I've been an IBS sufferer since the age of two years old (I'm now 68), but had no idea what exacerbated it until just one year ago. Went to the keto way of living, but things actually got much worse, and I was nearly a prisoner in my own home, unable to leave because of needing to be near a bathroom all the time. I listened to you, and to one video Dr. Berg did at about the same time (about six weeks ago, but I also had COVID right at Thanksgiving, so am not sure of when I saw/heard them), about changing to a completely carnivore diet for 30 to 90 days to see if that might help the issues. It's made all the difference in the world for me; while I love most vegetables, especially the cruciferous ones, there's just no way my body can process them without hideously painful, terribly debilitating effects. I really do miss the allium vegetables, too, but not being in pain all the time, and being able to go outside my home for several hours at a time is so freeing, if carnivore is the way I have to eat for the rest of my life, then so be it, I'll do it.

I just turned 58 in December. And just now I was diagnosed with diverticulitis. Due to the pain in my left side lower abdomen. Had few test done. So the finally diagnosed was diverticulitis. I was doing Ketovore since May 2023. Lost 30lbs and feeling great. Then. In November had my blood drawn. Shows very high cholesterol levels. And my doctor prescribed rosuvastatin and ezetimibe. Took it for a week, did not like the way I feel. So I decided to stop taking them. Plus. Dementia and Alz are in my family genes. So after my appointment with my November meeting with doctor. Just made me more depressed and adding more fiber and veggies to my diet to avoid high cholesterol. Then December came I ate crap for the whole month of December. Now. Actually yesterday had an emergency issue with my lower left side pain. Turns out to be diverticulitis. As for the food choices to heal. It far from keto or ketovore diet. They tell me to eat mashed potatoes, soft foods, banana. Applesauce, rice and stay away from fatty meat and only eat lean meat. Have to be soft. I am so unhappy and so frustrated with what to do. Now I am having fear of consuming foods. Wondering if anyone else has this problem and what to do about it. Please help!!!

That’s almost exactly my scenario. I’m in bed suffering with a bout of diverticulitis right now. I’m going carnivore when I feel better. At the moment I’ve been fasting for 46 hours. Just drinking water. My first flare up I got whilst having covid 4 years ago. (Although I didn’t know I had diverticulitis. I just told my husband if I feel like this tomorrow, take me to the hospital). It went away on its own. My second flare up, well it occurs to me that eating all the vegetables from my very productive allotment might have had something to do with it. It took me to A&E where I was diagnosed by ultrasound. I spent 4 days on a drip. Lots of antibiotics. Lost a stone. Drs told me NO FIBRE. Especially nothing cruciferous. Then they started me on toast and apple purée! Told me to eat a “white” diet. Mashed potatoes, rice, plain pasta, more puréed fruit. I went with it. But I was terrified really and confused because I knew deep down that those foods weren’t good for me. Healed nicely. Or so I thought. This third flare up came while I had covid. Again! I don’t suffer from constipation, I eat a nice Mediterranean diet. I don’t drink to excess. I have one black coffee a day and I drink about 1.5 to 2 litres of water a day. I’m really fed up. Mind you, as my husband is a vegetarian I rarely eat meat any more. He thrives, while I don’t. So, I’ve decided, it’s carnivore for me from now on. I can’t go through this again!

I, too, am getting over a flare. Officially diagnosed about 1.5 weeks ago. I don't know what to do either. I've been eating "light and white" and taking augmentin. They first tried me on flagyl and bactrim. I had a horrible time with them. Terrible terrible meds. I don't ever want this again. I think I have had these flares before but never realized what they were. Today I have only drank "Pure protein" drinks, ate 3 eggs sunny side up, a mix of Sauer kraft and kimchi, keifer, water, salt, butter and diet dr peppers. I'm going to be working to stop the ddp. Here's to hoping strict carnivore and more fat does it! Keep me updated everyone. I can't find info either for carnivore and DV. God bless yall

i developed UC after years of NSAIDs to manage chronic pain from Hypermobility type Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. When I was no longer able to use NSAIDs, my opioid use increased exponentially. My Auto Immune doc wanted to put me on Humira and methotrexate when my UC turned into Enteropathic Arthrits. Thankfully she gave me 2 months to try dietary changes. Going paleo got rid of my visible inflammation from the EA within 1 week. I was a believer. When I then went paleo-keto, I got rid of my fibromyalgia flares and then finally was able to get off of opioids. That's when I went dairy free keto carnivore b/c the sugars from low sugar/starch veges were still triggering opioid cravings. My UC flares are mostly triggered by emotional trauma and I am in remission most of the time without medications. When I do have a flare, the carnivore way of eating completely changes what the symptoms are. After hearing your video on how prebiotics are not necessary for carnivores, I stopped my prebiotic and feel significantly better WRT bloating and bowel movement consistency. Your channel is amazing. Please keep putting out the valuable content you do.

