I just saw the extended toss toss scene and wow I finally understand what John meant when he said that during the auditions Ariana was always the most interesting person in the room. The way she plays with Glinda is something like when you have a favorite character and you daydream of talking to them and YOU make up their lines and yours. I can tell by her characterization how much she adores Glinda as a kid and as she grew up.

0:23 “overcoming her own shadow” … I’ve seen soooo many people saying they thought she was a horrible decision but she surprised them and they thought she was perfect for the role. She’s such a huge star and had to become someone else entirely, someone completely separate from her existing fan base and what made her famous. And she did it. She is not Ariana performing as Glinda. She is Glinda. That… incredible talent. That is something that other actors spend their ENTIRE CAREERS AND LIVES trying to do. Separate themselves from a particular role, genre, or expectation. And she did it here.

I thought she was going to keep her natural brown hair. But it’s back to wigs again I guess. But her skin is so pale now because she stopped tanning. They say tanning aged you but I think it made her look better. Now she looks super old.

Me neither. I don't hate her or anything. There are actually a few songs of hers I actually like, but I wouldn't call myself a "fan". I wasn't too thrilled at 1st to hear she was playing Glinda. I was like "eh"🫤. I haven't even seen the movie yet, but have been following it..if they makes sense n I realized that she's perfect for it! She actually sounds very similar to Kristin Chenowith who I saw on Broadway way back when n has always been my fave Glinda lol. Hearing that she actually auditioned n wanted to "earn" it (I assumed she was just asked to play the the role) n hearing how much the character meant to her was really nice. I really can't think of anyone else who would've been a better fit for a modern movie version.

I watched Wicked a couple days ago , took me that long because the trailers were good but I was doubtful over Ariana as Galinda , I had this image of her as a pop star , even if her roots are indeed in acting and broadway,. Wicked was amazing , every performance felt authentic , I think ariana is rediscovering herself as an actress for sure and she will get better & better with time. This movie has become one of my favourites , it really looks like they truly put a lot of into this movie , it feels right , it feels authentic and pays homage in the best ways. Cannot wait for part 2.

Well ladies, I wasn't so hyped for this movie. Then I rewatched Wizard of Oz (love it) a week prior to release and seeing how sold out/packed my theaters were getting for this event. I am super proud to report that it's my 2nd favorite movie of 2024! I cried twice (ball room dance scene and ending) as I saw Wicked 2 times xD I was in love with this movie! I hope this gets some Oscar wins! I want to be alive to the end of 2025 to see part 2 happening :D Congratulations to the cast and crew of Wicked! Coming from an aspiring filmmaker!
