Working at Gamestop I know for a fact they have cameras facing the counter and they are active at all time because they want to make sure we are safe and that we are IDing every customer. Yes, they do check. Luckily in my state we can kick out problematic customers no questions asked. We’d rather not because of vandalism but yes, we are incredibly lucky. Entitled parents frustrate me the most at Gamestop. I go out of my way to help customers who are short on money because of them being polite or not being able to get their kids that are behaving properly something they would like. We can price match other stores and I abuse the hell out of it to help nice customers. Entitled customers are bad enough, entitled parents can be worse because you want to not set the same example their parent is setting for them.

As somebody who has worked at GameStop previously, I can believe the whole story and 100% agree with the op's decision to file charges against the store manager. I worked for that company for 2.5 years and I personally went through 7 store managers in that time. Some were great but the demands of the company, the hours, the pay, and the customers were too much for them and they found better employment elsewhere. Some however were in that category where you question how the f*** did they make it to manager! Seriously, I had one store manager that refused to stay for the allotted hours cuz I quote "If I'm gone too long my dog will destroy my apartment because he has separation anxiety." And all I could think of is 'have you ever heard of training?' 'have you ever heard of kenneling?' 'have you ever heard of just don't have a dog?' He had me opening alone on the day a new pokemon game released and I told him that I needed help cuz opening on a new game release, especially pokemon, gets ugly. As expected he did not show up and 20 minutes before opening there was already a line forming outside and over 20 online orders for this very game. I just called the district manager and they rushed over to help me once they were done chewing out this new store manager. He did not last a week.

You're right! This could have happened anywhere he works and getting fired is appropriate. Hopefully he will use this as a valuable life lesson. All of her oversized sweaters suddenly didn't fit her. The third story really got to me. A lot of people don’t realise that obesity can kill you. I think the husband did the right thing in telling her what he was feeling and saying he was thinking about leaving her. Before anyone jumps down my throat not to long ago I was considered morbidly obese and my bmi was around 40. And even though I knew I needed to get healthy it wasn’t until my doctor say me down and said I was going to have diabetes by the time I was 30 would get heart disease, my joints and back would degrade to the point I would be in constant pain and I would end up taking 15 years off my life if I did nothing to change that I finally started to really work towards getting healthy. Now a lot of obese people aren’t obese by choice, either they have a medical condition that makes it impossible to lose weight or suffer from depression and/or anxiety and use food as comfort . I was both. But having someone to be honest enough to scare you can be the most important thing in the world. But also having people in your life that will support you while you try to change is just as important so I commend the husband in beings both of those things for his wife.
@kano8 Жыл бұрын
My step mother who was morbidly obese died a few years ago from a heart attack, she was only 42. Her ashes weighed 9lbs, not counting the urn. Many people don't understand the issues and risk that are involved with becoming morbidly obsessed. Your heart is covered in fat, that can never be gotten rid of, it puts a lot of extra stress and weight on it making it work 3 times as hard as the average heart. And its not just the heart that takes that loud but everything else including skin. Many places won't accept donated skin from someone who was 400lbs or bigger, due to all the scaring, the fatty tissue, and its pretty much "diseased" as some fields would call it. Its just not a pretty life. Glad it worked out for you.

While women tend to look past appearances, men between the ages of 18-50 all find women between the ages of 20-25 attractive, while women find men who are closer in age to be more attractive. This study suggests men care more about appearance then women. So telling a women you find her ugly, hurts. It means you’re not attracted to the person, what if someone told you they love you, but they don’t find you physically attractive? That would still hurt.

Ok if someone makes false allegations against you, and the truth comes out and the police ask if you want to press charges, say ''yes.'' Not only is this woman a bad influence on her kids, but she could pull this stunt on someone and next time she could actually get away with it. At least if someone is charged for making a false allegation against an innocent person and it gets put on a record, it can at least discredit their testimony and statements next time. In a court of law, all suspects are innocent until proven guilty. In a court of law, the defendant doesn't have to prove their innocence, it up to the prosecution to prove beyond a reason of a doubt that the defendant is guilty. All the defense has to do it not prove the innocence of the defendant, but present a reason to doubt. So in this case, if Karen accuses someone else of a crime they didn't commit and it goes to court, the defense can point out to the jury that Karen previously accused someone else of a crime that committed a crime that was completely false and completely discredit her testimony. The point I am trying to say, if some falsely accuses you of a crime you didn't commit, throw the book at them. That you can safe someone else of the same fate.