I’m interested in what way you find red meat hard to digest. Does it give you gerd? I started 2 weeks ago. My gerd stopped immediately. I don’t just eat red meat. Today I had two fatty, juicy chicken thighs with crispy skin. At supper time I ate 2 eggs scrambled in a tablespoon of chicken fat. Very filling. Tomorrow it’ll be ground beef in some form. I hope you also watch Dr Ken Berry. Good luck. I hope you get where you need to be.

Eating red meat doesn't cause constipation. I have been doing carnivore diet for at least a full year in 2023 & I am very regular. To help you digest meat better, take 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar with a glass of water before meal. Good luck. Don't be afraid of eating red meat. Make sure to eat more animal fat.

I am 67..back in the day my family always got bakery cake for birthdays. They were delicious. Then when I was 16 and after eating a cake, I got upset stomach. At 19 was my first IBS attack. A year later I could not go at all and dealt with c/d from then I. As most of us dealing with this, every time you go to the dr they say it’s your IBS acting up. I recently has a GI dr tell me that. For over 40 years I needed to lose weight and eat more fiber. Omg….I just gave up. My life has sucked and nobody understands why I can’t go out to eat or attention functions and I pray I never get jury duty. And going to the dentist is a nightmare as the anxiety causes intestinal rumblings.

Saturated fat and salt was what the Dr.’s told my husband not to eat. Being that I control the food in the house (I do all the cooking and shopping) he gets more. This is so en pointe!! I was plagued with heartburn for many years. My GI doc told me to take Zantac bid. I was on that regimen for a brief time before I discovered keto/carnivore. I was unable to eat a steak after about 2pm because it would stay in my stomach for so long and then keep me up at night. Since this new way of eating, I have rarely (and I mean rarely) had heartburn issues. One less medication in my pillbox. Now just down to ONE pill to take daily for thyroid (wish I could get rid of that one too)! Thank you Dr. Cywes for your always informative videos. Happy New Year to you and your family!!

My symptoms were bloating, miserable cramping, a toss-up between constipation and diarrhea. I would also have acid reflux and heartburn about 4 hours after eating. That also stopped. Are you using pure stevia powder or a blend? The stevia powder (I use pyure) comes in a salt shaker sized canister with a tiny little scoop. Otherwise it's a mix and has typically has erythritol in it. I've never seen monkfruit sweetners that aren't a blend with some kind of sugar alcohol. If you're using a blend try switching to the pure extract. I find 1-1.5 scoop mixed in with my coffee and heavy cream is just about perfect. I like a scoop in my Fage 5% yogurt too. Good luck!

I was diagnosed with diverticulitis last year around this time. I had to have surgery to remove part of my colon in order to fix the abscess in my abdomen. Now I am once again going on day four of being in hospital due to another flare up. Every doctor tells me the same thing. We don't know what causes diverticulitis and eat more fiber. I am desperate to find a diet that isn't going to keep me on a revolving door policy with my local ER. Is there anyone who has had a similar experience that can tell me if the carnivore diet is going to help or eventually make my situation worse? Thanks in advance for any advice you may have.

The only way to know precisely what works for a person is to do a cleanse. Fast for a week, then add one item at a time and document your body's response. For me I cannot have anything with vegetable oil as an ingredient or cooked in vegetable oil. No beef, no chicken, pork only if it is smoked. No processed foods which means they have preservatives. Most recently I have determined that oatmeal is a no go. I live on turkey and wild meat. Fresh or frozen vegetables and dairy. I am down fifteen pounds on a lean frame. My energy level has returned to something like it was twenty-five years ago. Thirty years of IBS is gone. No more diarrhea. No more gas. No more pain. God bless everyone.

So of course we blamed meat aswell as the drink. So I gave up both. Become vegetarian for 7yrs. Then came chronic idiopathic constipation FYBROMYalga and more. So I decided to start canivore again. My last hope. My stomach was calmer than ever and felt great. Until yesterday when I started having burning pain after eating. And have it again today. Feels alot like pain again. And all I've done is eat high fat canivore. Il be gutted if it is. As I finally had hope again on canivore diet. But could it now be causing panic again? I'm really at my wits end can u help please?

