! The 3 being in the middle has both wings in the heart triad and so it’s lots of emotions. There emotions feel big. I think this can a reason why they put on masks. Sometimes it’s too much.
@dominiquecowens28264 жыл бұрын
@@enneagramandcoaching That makes so much sense. I can totally identify with what you said. At times, I may want to cry but because that emotion feels so messy I'll just repress what I'm feeling. So I end up crying on the inside while looking unscathed on the outside. It makes me feel fake lbvs. Or if I'm super excited about something I tend to not show all of my excitement because I don't want to appear like I've lost my composure. I end up telling myself, "Calm down. It's not that serious." I know I have emotions, I can name the emotion I'm feeling and even verbally express all of what I'm feeling it just feels uncomfortable to tap into those emotions ALL the time. 🤷🏾
@vintageryn72173 жыл бұрын
So quick question. Do you make decisions with that “gut feeling” for most things? I’m an 8, and I don’t really make most decisions with solely my gut, and mostly use my knowledge of things, people and life to make my decisions. I’ll *consider* that “gut feeling” that I get, but ultimately use my logic, knowledge, and experiences to make the decision. Any ideas about what’s going on there? 😅

I’m a 683, but I can’t figure out my wing. My primary’s 6. I’m more independent, extroverted, energetic, inquisitive, curious, adventurous, and assertive to say a few traits I’ve noticed but isn’t that both w5 and w7? How do you know if you’re truly double-wing? Can I use **only** my tritype to type myself rather than my wings since I identify with that more?

Hi Hillary, I've watched countless videos and read in depth on the Enneagram Institute website, and still can't work out if I'm a 4 or 7. I thought these head/gut/heart and stances videos may help but my results vary for different scenarios. Which books do you recommend i read/what do you recommend i do from here? Thanks - great videos!

Hi Victoria! Surprisingly it this happens with the 4 and 7. Ian Morgan Cron (author of road back to you) had this same thing. He thought he was a 7 for a long time but then came to the realization that he was a 4. I do have a type 4 subtypes video that might help you. Here are some books I recommend. ✨Self to Lose - Self to Find: by Marilyn Vancil ⠀ ✨The Path Between Us: An Enneagram Journey to Healthy Relationships by Suzanne Stabile ⠀ ✨The Road Back to You: An Enneagram Journey to Self-Discovery by Ian Morgan Cron ⠀ ✨Essential Enneagram: The Definitive Personality Test and Self-Discovery Guide by David Daniels ⠀ ✨The Enneagram Field Guide by Carolyn S. Bartlett ⠀ ✨The Wisdom of the Enneagram: The Complete Guide to Psychological and Spiritual Growth for the Nine Personality Types by Don Richard Riso. Hope this helps!

This video is very helpful, but I have a question and it is about if we have to put the numbers in a certain order, I know that my enneagram number will be my first but what about the other two? Do I just put them on the order that you show them? Basically Gut, Heart, and Head? Which if I follow that order considering my enneagram is 8 would it be 837? Or the order doesn't matter while my enneagram number is the first?

How serendipitous! I was just about to research whether it is ok for "wing tips to touch in the tritype"? Someone raised the issue with me and though I didn't see why not, it did seem exactly where some contraindication convention or rule could occur. So for instance can your gut be 1w2 and your heart a 2w1? Or Your head be a 7w8 and your gut be a 8w7? Russian Coffee Roulette Challenge: have your offspring make or procure it for you xD

I have a question for u as a type 9. Do u ever feel like people don't have the right to throw their anger on u? I have this issue as a type 9. I feel like, wow but who gave u permission to push this upon me while I find it extremely unpleasant and do not want to deal with it. I don't even understand the whole concept. When someone is sad for example, the other person has the choice to listen to it or not, to deal with it or not. It looks like there is more of an option of not wanting to be part of it and let the person deal alone with their sadness. But with anger it's like: ok ready or not, here I come with all my anger and I'm gonna throw it on u whether u deserve/ like it or not and make u feel so bad because of it. As a type 9 I don't understand that... I didn't give permission to disturb my peace. I wish I could just say: sorry this anger is something u'll have to go through without me. Is that weird of me or do u (or any 9 reading this) relate to what I wrote?
@enneagramandcoaching4 жыл бұрын
I do relate to this. When my husband appears angry it’s frustrating because my peace is now disturbed.
@gabrielaalves31604 жыл бұрын
Is it normal for a 4 not to be that emotional turbulent and not to feel emotions and such a deep level as it’s usually described? I had came into conclusion about being a 4, but in the part of the triads of the heart feeling first and the head rationalizing things in their head first I identify more with the head triad (I’m sorry for being here again with my indecisive self lmao 😅) Great video as always btw :))
