I shared this with my daughter who is currently struggling trying to find herself after a lifetime of medical suffering...

Medical suffering has so many layers to it. Being grateful for how far you've come yet missing your own abled self, knowing your health consumes the majority of your life but also knowing it doesn't define your whole life, etc. Similarly to your daughter, I've been struggling the last few months as I've been trying to figure out who I am outside my chronic illness. I feel for her immensely. I hope my poem was able to make her feel a little comforted & reminded her she's never alone. Thank you so much for listening & send her my best