It's the texture, she just doesn't chew it well. She's been gf for years due to celiac. She's had an upper gi and colonoscopy to rule out anything major. Drs advice... lots of fiber and whole gains. I've been keto/ carnivore for years, so needless to say, I'm trying what I know. Does anyone find that probiotics, prebiotics, digestive enzymes, etc, help at all? Little plate - food looks more on it ☺ children's forks and knife? (I use it myself to prevent too much food with one bite) For prebiotics you may find something at a Dr. Ekberg or Dr. Berg yt-video. I’m here looking for answers as I’m the opposite in virtually every way of someone who would typically be diagnosed with diverticulitis. I’m 37, very fit (heavy lifting and cardio 5 days a week), good eater (mainly lean protein and protein shakes), I’m 182lbs, probably 15% body fat. I may eat red meat once or twice a week on occasion, but mostly maybe twice a month. Out of nowhere about a week ago I wake up with an bad (what I assumed was gas) pain in my stomach. I figure it was bad Chipotle from a chicken burrito I’d eaten the day before for lunch. It was the first burrito I’d had in a month or so. My regular lunch is 5 Pollo Tropical chicken breasts and some garlic cilantro sauce. In the evening I’ll have two cans of canned chicken with light Mayo, and occasionally I’ll add it to a few low carb tortilla with tomato sauce and sharp cheddar (this is a treat for me). I supplement with core power pro vanilla shakes a couple of times a day. Literally nothing heavy. In the gym 5 days most weeks. Then bam, 37 years old, peak physical condition, in the ER with bad cold chills. They give me a CT and tell me I have diverticulitis. Wtf? I can’t really change anything diet wise. My diet is clean. I’m the “health freak” in the family. It’s asinine. The only culprit I can think of would be zero sugar Sunkist. It was my guilty pleasure but I didn’t think about it bc I ate so clean otherwise. I’d have a few cans a day on average to satisfy my sweet tooth. But how could a few cans of soda cause my colon to bubble? It makes no sense.
@saltyprepper5513
@saltyprepper5513 Жыл бұрын
Soda is horrible but protein shakes are just as bad. That stuff is highly processed and I do believe it is all synthetic. Not surprised you are having issues but I do hope you figure out what's going on and get better.
@jrcreator2257
@jrcreator2257 Жыл бұрын
@@saltyprepper5513 Nah, nothing to do with the shakes. They’re all natural, low sugar, made from organic milk. About as natural as you can get for a bottled drink. The doctor stated that I likely did it to myself by pushing too hard to pass a bowel. I essentially blew a bubble in my colon. After one round of antibiotics the infection was gone and I haven’t had any issues since. I make sure to drink plenty of water, vitamin C & probiotic every morning. I also take a stool softener before major meals. Still exercising etc as normal.

@ashleyforbis1952 11 ай бұрын
You aren't "completely opposite" of someone who would be diagnosed with diverticulitis. What you've described about your diet lines up completely with the type of diet that would cause it. Red meat is one of the healthiest forms of protein, yet you are avoiding it while substituting with protein shakes. The meat has protein in combination with healthy fats. The fats are what contribute to healthy bowle movements, instead of over working the colon with the SAD diet, even if it is a "clean" version. The result is going back and forth between constipation and diarrhea, weakening the walls of the colon. Meat and fat are friends, not foes. The solution is to reframe your thoughts on what a good diet is. Good luck from a fellow diverticulosis sufferer.

Eliminating kale salads w/cukes, tomatoes, nuts, & seeds, and most all veggies, completely eliminated a lifetime of bloating, gas, & constipation -- as a result of being open minded with a "What do I have to lose?". Switched to nose-to-tail ancestral eating w/ modest butter & heavy cream in my coffee, and was set free from my sugar/carb bondage....dropped from size 12 to size 8 w/normal walking, gardening, & chores. Have heightened sense of smell & taste; no bloat/gas; pearly white teeth (remineralization occurs w/eating carnivore grass-fed meats/organs, bcuz cells pull calcium from bloodstream and put it back into my (vegetarian-weakened) teeth & bones, despite 30 years of calcium supplements). Peace & health to all.💜🙏🙂 God bless you Dr. C, for sharing your own stories about carb addiction and making helpful, educational content.
