My wife passed away 12 years ago she did all the cooking... My kids gave me the instant pot for Christmas last year... I did not really use it because I would go out to dinner by myself most of the time but now watching your videos I've started using it and I love it because of you.... Just wanted to say thank you

I’m very sorry about the loss of your wife!! 💕❤️🙏 I think it’s amazing that you are cooking with your instant pot!! I know that must make your kids happy!! I haven’t opened mine yet! It’s been in the box for a long time!! My gramma got burned badly by a pressure cooker in the old days (50’s) so when she used one in the 70’s when I was little..... we weren’t even allowed in the house!! .....every year she would make Concord grape juice! Oh how I miss it! 😢💜...... so I have horrible anxiety over pressure cookers (so silly, I know) anyways.... I’m busting it out of the box this week!! I’m gunna make some yummy stuff and overcome this silly fear!! I really hope that you have a blessed thanksgiving. I’d cook for you and have you at our table if I were able!! Love, from Oregon 💕❤️🙏~Miss Trina~

Trina, if you have the Instant Pot brand pressure cooker, you don’t need to worry. They have built in safeguards into the IP to prevent injuries. My IP won’t let me open the pot until the pressure has fully released. Yes, I remember when the pressure cooker full of pinto beans “exploded” in my mom’s kitchen when I was a child. I got a good deal on a NIB IP bc the purchaser and her mother were scared to use it.
@trina72744 жыл бұрын
@@brendasivado7099 that’s terrible about the pinto beans!! I’m glad you all were ok!! Yes, my auntie (age 77) is very afraid of me using it, which I’m sure made my fear worse! I’m feeling a lot better tho, the more videos I watch, I’m not nearly as worried!! My gramma was my most favorite person on the world! So as a child, it was terrifying hearing about her burn..... made worse by her showing me her scar!! When the injury happened, she was just 20 yrs old, newly married and pregnant with my mother (1937). Thank heavens she didn’t loose the baby, or I wouldn’t be here!! We (my cousins and I) couldn’t even come in the house to go potty when she was using her pressure cooker, when I was a little girl (in the mid 70’s)......I think my gramma was VERY brave to use a pressure cooker again, after such a bad injury!! She was the best 💕❤️ But very kind people like you have made me feel a lot better about it, not worried at all now! I’m excited to get cooking with it! Today my auntie and I are doing our last run to the store for awhile..... pretty sure we are going to lock down soon, so I’ll have time to do lots of cooking in my instant pot!! Thanks for your kind reply!! 💕❤️🙏 have a blessed day!! 💕❤️🙏

#sisterhood My husbandand I have been married for 22 years. Its just us. We go to the casino and eat at the buffet every year. We look for someone who is alone and ask to sit with them. This person becomes our family. We meet a new person, talk with them share lives and stories. One year dinner turned into 2 1/2 hours. One less person alone on Thanksgiving. This year with Covid- I think its just ordering out... I hope everyone has a lovely Thanksgiving. #sisterhood

Our favorite Thanksgiving tradition is to head to our cabin for the long weekend (and hope that we get snow). My husband and I have a turkey cookoff contest and our 3 kids choose the best, most tender turkey. After our Thanksgiving feast, we have a whole lot of turkey left over so my husband makes turkey soup that we are able to enjoy for the following week.

Homemade pies and bread, my favorite are French Apple with whip cream and vanilla ice cream. Growing up I was the youngest of five girls and my oldest sister along with my mother baked for days. There was one year that they baked so much, that we had to store them in garbage bags and put all of them out on the porch for the night. When we woke up the squirrels had themselves a feast and crumbs were spread out through our whole back yard. Surprisingly they kept their spirit and the Holidays went on as usual.

The idea is to stomp on and break someone else's balloon while protecting your own balloon from attack. Young and old love this game! @@yegaming6168 So easy to do. Peel and boil yams to fork tender. Cool and slice (can be done a couple days early and kept in the fridge.) Then on Thanksgiving about an hour before we are going to eat. He melts butter and brown sugar in the electric skillet until well melted together, than starts frying the yams until browned, warmed throughout and sticky with the caramel type mixture. He keeps adding butter and brown sugar until all have been fried. He keeps the cooked ones in a covered casserole dish until they are done, then pours the leftover sauce on the top and we all fight over them. Any leftovers are just warmed up in the microwave.

