In one of Araki's special interviews for JoJonium (Vol 9), he pretty much straight-up confirms that Hermit Purple, specifically, is a visualisation of Joseph's ability with the Ripple; and mentions that "If Jotaro's group time-travelled to the world of Part 2, they would probably be able to see Hermit Purple wrapped around Joseph, just like in Part 3". Interestingly, he also describes Hermit Purple as "a support ability that uses thought photography and thought hearing". That second point in particular, that Joseph's stand uses "thought hearing" (combined with the implication that young Joseph may have possessed Hermit Purple already, but wasn't aware of it, and therefore wasn't able to consciously manipulate it), pretty intensely recontextualises Joseph's "Your next line will be" gimmick.

@Killua Zoldyck although let's be real. What good would Hamon be in the sense that they aren't fighting any undead beings in part 3 (with the exception of Justice being able to create zombies but they're constructed from the stand's fog and not actually alive since they're already withered and dead) onwards. Hamon isn't useless in its entirety but just like stands there are some much too situational for certain battles, yet it keeps everything fresh and innovative.

Stands are one of the best battle system ever made. It's just so wild hahaha. Jotaro is amazing. From a story perspective, I love how it all came back to the eternal war between Dio and Jonathan

Part 2 made me love the Franchise I loved Part 3 but It needed to be shorter very long but it was a good ride. Very Repetitive but season two probably the best of the two seasons. Season 1 has its good moments in part 3 though
