A little update to the environmental test I am doing on several tools, along with a new tool added to the board.

The CABLE tie seem to holding up EXTREMELY well !!!!

It's only a couple of weeks old, but it is also the UV resistant type.

@@t5jerry Not sure if cable ties are important enough to require german engineering. Or maybe they can improve a lot, dunno.

We should do a test here in Canada... Salt, constant rain or snow and almost always 100% humidity causes everything to rust here

I think I may have missed the previous videos on the external board, as I am interested what the material that support board is made of. If it’s aluminium, is there any consideration for how there is galvanic reaction occurring on the Wera hex key due to proximity to the aluminium? This would obviously occur in actual conditions, but would be interesting to explain further why stainless steel such an advantage in external works, such as the SS screwdrivers & sockets. Just food for thought. Love your reviews & look forward to the next video.

The Hazet socket could rejoin a set and pass for new...that is quality Stainless Steel! I'm also surprised with how well the Wera and Felo handles have held up to the elements. The Felo handle doesn't look to be picking up very much dust/debris. Perhaps, the exposure to moisture and wet/dry cycles with the weather has dispelled some of the static electricity. Anytime I use mine the handle seems to pull in more dust/debris. I might try wiping it down with water every weekend to see if it gets to a point that it won't attract as much. I think the Wera Hex key should clean up pretty decent fwiw.

Yes, It affects his whole life to strap in place some tools using cable ties and leave it untouched for years.

An interesting thing: the Wera screwdriver (from the linked site) are "Made in Czech Republic". Not in Germany. BUT we remember that humble Czech Republik was making better tanks than Germany in 1939...

Hi Matt. I've noticed in the wera especially the bits that come with the ratchet screwdrivers are prone to rusting. Even when wrapped up in the tool case. I managed to lightly brush it off and coated them with wurth ultra 2040. Bit disappointing for a premium price brand..

Can you show us the inside of the sockets because they usually don't chrome the insides of the sockets, so that's where it would rust first.

Yeah I will eventually when I take them off. The Hazet socket actually isn't chromed at all, it is entirely stainless steel, so I wouldn't expect much to happen on the inside.

Thats not a control. A control would be the same exact screwdrivers but in a controllable environment. That was a completely different screw driver then the rest. Not very much of a control. Also you turn on a lathe. Milling is done on a mill not a lathe. 😉

It`s not the UV that ruins the Wera handles, for me it was the daily sweat from my hands that made the softer material turn to mush and smell like vomit

Can I ask, why in the world do we need this kind of test? Who in their right mind, who spends good money and respects their tools leaves them outside like this? That's why man invented tool boxes and God made mature men to take care of their tools. Sorry, not your best work.

It's just for fun. It started out to see which stainless screwdriver would last the longest. Keeps the tool companies honest.

While I assume your questions here are largely rhetorical I think you are missing an obvious answer. Curiosity, and if you're not curious due to any of the things to follow then you of course have no obligation to watch this type of video. Many of us who watch this channel spend a little extra on the tools we use for our jobs, hobbies, household repairs etc in the hopes of getting long lasting products that live up to manufactures claims. German Tool Reviews doesn't have to do this kind of test its true. But rust happens. Even the nicest toolboxes cared for by the most respectful and mature of men can get wet on the job. They can be lost when put in storage or moved to a different home and not be cared for in the mean time. I would think a mature and respectful person would be glad that someone else put the time and money to satisfy collective curiosity.

Nonsense, should he have done the hex key environmental test before I bought the same key set, I would not have bought it. These tests are good and useful, at least for us doing real jobs not relying on gods tool boxes.

Short answer: Never had the "enviroment" ruin any of my tools in 59 yrs because I always took care them. That simple, no mystery.