Thanksgiving Turkey In A Brown Paper Shopping Bag Preparation time: 10 minute(s) Approximate cooking time: 3 hour(s) Number of servings: 12 Ingredients: 1 turkey (10 to 20 lbs), brought to room temperature Salt and pepper 1 onion, peeled and cut into large pieces 1 celery stick, chopped 1 carrot, chopped 1 lemon, quartered 6 tbsp butter, softened 1 cup chicken broth Brown paper shopping bag (you might need 2 bags) Directions How To Make The Thanksgiving Turkey In A Brown Bag: The first thing you need to do is to make sure the turkey fully fits in a bag. This step is best done while the turkey is still packaged, so you don’t have to deal with the mess of moving the raw turkey in and out of the bag :) The turkey needs to go in the bag and the bag will have to be closed and stapled shut. So put the packaged turkey in and see if there is enough paper left to close and seal the bag. If the bag is not long enough, you’ll need to make it longer by attach the second bag to it. My turkey was 13 lbs, and I needed the second bag. First, cut off the handles from both bags. To attach the second bag, cut the top half off the second bag, then attach that piece (the part without the bottom) to the first bag with a stapler or simply saw it on with a needle and a thread. Basically, you need to make the brown paper bag long enough so the end can be closed once the turkey is in. For the turkey, I recommend buying it fresh (not frozen) the day before making it and storing it in the refrigerator. Fresh turkey is more expensive then frozen, but you don’t have to deal with defrosting it and it also tastes better. If you are buying frozen, make sure the turkey is fully defrosted. To bring the turkey to room temperature, take it out of the refrigerator 2 hours before cooking it. It’s important to bring the turkey to room temperature so the cooking time is not affected (cold turkey will cook longer). Preheat the oven to 375F. Sprinkle the turkey liberally with salt and pepper on the outside and inside, and rub the salt and pepper on it. Don’t forget to take out the giblets, sometimes they are packed inside the turkey in the plastic bags :) Put the onion, celery, carrot and lemon inside the turkey, and put the giblets and neck there too. Rub 4 tbsp of butter all over the turkey. Butter the inside of the brown paper bag with the remaining 2 tbsp of butter. Put the turkey inside the brown paper bag. Put the brown paper bag with the turkey in a roasting pan. Pour the chicken broth inside the turkey cavity. Fold the paper bag closed, and staple it with a stapler so it stays closed. Put the turkey in the oven. Estimate the cooking time - it’s 2.5 hours for the first 10 lbs, plus 12 minutes for each additional pound (for example, the cooking time for 12 lb turkey is 2.5 hours + 12 minutes + 12 minutes = 2 hours 54 minutes). Set the timer for the cooking time and forget about the turkey until the timer beeps! When the timer beeps, take out the turkey and leave it in a bag for 15 minutes. Then cut the bag open and take out the super delicious, perfectly brown and moist turkey! Enjoy your Thanksgiving feast!

Yikes. NO to the brown grocery paper bag. According to the FDA, the ink, glue, and recycled materials in brown paper bags may emit toxic fumes when the bag is heated.

#sisterhood: This is how my mom did it & it always came out "perfect". When she was a new bride she had no clue how to cook a turkey. She asked the butcher & he told her to cook it in a brown paper bag. I still cook it this way. It's crisp & moist & delicious. She's 83 yrs old now. Tried & true tradition❗🦃

My dears, there is a mistake 😕 in your official rules. You have the contest ending before it starts.

Can you fix the turkey any way you want as far as seasoning goes? We normally inject it and put seasoning on the outside.

#sisterhood I LOVE to have all four of my children and their families over. To hear all the talking all over each other, makes my heart happy. My dad passed away 8 years ago, so I like having my mom over with us, so she is apart of all of this as well

Growing up I always loved the holidays because my family would always go to my grandmothers where she would load up the table with all of the traditional fixings. Now it's just my son and myself left and we spend the holidays cooking our meal together. Thank you for this video, I have learned so much.

For the stacking of the pans and the foil on top, did you put the lid on both of the pans? I have the eco-Bonna pens. It also has a sling.

Question: Have you cooked turkey legs or wings in your Instapot? I love smoked turkey parts but they take forever in the oven or on top of the stove.

#sisterhood. My favorite tradition for Thanksgiving is when as a family we go around the table and say what we are thankful for. As I have gotten older I have realized that Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday, Thanksgiving to me is all about food and family. This year will sadly be different due to Covid. We will not be getting together with the entire family as my parents are elderly and I do not want to risk their health. But despite that we will be doing a zoom so that we can still say our traditional thank you's. Thank you for the opportunity of this contest, I cant express how great the need is in our country right now for a helping hand and thank you for your videos, I have learned so much about using my instant pot from all of you!

No current traditions, but when I was a kid, the cooking would start at least the week before with my Mom making appetizer Greek cheese and spinach and cheese filled filo - spanikopeta and tiropeta. I loved these and would watch her every year.

#sisterhood Our thanksgiving traditions involve all the kids bringing a side dish or dessert and going around the table telling everyone what we’re thankful for after the dinner. This is usually the time my brother and sister in law announce that they’re expecting, which has already happened three times. It’s become quite the special time.

#sisterhood. For the past 5 1/2 years we were missionaries in China, we did not have a oven to cook a turkey so we would order from a restaurant. Turkeys are around $70. But now that we are back in the States we spend time and enjoy being with family and play games. We are truly blessed and thankful!

#sisterhood We split thanksgiving between my family and my husbands family - they do lunch and we do dinner. My family doesn’t really have a tradition but my husbands family always goes around the table and everyone says what they are thankful for this year before we say prayer and eat! I’ve always loved that tradition!

My favorite tradition memory was getting together as a huge huge family with two of of the never ending tables in my aunt's dining room , listening to my grandpa say grace and being able to spend the whole day together eating food watching hallmark and football , the newest being together with the immediate family and enjoy what we have to be thankful for . Thank you lovely ladies for this opportunity 🙂#SisterHood

I’m excited to use my instant pot, it intimated me at first. We used to get together for thanksgiving on my side but after my parents died that quit, my husband is a pastor so we make time to get together with his side. We have the usual turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, sweet potato casserole, peanut butter pie etc.

Our tradition for the holidays before my mother passed, was green bean casserole and deviled egss. It was a tradition because my mom always caught me eating them before dinner was served. If the fridge was opened up, I'd hear my first and middle name. 🤣I have been wanting to make everything again for the holidays, but haven't had the energy to make it all by myself. I've only used your recipes, bc I'm new to the IP... my husband had loved every dish, but finds that I'm always at the store. Gotta make it perfect!

#sisterhood We always stand in a circle with hands joined and my sweet mother in law says the prayer telling God what we are thankful for. Of course she never makes it through without crying and of course we ALL cry and hug each other.