If you know someone you love probably won't live to see a very important thing that a healthy person their age should be able to live long enough to see, always lead with that. I told my mom I was worried that if she didn't try to quit smoking, she'd never live to see my grandchildren. She started smoking at the age of 13, and she I'd 39. I'm only 15, and she already has a lot of health issues. She hasn't quit yet but it's been crazy lately and I dont wanna stress her out more. But she is gonna try as soon as things are less stressful. And I'll even remind her. I want her to live to see her grandbabies. I want them to remember their nana. My nana (my mom's mom) died about a year before I was born so I never even got to meet her, let alone remember what she was like. Nana was only in her 40's. She shouldn't have died so young but she was so unhealthy and made some awful decisions, and it killed her. My Papa Rodney, (moms dad) died a few years ago because he was morbidly obese and had a heart attack. So, like I said, remind people that you want them to live long enough for very important things in your life. It can motivate them. Also, HELP THEM.

story 1: yes. it's very common for people to take the karen side. men evil. women good. and they say we discriminate against women. figures. by the way, as a rule of thumb. if the police asks you if you want to press charges. you say "YES, thank you". that woman, and that manager, had to be taken care of. even if you are fine now, it's a chance to prevent them from harming other innocent people like you. I would also get the id of the cop that cuffed me without proof. wouldn't press charges before asking a lawyer but that action was abusive and prejudiced. I don't want cops on my city to act like that. story 2: if all you could hear is "I know she's uggly" then you seriously missed the point. as he clearly said you make him happy. he wants a wife that makes him happy. he got that. his friends may have gorgeous wives (great for pictures) but neither seems to be happy about them. let me tell you one last thing. you can be attractive no matter how you look. I can be attracted to your sense of humor, to your loyalty, to your intelligence, to any other positive trait you may have. beauty isn't always about looks. I have seen girls that could be a playmate but I found them extremely uggly and girls that look like a deformed human parody but are extremely beautiful. story 3: as much as your wife has gained, my ex-wife weighted more when I meet her. I did never found her BMI but, at barely 5 foot 6 inches she was already over 300lbs. we broke due to family issues (calling her sister a karen would be ofensive towards the other karen) last time I saw her online profile, she was alive and looked healthier. at least her face. there wasn't a pic of her entire body. I also want to point that it's true that heart diseases are closely linked to obesity but that kind of ultimatum can be troublesome because you have children. think about what can happen if she gets custody of the children. from my point of view, the best would be to involve somebody that can certify that she can't have the custody since she isn't able to take proper care of her own health. you may not be able to get her to take care of her health but you can make moves to ensure your children don't follow her path. I'm happy to hear that things worked in the end but... for others that may find themselves in a similar scenario... ultimatums are a last resource and can backfire if you are unlucky. better to have a backup just in case. and, above all, if your loved one manages to enter the good path and loses weight, don't forget to show how proud you are of that. believe it or not, that's the best help one can provide. to value the efforts others make. story 4: just tell her "no other woman can give me what I want. I want you. I would love to have children, but I choose you over everything else. remember. for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, until parted by death. it doesn't matter if you can't have children. you are still the woman I love"

IDK, I have seen mostly middle aged to young adults play games all the time (platformers, puzzles, chess, cards, checkers, yahtzee, and best of all, gambling), and they fall into these bad habits and don't learn from them until they are older. Hence the reason why so many old people avoid these gigantic video game companies.
@carterjames88292 жыл бұрын
Another thing I should mention is that some giant video game companies (primarily Nintendo) are not perfect with marketing, selling, and distribution for their games. There are times where they exclude the United States and only release something in Japan and vice versa. There have also been times where Nintendo fell onto a massive streak of disastrous and average games-Specificly Mario Party and Donkey Kong Country. This is because at the time they had no idea what they were doing and had too much competition to deal with. So the money and value of their games might also not be worth it.

None of this is to blame OP just sharing my opinion. As for not pressing charges, it makes sense. As a woman, and mother, the karen would get a slap on the wrist for her actions. As for the cops? Well cops are cops and they would of “investigated themselves” and found nothing wrong. OP is better off saving their time and just complaining about the manager.

