Loreena's voice reaches into the soul and many of her songs never fail to make me cry. Ethereal, mystical, lyrical and timeless! The Lady of Shalott has inspired beautiful paintings too.

oh my god...I must listened at the song a few minutes ago... I wanted to hear it again... then I read the text... thought 'wow...' then listened to it again and started to cry when Loreena McKennitt started to sing... first the music.. the this voice.. just amazing... her voice can touch every heart... when I thought 'ok stop crying' (while only the music played) I tried to calm down...and cried again as she started to sing again... it's touching....

A dream of a perfect world where everyone was nice, and had manners, eagerly willing to pay the ultimate price, for love, when all was simple, and truth was all was spoken, before Innocence was broken.

Friend, I'll tell you what I intended to tell to the fellow right above you: You need to spend time to see detais ... and on the details, your trip goes to Loreena's soul. This is a master piece of art, and as such, must be watched several times and longer ... we, people as myself, would never be able to to such a ... perfection.

Uau. Sad, but fantastic, as all the comments I've read. Fantastic, incredible, it took me to Loreena's soul, as I said to two guys on the road.

When the wise wizard Myrdinn after countless centuries finally will be released from his prison illusion, created by the Lady Viviane, and sails forth to holy Albion, the Age of Magic will start again and Man will learn how to listen (and talk) to the trees, birds, plants, horses, stones. In the moonlight harmony will resonate in all living things.

She's under a curse. She sits in her room weaving with her back to the window, and is only able to view the outside world through a mirror. When she sees/hears Lancelot, she turns around, and the curse hits her, so she gets in a boat to make her final journey and she dies before she reaches Camelot. I think it's probably a metaphor for watching the world instead of experiencing it, but an English major would probably tell you 50 different things.

it's a bit faster tempo than the studio recording (about 3 minutes shorter), so yes, I agree. :-) It's nice that she picked this longer version for a live performance; normally the song is shortened significantly, coming in at about 5 minutes. I'm fortunate enough to have been to about 12 of Loreena's live performances and only once did I see her do the full, 11-minute version, in 1992, about a year after the album came out.
