In 2021 housecrowd was put into administration owing mum & dad investors 52.7 million pounds. @@masteroogway6660 I mean its essentially how underwriting a mortgage works... so why wouldn't just give the mortgage companies money, then they give you a premium... I mean the return is less buts its very nearly risk free... where as here, you are essentially being asked to be a one of the mortgage underwriters... cut out the middle man who does all the due diligence, take way more risk.. and only make a couple percent more than you would normally. He cant get a loan so he asks for room full of old white guys for one... despicable.

Exactly, if you are an investor why would you want to invest in someone that isn't smart enough to consider all of their options before making a decision. It's pure ego on the dragons part. Personally I think they were just looking for an excuse to not invest though as they wouldn't likely invest £1M in any individual investment, most likely they don't actually have £1M in liquid capital whilst they are multi-millionaires most of their money will be tied up in investments

It is simple really. This kind of business relies on the money from the average person to buy and rent properties. The profit comes in as long as their properties are profitable any pay. Here is the catch. If you are capable enough to buy and rent properties for profit, it is safer and more profitable for you to do that FOR YOURSELF, not other people. So why does this business would offer service like that and only get small fees in profit instead of getting full profits from properties? Because he knows that he is not capable enough to actually manage his properties risk free and he might go bust again like he did in the past. No one in the right mind who wants to make money on the property market will do it for other people instead of themselves, unless they know that they will probably go bust, which is why they start using others people money. And it turned out exactly like that. This whole thing went bust and investors lost shitton of money.

I'm genuinely shocked that they sniped in so hard on him saying the Dragons were an "option." When you're looking for investment, and they should absolutely know this as investors, you don't just up and put all your eggs in one basket, you ask around everywhere. Tonnes of people who've visited the den (and even gotten investments out of it) have come in with multiple other investors backing them!!

This company allegedly raised close to that 100 million pounds that Peter was theoretically talking about. It eventually "went into administration" which is British speak for the company's insolvent. It can't pay its debts and so each shareholder of this company is fighting to protect the company from creditors who gave money and are trying to sue and also fighting for their position as investors of the company.