You should have sued the police officer as well for handcuffing without a proof.

If I was was that guy in story 1 I would have gotten everyone involved except the friend fired, arrested, or bankrupt plus when the cop uncuffed me I would probably start yelling in anger and I would probably go to court

I'm not sure why but hearing the first story about the video games at the part where OP gets put in handcuffs flared up my anxiety for no reason.

I feel for the second story but I'm annoyed that she went to strangers and went behind the husbands back instead of communicating first.

I think that someone may not be super attractive, but lots of times, once you get to know them, they do become beautiful. I have had that happen. Many times it’s the total package, what’s on the inside and out. Many times men don’t think that way, seems in this story, this husband did find his wife attractive no matter what she looked like.

Sometimes it's honestly better to help understand your own feelings, to put it into perspective, & to help calm down. If she went to her husband asap (as she stated she was crying badly) the communication would not have been as effective and could have caused so many more issues. Having an outside perspective can help sometimes. It's not like she went to his best friend or his mom.

In the first story the OP should have PRESSED charges against the mother. Given the video evidence I don't think that she would have gotten off w6judt a "slap on the wrist."

The second story op need to finally accept that she’s ugly. Being ugly isn’t everything. She literally have such a nice husband. He telling all those thing to lift your self esteem. She need to be able to live with herself first. Maybe some therapy might help. I don’t blame her husband one bit. Personally I know I am not a 10 but I am content with myself. Well I do want eyes surgery since I was a kid tho but I don’t mind if I can’t have one. If she hates how she looks that much why not just have a surgery. Ik it’s not the best solution but if her looks effect how she think and her life that much then just fix your face cuz it seems like she won’t be able to get over how her looks mentally soon.

Do people forget that stores these days have cameras? Secondly why didn't the manager listen to both sides of the story?! Thirdly why didn't the police listen to both sides of the story?!

Love the way no one is talking about the police officers in story 1 like they show up listen and immediately handcuff him properly wouldn’t have done anything if the op didn’t mention the cameras. I would sending complaints about them and giving sass the second I’m uncuffed

Story 1: I'd have pressed charges AND immediately returned everything. Story 2: Looks aren't everything. Personality is more important in the long run. Even if she is ugly, sounds like she's still the better person than her husband's friends' partners.

Honestly I wouldn't have let the cops put me in cuffs. I'd have just said "Cameras, check them before you decide what to do and possibly get sued for wrongful arrest," at least that way they'd have a fair warning before not doing their jobs...

1st story, not in part .... you SHOULD press charge and stop thinking about "but the child will not go anywhere without the mother" bs .... if the mother is a grade S A-hole like this and has criminal charge already. HELL! That last is enough for cuffs. Also i would pick the times for free and ask every detail of info and the footage for talk with their superiors in case the store deny it. 2nd story: I think its not about what he said, because it was a rage fit against the b-hole of his friends, but what she considerate herself. This comes from someone with low self steem and lot of issues. He deems herself low, probably because of bulling and parents been also a b-hole or at least relatives, plus a lot of mental issues who can go through. The guy really pull this like a champ and knows how to make her feels special, because he find in her what probably not other girl gives him before. She should be more "selfish with herself" and accept she wins the guy who loves her for how she is and not for how she looks like. I'm glad both get fine from this as well and hope OP get work on her self-steem issues and herself too. To take this as motivation as well. 3rd story: JUST a little. But i get where he is comming from too. Its not about been "mildly fat" or had some tummy here and there. BUT to get the right cohelesterol level in blood who guaranteed to not die of heart attack... and more if there is a heart condition running through your family. There is not need from intense training but a small daily routine for put that level into the right place. OP loves his wife and he wants her to pull through as well. A little extreme but also need to shook her a little see she has to put some will into this. Also to the comments who said he is a jerk. STOP THE BODY POSITIVITY BS. If you want to die from cholesterol then do it alone ... if you wanna live like that then fine, but is your choice. Here OP was more concern his wife didn't kick the bucket and not been able to see their kids grow up. 4th story: honestly, this went better than expect and kudos for OP to actually fight for her instead and show he appreciate her more than her condition or had childs. And honestly i agree how the bias is when the man is the one getting the condition this time. Some woman should learn from this situation as well and stop been this kind of entitled selfish B***.
