Envoy XUV Roof , Tailgate And Lock Issues!!

RICHARD MARES, Great Video (my first lifetime post) 2yrs ago I lucked out and picked up my XUV Garage kept by a senior citizen with only 63,000 miles, 5.3 V8 and every option they had!!! Of Course I have Tail Gate (called end gate?) I have been studying this for quite awhile! Going slow and cautious. My problem lower-drivers latch I believe. Gate will swing down but drivers side does not lock and gate is held with only one hinge (right side- passenger). Several times the gate would not lock when using it in the SWING function! So putting both problems together It MUST Be the lower Drivers latch/wiring and or both Drivers latches. Thanks to your Video I will now take out both latches still being connected to the wiring harness. This will allow electrical plug cleaning and inspection along with lock inspection. My trim panel did not look as bad as yours but THANKS MUCH for the tip. Zip codes 85901 and 85044.

I raise my coffee cup to you sir.... our 2004 tailgate glass decided to come down at an angle a few days ago, Adjusted and now it will not go up or down and is open 4". Not good in Central Georgia Weather (1.4" rain yesterday). Doing my research here and on another site, and ran across your video. Thank you, appreciate the insight. We've had ours for a while, love many things about it, driven it from VA to TX to CA and especially love camping in it. But like you said, that 'cascade issue'. One challenge and suddenly the back half is useless.

I had to unscrew the windows in order to pull it up so i could get to the button to manually open the door😢 then I slid the windows up manually and put a clamp on to hold it in up position, was ugly but worked.

I remember reading or seeing a video saying the number of motors it takes to orchestrate all this is a scary amount of potential problems..I love these but I'm too scared to buy one!!

My roof is stuck open. And it doesn't say anything on the dash like open roof or closed roof. It was working fine yesterday. How can I shut the roof

Omg, I have issues with my xuv tailgate too. The touchpad for the swing gate doesn't work and the window is askew where someone opened the window when it was frozen with ice and IDK, broke something or somehow got it out of alignment....midgate window doesn't come up at all. The motor and regulator move, but no the glass. I transport working dogs and I'm afraid one day everything will fail

Put a skinny screwdriver in the right side of the door & tail light ,there is a release for the door down in a hole that you have to push on to get it to release.

Pull the cover panell off and see of the wire around the pulley is not bound up or frayed. Then id start checking fuses.

Do you know if the push buttons used to open the rear tailgate are the same or each one is different? When I push the one to make the door lay down it releases at the bottom left as well and the door almost fell off.

They are the same button, if the glass is rolled up, the door will open like a door. If the glass is down, it opens like a tailgate.

I’m considering getting this in the future as my tow rig. Aside from the issues mentioned in the video, would you consider the XUV to be a reliable and versatile truck/SUV?

Yes, this one is 15yrs old and aside from the defects from the factory, it's a great truck. One other thing I'd have done immediately after I purchased one is have the transmission serviced and make sure they change out the shift solenoids, both. They are only about $35 each.

Crawl to the back, remove rear panel and down in the lower right hand side close to lock, the is a grey tab push it down and push open door at same time and it will release

In between the tail light in the tailgate there is a little hole with a kind of like a button that you have to push down that will let your tailgate down with the window closed even

you said nothing work my was working just fine but the tail gate glass stayed down and the roof half way open unfortunately just the middle glass work but no activity on tail gate or roof please help

I'd check the trackway that the roof closes on and see if there is any trash or debris in the way causing the roof to not close properly. If that doesn't work I'd start looking at fuses and fuse relays. Hope this helps.

Probably need new tailgate regulator with motor you can't buy them without because you can't buy just the motor so your roof problem is another thing you might need a new motor for it

Hi, I need help please. my 04 jenvoy xuv with V8, full loaded, now tailgate is not opening. I bouth it in canada, all was working, after shipping my car to germany, two months later I got it and roof, tailgate and tailgate window is not working/moving. Now I can not open tailgate to fix it.

If you can't get the tailgate to open, you're going to have to put the seats down and crawl into the rear to access the tailgate panel. If I were you, I'd get that panel off and see if all the connections are good. Make sure nothing is hindering the tailgate and finally I'd pull the connectors to each handle and the main connection to the window. Blow the connectors out with air and reconnect them. Make sure you unplug your battery before doing any of this. This may reset the system and hopefully help your situation.

Check both upper and lower latches to see if they are in the open or closed position. If the latch is locked, it won't be able to go around the bar that it needs to lock closed.

It could be a ton of things, honestly. Fuses, bad motors, stuck latches. If the window wont roll down, I can guarantee its because your motor has bad cables and they are all bound up. Its a common issue and it seems to me whennthe midgate goes out, the rear gates and roof get weird.
