When I saw "no exceptions" screenshot on reddit, I did the math with estimated percentages of men meeting her criteria (only 14.5% of American men are 6 feet or taller, only 40% are childless, etc) and worked it out that most of her "no exceptions" limit her dating pool to less than 1,000 men in the entire US population. Add in "must live within 15 minutes of me" and that shit rounds to zero lmao.

I knew a guy who frequently complained about not being able to find a girlfriend. In the course of a conversation about this on Facebook he decided to share his "requirements" for a girlfriend. Turns out he couldn't find a girlfriend because what he wanted to do was date a female version of himself. She had to have all the same interests and tastes but ALSO had to hate and be annoyed by the same things. It really smacked of wanting to control the person he was with. Our friendship didn't last much longer after that.

When I invite somebody out and I plan on paying I always say "my treat" before they even answer so they can make an informed decision and they don't have to awkwardly ask who's paying since I asked them out. If I don't have the money to pay for them but I want to go do something with them I just tell them "Hey I want to hang out but I'm broke do you have enough to go halves?" It shouldn't be that hard. Communication goes a long way

I had 2 "no exceptions" on my list. No smokers, which like you I had people argue with me about. I just answered with "why would you want to date someone that hated kissing you?" and the idiots still argued. No sugar, brushing your teeth wont help, your whole body is drenched in smoke and non-smokers CAN smell/taste it on you. Plus, I happen to be allergic to most of the major brands. Oddly, my "must love animals" didn't get a single bit of resistance. People who were not a fan of pets just silently moved on with their lives and didn't feel the need to get butthurt over it. People with pet allergies or whatever didn't feel the need to argue and tell me to get rid of my dog *shrug*

One thing I’ve found I really love in the pandemic era is having people get me delivery as a gift. It’s so nice when a friend, especially one living hundred of miles away, let’s you know they’re getting your dinner tonight and sure enough a surprise meal arrives an hour later. Regardless of who asks who out, I think people should always go Dutch on a first date. You're just getting to know each other, there may never be a second date, and no one is left with any expectations because they "paid for dinner". A first date should be friendly and no-strings-attached.

I (20s, F) haven't dated much. But I asked a girl out for coffee, and I offered to pay, and she was hesitant at first. I think it was polite hesitation, or to see if my offer was sincere. Anyway, I paid for her coffee, and it was a nice gesture, and inexpensive. I was appreciative that she didn't automatically assume I would pay, though since I asked her out, I myself assumed I would pay.

I think a lot depends on how the invitation for the date was worded. Taking someone out for a dinner should involve paying. Meeting someone and going out for a coffee or whatever should be split money. Best is probably to be upfront about it and not leave it till a bill's on the table so that there was no misunderstandings

An energetic field that surrounds us mostly invisible to the naked eye that emanates from our soul/essence. If we have survived significant amounts of trauma and pain during our life (esp from childhood) we tend to carry that vulnerability within ourselves. Certain toxic people, like narcissists and other predators, are drawn to that because they know (or feel rather), instinctively that this person is vulnerable and thus attempt to take advantage.

When I was 12 I began working nights and week ends and taking home money and food so I didn't grow up with the belief that men provided. When I met my first partner he had a small salary and was paying child support and I worked a lot. My second partner gave up his job when he met me, he didn't receive unemployement so I worked more. He had a couple of affairs that I tried to ignore until I couldn't. My third partner again had a small salary and by then my job became a lot more important and well paid so I paid for everything, it seemed normal. It wasn't until my partner decided he wanted more and younger that I decided to stop with men. On the 5th of this month it will be 15 years since that break up and they have been so liberating, I can't believe I didn't do this sooner! i DO have a dog and THAT is real unconditional love.

Some of my friends have the same standards and will refuse to date anyone military/police or force background as they are statistically more prone to abuse their spouse (I know there are exceptions, don't kill me, I have several military men in my family, and they are all super nice, funny and big teddy bears, those are just stats). As some of my friends come from abusive households, they want to give themselves the best chance and break the circle of abuse. They will therefore not date anyone with a military background. It sounds weird, but there is a context to such a demand.

Lots of those professions have irregular work hours. If that's a deal-breaker, I can understand it. It only get messy if it doesn't apply to other professions with similar work requirements. Plus, the ex-military thing is weird. One of my uncles by marriage (and ex-uncle by divorce) went into the military because he wanted to be a pilot and couldn't afford flight school. I know other people who went into the military in order to afford college or get specific training, and now work normal jobs.

I laugh at the "No under 6 foot" guys. There's a lot a guy can change about himself, his height is one of the only things he can't and doesn't affect who you are as a person. I know a guy that is 5'8, a veterinary cardiac consultant, powerlifter with international records in a lower weight category so has visible muscles, no debt, a Jag, and is a genuinely lovely guy and these girls would dismiss him for his height? I gather they bring as much to the table??? Doubt it. Actually, most guys I know are under 6 foot. Some are close to it but rarely are they over, only one or two of the guys. Could you imagine if these bigger girls got told "Any girl over 80kg isn't a real woman", they would see that as unacceptable and bullying yet mock men for their height?
